I got the new mini. I wanna say the primary reason I bought it is because I just really enjoy the smaller size and how much easier and more comfortable it is to use while watching videos in bed or just carrying it around the house. When I use the air it feels bit too big for me to comfortably hold when watching videos in bed, but that’s just my opinion. Owning the 3rd gen mini and really liking the size of that also probably influenced my decision. I’d say the main drawback for this iPad is the display. I got the 13 pro max at the same time and after being spoiled by promotion, I really wish the mini had it too. It just feels so laggy when using it, albeit I only watch Netflix and TH-cam on it so it’s really not too big a deal.
@@dannyolivo probably should’ve clarified i meant the 120hz ProMotion and not a promotion 😅😅 But thanks! yeah the lack of ProMotion display is definitely something to consider if you’re adjusted to using high refresh rates from the pro models, 13 pros, or other android phones that have had it. Wasn’t a deal breaker for me, but was definitely the first thing i noticed.
The thing about people who say they are spoiled by pro motion is it's a variable refresh rate so you aren't experiencing 120 fps 100% of the time if the iPad mini looks laggy then you should easily notice when the 13 Pro Max drops to 60. I have both devices and I don't think in my use cases I've noticed a laggy feeling unless I was directly comparing things like animations and scrolling. For the most part I don't think the 120 is as optimized as people tend to make it out to be and the 60 is pretty well optimized on ios. I will say I did immediately notice speed difference coming from older iphones but I think now with the mini I can tell the animations and everything are optimized to give the smoothest experience it can regardless of framerate the same way Apple optimizes ram.
@@CinemaZiggyI agree apple does 60hz really well compared to a lot of other companies, but you can definitely notice 120hz and 60hz. I know my ipad isn’t slow, but it just feels choppy until my eyes get adjusted if i’m using my iphone prior. And yes 120hz isn’t on all the time, but i’d say for the majority of the apps I generally use on my phone they are (imsg, casual safari browsing, ig, etc.) maybe you tend to use less popular apps that don’t support promotion yet? just a guess. I wanna say most of the time for most people it will be on, as most the widely used apps do support it. Similar to having my dual screen PC setup. whenever i move my mouse over from my 2k 144hz to my 4k 60hz, my 4k monitor feels really choppy until my eyes adjust to it. That’s just the reality of higher refresh rates. You will notice if you immediately go between one another. But hey if you’re not bothered by it then more power to you my man.
@@PotterBoy18 It’s actually a feature of pro motion it literally dips the refresh rate when it feels like 120 isn’t necessary to save on battery. Most people don’t cover this in great detail but if you google it this is how pro motion actually works. It’s an adaptive frame rate. There’s even some animations specifically that aren’t optimized like reachability which is still 60. I’ve also heard there’s a noticeable difference on pro motion on iPad Pro vs 13 pro max. All of this to say I don’t think the difference between pro motion vs no pro motion especially with the 13 pro max is as jarring as comparing a 60hz computer monitor vs 120hz computer monitor. I do agree though this is all heavily dependent on an individual and how they actually use their device. I think a lot of people expect it to be 100% of the time 120 because of marketing but if you read the actual apple developer documents on pro motion and pay super close attention you’ll notice even doing tasks at different battery percentages gives different frame rates as well as low power mode.
I definitely bought it for it's smaller size since I travel for a living. Being on planes all day and lugging around a bigger iPad wasn't ideal for me. I like to keep my bag light as possible. I found that watching movies on my phone was just too small a screen but the mini is a perfect size. Great for reading and playing games too. Win win for me.
