I found the entire episode on my Facebook timeline a little while back and posted a Hurdles clip from it earlier this month. However, I know this is the real thing that everyone wants to see. This is the final playing of Professor Price from November 21st, 1977.

I think this game appealed to the kids who watched the show more than the adults. My opinion.
I always wondered what Bob himself thought of this game. His enthusiasm for this game seemed genuine, but I'm sure inside he was thinking "They really expect me to talk to this mannequin as if it's a living person?!?!?" I wonder if Bob had any say about this game getting the axe?

I only learned about Professor Price today when he was brought up on today's game of Cover Up. Now I've seen all the episodes, I guess. I can die a happy man!
I did some research and it came out a year before I was born. I can see why Bob Barker himself was NOT a fan of the game but I'm happy that both times the game was played resulted into wins.

I think Professor Price got the axe due to its creepiness factor rather than producers supposedly objecting to a trivia segment being added to the show...
And this has been the ONLY pricing game to retire without a loss.

@@starfox22 interestingly 1977 being the year when this episode of Price is Right aired was the same year that Chuck E. Cheese was founded.
So professor price can make angry faces when contestants answer wrong and makes happy face when they answer right! That’s plain creepy!

Between the ridiculously stupid looking puppet and lack of pricing which is integral to the show's format it's no surprise why this game was so short lived. Crazy still is that even then both of the playings were winners and as such is the only one of the retired games with a winning record.
Just wow, out of all the retired games this had to be hands down the worst setup ever conceived.
@hdayejr Absolutely, i'm guessing that he didn't think this one through very well. There's been games which got sent to the scrap heap like Bullseye 1 for excessive difficulty plus other games which didn't work for one reason or another like On the Nose or On the Spot. Then there's pure WTF level garbage such as Professor Price, because the game totally went against what TPIR is at it's core as in a show where people apply knowledge of prices to win prizes.
Bob Barker hosted a show with a robot(Simon?) shortly before starting the price is right...That show didn't last long but the 70's technology was big on this animatronics stuff...

I think a lot of people actually really like this game but they literally wanted to see it updated
I have a feeling that Professor Price is going to become a very popular fellow. Gonna guess considering this was the last playthrough that wasn't the case.
The game wasn't that bad, the character and prop could have been redesigned to be less creepy. The game was more of a trivia game and TPIR was never considered trivial, more guessing the price and actual games.
Professor Price might have lasted longer if the contestants had been required to give their responses in the form of a question.
Lawsuit would've happened against Goodson/Todman for using Jeopardy! Format.
Like the line "You have a finger up". I wonder if the middle finger was put up first in one segment and they cut it. Would have been a hilarious scene.
They purposely designed him with four fingers on each hand, to prevent that problem from happening.
This worked better than the first playing with the questions being picked. Debra got unlucky picking the 3 star general (I would've guessed 4 as well) but lucky because with 2 3's in the car it was pretty obvious that 3 wasn't in the price. In the first playing, I have a feeling they intentionally made the answers of the first two questions the first two numbers in the price of the car.
My dad had a Chevrolet Nova almost exactly like that except it was light blue.

This game looked like a good addition to the price is right game library, it’s the only game to have every contestants to win. Only played twice. Sadly never to return
I had an old Nova beater. Someone gifted it to me. I think it was 20 years old when I got it. I drove it for many years.

I love the set and the game. Interesting that both contestants won. Maybe it was considered too easy. I know that it looks too technically complicated.

Pomp and Circumstance has been played in colleges and high schools for graduation ceremonies. And a professor is associated with colleges. Plus, it was before Macho Man Randy Savage even wrestled, so Professor Price used it before he did.

If they brought Professor Price back, then they should hire an actor to play as the professor and have it do multiple choice answers and track right/wrong answers on the monitor.

This was a strange game.
This game is antithetical to everything that is "The Price Is Right". Very little pricing elements, no audience help allowed, and educational questions that anyone can miss. I'm glad that this game was played only twice. I'll bet they got a lot of letters outlining these same complaints. Screw Professor Price.

A potential technical glitch could have happened with those fingers, if the index fingers malfunctioned. Then what?
As I recall, the Professor had precisely four digits on each hand to prevent that problem.

Professor Price was only played TWICE on The Price Is Right, and both times, the car was won. The game itself was very out of place on the show, what with trivia questions with numerical answers between 0-9 and seeing if the numbers were in the car's price.
Professor price did not work out.
