I am really interested in the Neapolitan novels AND the Copenhagen trilogy, but hadn’t known they were similar at all.
What a great review. Will certainly bump it up the TBR.
I’d actually love to see what you make of the Gormenghast trilogy, or at least, Titus Groan. Have you ever considered those?

I read a couple of his novels, and when I was teaching first-year seminar classes one of the books we'd discuss in class was Light in August - but I always struggled a lot with Faulkner, I tend to find him hard work! As I Lay Dying was my favorite when I first read it, and I'd be curious to re-read it.

ok, let's also say - for once - that the cover of the penguin edition is really nice. it's a 1957 Copenaghen poster art used mainly in postcards of the time. author unknown. I know you are only interested in book spines - due to the chromatic classification of your bookshelves (which I rather disapprove) - but hey, cover design is super important too ;-)

I really loved The Copenhagen Trilogy not so much My Brilliant Friend. Perhaps the book of the year for me.
