    Can you do a follow up video on how well they've held up and how much the paint has been damaged by using them?

      It would actually be cool to do an A/B test. One car sitting covered for a year, one car sitting uncovered, and see if we can spot the differences in paint after a year.

      @kelemenkaban2505 The problem with that is, you just don't know how long the previous owner or you, if you owned them both, had them in the sun or other elements.

    I live in SoCal, and yes, if I park outside it has a cover on it.
    Why? Well it would be covered in dust in about 15 minutes otherwise. Pollen bombs then get stuck on the paint. Birds play target practice. UV of course.
    There are indeed downsides, but if you regularly remove the cover and make sure its clean underneath, all is well.

    Been thinking about getting a car cover for a while now since it hurts to see my car get pooped on or dirty every week from sitting outside, but since it's my daily it sees too much use for one IMO. Hope to see a follow-up vid where you show the durability and effectiveness of them in different weather!

    I used to use a car cover on my Eunos Roadster to stop the paint getting damaged, then I found out that it causes the moisture to go underneath the car causing it to rust more easily as it gets trapped, I'd use one if the climate was dry e.g. in the summer but wouldn't use one during the winter months

    I cover my Miata while it's stored (inside) during winter. Honestly not sure what I'd do if I had to keep it parked outside while stored. Don't want it to be exposed to the elements, but don't want a cover that would blow around and rub the paint.

    • @HelloRoad
      @HelloRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's a tough call! Here in SoCal the sun completely roasts paint. Especially 1990s paint. The clear coat on my '98 Subaru got completely trashed in just 3 months in the sun. Depending on the car, I might be inclined to try the cover even if it does cause a few scratches. Hopefully the scratches would be small enough that they could be buffed out.

    • @sakumisan
      @sakumisan 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They make some very good fitting car covers. Got mine from Moss. If you keep a good layer of wax on your car there won't be rub issues.

    I park in the street and some of my street doesn’t have sidewalk but dirt n rocks. Some of the neighbors have backyards with nothing but dirt and they still have the urge to use a leaf blower in their dirt homes…. Anyways I have a black car and have to park near them. One day after a wash and there’s no more shine 😭

      Crap! That sucks. Did you tie it down underneath the car? That has seemed to help the covers stay on in the wind. When I didn’t tie it down, I also did have a cover fly off. Also maybe the cover you got was slightly too big?

    So for a car you drive everyday, should you not use one since you'd have to wash it every time before putting on the cover?

    • @Greataardvark
      @Greataardvark 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Correct. My daily is actually a project car. 2.5 years of work. It's not watertight and my garage has another car inside. So while my actual daily is worked on, I drive the non watertight car. I have to keep waxing and washing it. If it rains then I can't use the car. The cover eventually gave out. It leaks at the stitches. I feel it's best to keep moisture from entering the vehicle, but I know that it's not good long term. Hence replacement windscreen is on my to do list ASAP.
      It's very hard to cover an outdoor stored daily. It requires time and effort that most folks haven't got. I am a petrolhead and collector, so to me it's worth the sacrifice. My cars are my children.