Well I have both. Each one is good in their own aspect. You hit the nail on the head with describing the iPad mini as what apple would call the XR Max Plus or whatever they would name the regular version of the biggest phone you could buy. That's really how I use it. I use my iPad mini all day, more than my 13 Pro. The size of the iPad makes it just big enough to make the content consumption experience better than on your phone while also being small enough to fit in a small bag and take with you 24/7. Along with reading and general media consumption, I do some photo editing with my iPad mini and the pencil. Thanks to USB-C gone are the days of having to find a dongle for my iPad mini and my Fuji X100V to be best buds with easy, quick connection and data transfer. Well, if you manage to make this into your phone, congratulations, because it's not possible :D at least not in the literal way. I wish this would be true. I would use this as a phone, no problem.
why design four speaker grills when there are only two speakers? why reduce the screen size to the point it looks like the one waitresses use when filling up menu orders? it's useful for kids at school though. and best of all, this is the ony iPad size that justifies placing the front camera on the shorter side. perhaps an m1 10-inch 4:3 oled screen with thinner bezels and real four speakers and a new short Apple pencil mini might be better than this, i.e. if the goal is still not to cannibalize the non-touch macbooks. it maybe right to put the macbooks the only thing to edit 8k clips with more than 10 layers, but iPad xcode to make iPad and iphone apps should have been allowed. forcing iPad devs to buy macbooks is greed.
I have to disagree that this is the best gaming tablet out because it’s far from being the best. There are others that are so much better then this and the IPad Mini fails on all fronts.
Jelly scroll is a reality, and a poorly executed technical which makes me and a few friends dizzy, to the extent we returned them.…this is not our imagination. Going to wait until pro-motion 128 hz comes out…and of course the fix Apple will charge you for. Getting really tired of being coerced to pay more for their reality distortion field

6:19 lol you are a king
You say you're sure I'm gonna watch other reviews, but I'm not even gonna watch a review of any product next, subscription list order dictates I watch a Minecraft video now.
Solid review!
Hey Jimmy, love your videos and your style. Can you please make a review on Windows 11?
Good review before also in commutes I would take my phone and my iPad Air turn on hotspot and watch everything in my iPad instead of the phone
That’s similar to me! I would rely heavily on my phone hotspots during commutes.
Well, if you manage to make this into your phone, congratulations, because it's not possible :D at least not in the literal way. I wish this would be true. I would use this as a phone, no problem.
Would you happen to know if the newer iPads have access to cinema mode that’s on the 13 models?
Nope
why design four speaker grills when there are only two speakers? why reduce the screen size to the point it looks like the one waitresses use when filling up menu orders? it's useful for kids at school though. and best of all, this is the ony iPad size that justifies placing the front camera on the shorter side. perhaps an m1 10-inch 4:3 oled screen with thinner bezels and real four speakers and a new short Apple pencil mini might be better than this, i.e. if the goal is still not to cannibalize the non-touch macbooks. it maybe right to put the macbooks the only thing to edit 8k clips with more than 10 layers, but iPad xcode to make iPad and iphone apps should have been allowed. forcing iPad devs to buy macbooks is greed.
8:23 I think the iPad mini is for people who are looking for a companion they can use in bed
What case is it that you have on it?
@Pong Krell didn’t look like it.
Where do you read your manga?
8:47 what case is that?
Where are my Trash Taste people at?!
new subscriber here!
Hey, I'm still kinda early. hahahahaha. good review!
I don’t need the iPad mini because I got the iPad Pro 12.9 2021 just wanted the iPad mini just because I want to spend money on new stuff 🤷♂️
Ha Ha…me too!🤗
Hey hey......
U spoild a bit of chainsaw man.....
First few pages of chapter one!
Well if the ipad air came with the same configurations as the iPad mini and a high refresh screen it would be a better choice for many............
Who isn't ready for the Chainsaw Man anime??
Ayyy Trash Taste podcast, a fellow boii i see!
I have to disagree that this is the best gaming tablet out because it’s far from being the best. There are others that are so much better then this and the IPad Mini fails on all fronts.
bruh
bruh
Bruh
Jelly scroll is a reality, and a poorly executed technical which makes me and a few friends dizzy, to the extent we returned them.…this is not our imagination.
Going to wait until pro-motion 128 hz comes out…and of course the fix Apple will charge you for. Getting really tired of being coerced to pay more for their reality distortion field
Just gotta say jimmy be thicccccccccccccccc
Time to trim those nails? lol
Oh trash taste…. I see you too are a man of culture
I see a wild trash taste podcast.
Lol cool
Hahaaa. Trash Taste!!
Gotta love trash taste
Yes, I would rather buy air than buy an iPad Mini.
