    I got the new mini. I wanna say the primary reason I bought it is because I just really enjoy the smaller size and how much easier and more comfortable it is to use while watching videos in bed or just carrying it around the house. When I use the air it feels bit too big for me to comfortably hold when watching videos in bed, but that’s just my opinion. Owning the 3rd gen mini and really liking the size of that also probably influenced my decision. I’d say the main drawback for this iPad is the display. I got the 13 pro max at the same time and after being spoiled by promotion, I really wish the mini had it too. It just feels so laggy when using it, albeit I only watch Netflix and TH-cam on it so it’s really not too big a deal.

    • @dannyolivo
      @dannyolivo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      pretty sound feedback. grats on the promotion homie! the slow refresh rate is the only thing that's holding me back from getting the Mini

    • @PotterBoy18
      @PotterBoy18 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dannyolivo probably should’ve clarified i meant the 120hz ProMotion and not a promotion 😅😅 But thanks! yeah the lack of ProMotion display is definitely something to consider if you’re adjusted to using high refresh rates from the pro models, 13 pros, or other android phones that have had it. Wasn’t a deal breaker for me, but was definitely the first thing i noticed.

    • @CinemaZiggy
      @CinemaZiggy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The thing about people who say they are spoiled by pro motion is it's a variable refresh rate so you aren't experiencing 120 fps 100% of the time if the iPad mini looks laggy then you should easily notice when the 13 Pro Max drops to 60. I have both devices and I don't think in my use cases I've noticed a laggy feeling unless I was directly comparing things like animations and scrolling. For the most part I don't think the 120 is as optimized as people tend to make it out to be and the 60 is pretty well optimized on ios. I will say I did immediately notice speed difference coming from older iphones but I think now with the mini I can tell the animations and everything are optimized to give the smoothest experience it can regardless of framerate the same way Apple optimizes ram.

    • @PotterBoy18
      @PotterBoy18 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CinemaZiggyI agree apple does 60hz really well compared to a lot of other companies, but you can definitely notice 120hz and 60hz. I know my ipad isn’t slow, but it just feels choppy until my eyes get adjusted if i’m using my iphone prior. And yes 120hz isn’t on all the time, but i’d say for the majority of the apps I generally use on my phone they are (imsg, casual safari browsing, ig, etc.) maybe you tend to use less popular apps that don’t support promotion yet? just a guess. I wanna say most of the time for most people it will be on, as most the widely used apps do support it. Similar to having my dual screen PC setup. whenever i move my mouse over from my 2k 144hz to my 4k 60hz, my 4k monitor feels really choppy until my eyes adjust to it. That’s just the reality of higher refresh rates. You will notice if you immediately go between one another. But hey if you’re not bothered by it then more power to you my man.

    • @CinemaZiggy
      @CinemaZiggy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PotterBoy18 It’s actually a feature of pro motion it literally dips the refresh rate when it feels like 120 isn’t necessary to save on battery. Most people don’t cover this in great detail but if you google it this is how pro motion actually works. It’s an adaptive frame rate. There’s even some animations specifically that aren’t optimized like reachability which is still 60. I’ve also heard there’s a noticeable difference on pro motion on iPad Pro vs 13 pro max. All of this to say I don’t think the difference between pro motion vs no pro motion especially with the 13 pro max is as jarring as comparing a 60hz computer monitor vs 120hz computer monitor. I do agree though this is all heavily dependent on an individual and how they actually use their device. I think a lot of people expect it to be 100% of the time 120 because of marketing but if you read the actual apple developer documents on pro motion and pay super close attention you’ll notice even doing tasks at different battery percentages gives different frame rates as well as low power mode.

    I definitely bought it for it's smaller size since I travel for a living. Being on planes all day and lugging around a bigger iPad wasn't ideal for me. I like to keep my bag light as possible. I found that watching movies on my phone was just too small a screen but the mini is a perfect size. Great for reading and playing games too. Win win for me.

