How lucky are we to have been taught by Andrew Wright ! He devoted all his life to teach and show how to phrase thé subtility of piob. Thanks Andrew RIP.
Your touching comment may be even truer than you think. Blair Castle, where the competition was held, was visited in May, 1689 by John Graham of Claverhouse, Viscount Dundee, two months before he led the highlanders in one of their few successful engagements against an army loyal to the English King at the (nearby) Battle of Killiecrankie. Claverhouse would almost certainly have walked through the room where this competition took place. Sadly he died in the battle and is buried in St. Bride's churchyard in the grounds of Blair Castle.
Hi , The pipes Fred was playing at the Glenfiddich and for the last few years are his own range of Highland Bagpipes ,made by McCallum Bagpipes. They have been made to his own specifications and will launch soon. We have just starting worked on a Fred Morrison pipe chanter which will come with the pipes ,that’s at quite an early stage, but we still hope to have the complete instrument available later this year.
@@stuartmccallum-yy6ww Hi Stuart, many thanks for your reply. Is there any more info regarding these pipes on the web? It's interesting because I have just learn that McCallum also make the Fanch Gourves bagpipes, but have never seen a notice regarding this. And I have only seen them for sale at Ti Ar Sonerien.
@@stuartmccallum-yy6ww I'm very curious about these pipes. Are they based off of a historical pipe similar to the McRae line or are they an original design?
Fred, it might have been traditional but things got a little boring towards the end, mate. More than a little repetitive. Yes, you got an ovation, but..... Still... love the pipes, all the same
What can you do how us like many im in awe listening to this great man play ceol Mor piobrach the piper is telling a story . He does however need a bigger Balmoral 😊
This only gets better every hundredth time I watch it.
Beautiful high G and A notes
A great tune. GREAT PLAYER.Well Done Fred.

I was honored to hear this ancient treasured music. Thank you very much for posting . Amazing piper !!
Don’t listen to Piobaireachd much but when Fred Morrison plays a piece I make the effort.
So amazingly relaxed in the hands, it’s entrancing to watch!
Absolute legend.
What a beautiful room to play such affecting music. It really does make me cry in remembrance of Scottish history.

@@angusmackay1 Thank you for the history.
A one man orchestra
Wonderful sound and playing!
Not even going to ask how he got his hair under the balmoral 😂
😲
He shaved it off…
A lot of shoehorns
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you just did 😂😂😂😂
Stuffed it under Rasta style😆
Interesting, it sounds like he is playing the heavy throw on D - which is of course fully acceptable.
Yes it does.
I love how scots Gaelic pronounce 'a' as in battle
Great sounding pipes and music
What tune?
The End of the Great Bridge. It appears on the screen as he begins to play.
Never seen him at the Glenfiddich before. Or wearing a balmoral (I think that's the hat he's wearingl
Which make of pipes do he play?

I never knew he owned a kilt
Great piper, but his barber is horrible.
Nonsense, poopypants. It’s awesome, and his trademark

It’s deliciously groovy and meditative in its repetitiveness.
