  • It is always a pleasure to chat with my friend and one of the best strength coaches in the game! Every time I talk to Christian I pick up useful tips to improve my training and performance and I know you will as well.
In addition, this episode will always be special as it marks the last video my longtime dog Grover will ever be in. Many of you have seen Grover in my youtube videos over the years as he has been my constant companion for 15 years. A few hours after recording this episode I had to take Grover to my vet to be put to rest. He made it to 18 and he was the most loyal and loving dog ever. I will miss him greatly but I am very grateful for all the time we got to spend together.

This is extremely dense info ,not just info , but knowledge , not just knowledge , but even some wisdom ! Over the last 15 yrs I learned so much from podcasts like these and lectures etc also . It's so easy to listen 1-2 hrs of podcasts or lectures and you slowly but surely become good in that you listen to , if you have some talent , you can even become some kind of expert . With proper knowledge you can live longer , more quality life , and exercise on budget , sometimes even for free ! It's amazing that you can exercise on elite level with little money , but only if you are into sports whole life , living sports for decades , learning constantly and being humble enough to - learn from others . God bless !

Mike Mentzer's own description of his best routine had him doing about 18 total sets to failure 3-4 days a week. About 60 sets a week. However he mentioned biking at least 40 miles a week and as much as 120 precontest. His LEG training was very short like 3 sets for quads, 2 for hams.

This one, just like your last conversation with Christian Thibaudeau is a goldmine of information. Not a week goes by without me thinking about Christian Thibaudeau‘s story about his client going from abusing pre-workout supplements to graduating to cocaine.

I had to put my dog down 3 months shy of 18. Hips too, couldn't get up anymore without help. Afterwards I looked over old videos and realized I'd waited a bit long. it was tricky to identify at the time. Hardest thing I've ever had to do :(. Sorry for your loss Mike. I waited a year before getting another one and it still didn't feel right but it reminded me of the happiness they give. It's all worth it.

@@OP-qy6yn I am very sorry for your loss and thank you very much for your nice words. It is such a hard decision to make to put them to rest that I think we all tend to vacillate. Each day during Grover's last week I thought if today is the day. By the end of the week, he was no longer eating or even drinking and also had a very difficult time moving around. I knew I wasn't doing him any favors by prolonging his suffering. I am glad you got another dog a year later. I think it is the best way to not only heal but honor their memory by helping another animal. I am grateful to have my dog Reyna as it would be heartbreaking to have no dogs in the house.

@@MikeMahleraggressivestrength Thank you Mike, the overall experience from birth to death was far more of a gain then a loss :). Certainly every photo I found of her the days after was like finding gold. Even if blurred, it was the most precious thing to me ever. The beautiful thing is animals always trust you to do the right thing and you did. Yeah having another dog now I am much more patient with him and make every second count. Thanks again Mike for your knowledge, time and loving/caring nature.