  • @alinacarmenatis3275

    Well I have both. Each one is good in their own aspect. My iPad Air has her own function like a lightweight laptop or a second screen or a sketching device for plans while I used the mini to take the notes if the air is been used as computer or second screen and i use the mini ad a companion as well. Watching Netflix, Hulu etc.and they both use the same Apple Pencil . So I can switch devices. The jelly effect doesn’t bother unless you are looking for it. Like he says it depends on the use you want to give your device. This is not a budget comparison is a user one

    You hit the nail on the head with describing the iPad mini as what apple would call the XR Max Plus or whatever they would name the regular version of the biggest phone you could buy. That's really how I use it. I use my iPad mini all day, more than my 13 Pro. The size of the iPad makes it just big enough to make the content consumption experience better than on your phone while also being small enough to fit in a small bag and take with you 24/7. Along with reading and general media consumption, I do some photo editing with my iPad mini and the pencil. Thanks to USB-C gone are the days of having to find a dongle for my iPad mini and my Fuji X100V to be best buds with easy, quick connection and data transfer. Simply take the same cable I use to charge both the camera and the iPad to use to pair the camera and the iPad. The Everyday Dad said something in his video that I also really agree with. If Apple allowed you to run your phone number natively on the iPad without the need for an iPhone, it would be really easy to get away with just having a cellular Apple watch and the iPad mini....I wouldn't even find a need for the phone.
    Anyways I just say all that to say that I absolutely love the iPad mini and think it is the best, yet most underrated device Apple has out right now. I just wish that Apple would have made an iPad mini "pro". Give me the 120hz OLED panel and I'll gladly throw more money Apple's way.

      I'm debating between the mini and the pro 11...I watch a lot of video's and movies...just wondering if you still find it as enjoyable on the smaller screen. I still use my Air 2 and have never felt it was too uncomfortable for couch or bed.

    • @75gmag
      @75gmag 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stephenstringer3689 it really depends on what you intend to use it for. If you plan on using it for any type of productivity, I would say it’ll be too small. I use my mini mainly for media consumption and reading. And keep in my that the fonts and apps are smaller. I have to enlarge the font size and app size. I’m in my forties and definitely have to zoom in or make sure I wear my reading glasses when I read on it. Hope that helps.

    I have an iPad Pro 12.9 2020 with the magic keyboard. I absolutely LOVE the setup and use it as my daily driver. My MacBook Pro almost never makes it out of my office. I bought the iPad Mini 6 because I have a very specific use case. I read a lot of news, books and academic research articles for my job so I use Books and Apple News+ heavily. Using the Mini has been fantastic for me for at purpose. The 12.9 Pro is huge and awkward for those use cases, that it makes the experience less than enjoyable and fatiguing for long sessions. The Mini ha been clutch for this. i love it! and even thought I’ve seen a million TH-cam videos on the jelly scroll issue, I haven’t notices at all.

    Most reviewers and owners give Apple a pass for the weak display and the awful jelly scroll. I personally think this is because they own other tablets and/or laptop so can lightly use the ipad mini and forgive the jelly scroll. But if this is you main device the visual display defect, as I call it, is not good enough especially for the price. I cannot unseen it and I wanted to own this device due to the form factor 😞
    Apple could and should have done better - but I guess this is an easy improvement upgrade if they release Mini 7. "Now with new and improved display (new hat)".

    why design four speaker grills when there are only two speakers? why reduce the screen size to the point it looks like the one waitresses use when filling up menu orders? it's useful for kids at school though. and best of all, this is the ony iPad size that justifies placing the front camera on the shorter side. perhaps an m1 10-inch 4:3 oled screen with thinner bezels and real four speakers and a new short Apple pencil mini might be better than this, i.e. if the goal is still not to cannibalize the non-touch macbooks. it maybe right to put the macbooks the only thing to edit 8k clips with more than 10 layers, but iPad xcode to make iPad and iphone apps should have been allowed. forcing iPad devs to buy macbooks is greed.
