- My friend Chris wanted his 1976 corvette lowered so we did it on the cheap by Cutting 1.5 coils out of the front springs and adding some lowering bolts to the rear suspension we were able to drop his corvette about 3" in front and 1.5" in the rear
this video will show you how I did it
Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much for showing us how to remove and cut the front springs. You did a good job! I am glad to see you are the only other person i know of who has carpet in the garage I have complete wall to wall thick carpet in my garage makes it a lot better when you have to kneel down next to the car. Your friends 1976 corvette is extra nice love his engine!! I have a 1976 corvette with brand new chevy 454 in it and 4 speed its awesome!!
Beautifully done!!!👍🏻
I'd suggest clamping a vice grip pliers or a C-clamp on the rear spring to prevent the jack sliding up the spring bcz of severe angle. Also, you can drill a cotter pin hole in the new bolt...tricky but doable n well worth the effort. I see he retrofitted an 80s rear bumper. Cool mod. I've dreamed of putting a 68-72 rear (chrome bumper delete) n 80s front end on a 77 flat glass. Maybe one day...
CORVETTE BEST CAR
Be well Steve. Hope you're waking up. Over and out
Nah I’m going to bed. I’m sleepy
You should mention if you lower the rear too much the halfshafts can vibrate really bad from being at too much of a negative angle... They dont like to be adjusted much lower than sitting horizontally even.. I'm raising my crossmember and rear axle in my 74 because of this issue.
With this method it shouldn’t be much of an issue. But yes too low can cause binding issues.
Yeah, I got rid of a bad vibration on my 74 that was being caused by just way too much negative camber. I think the previous owner had failed to torque the adjuster bolts down and it they slipped. It looked stupid as hell when I bought it.
The compressor noise is crazy loud.
@@kirkelder5 yeah haha
