Thanks Joe. Your "simple" exercises are great reminder of the beauty of NOT overworking paintings. Now I have some playing with paint to do.

So many videos do not tell you when the paint is allowed to dry before going on to the next step. For a beginner I need to know this. Your tips and explanations are excellent. I like the fact that it is in real time. I haven't tried this yet but decided to watch the entire video first. Thank you.

Have at last copied ( or tried to ) your sky & mountain scene it’ll take much practice to acquire anything like your standard but, thanks for your tips . I enjoyed this & will repeat to reach a better standard! Thanks

Very good instruction! I particularly liked how you pointed out the land- being horizontal - will be lighter/brighter than the hill / mountains - which are vertical. Horizontal objects will tend to get more light from the sky than vertical objects. That makes so much sense! Thank you! I will send this tutorial to my sisters - budding watercolor artists. They will really get a lot out of the way you that you show the water/paint ratio and how much paint to leave in your brush, the sizes of the brushes - which vary a lot, etc. Thank you and have a great day, Joe. So kind of you to take time to teach us how to paint so effortlessly. - Now, as for me, I will have a go at this myself. :) I can't wait...

Really enjoying all your videos and straightforward step by step instruction. I like your palette with big spaces to mix colours and the deep wells, can you tell me where I can get one similar?

    • @JoeCartwright

Glad you are enjoying my videos. I designed the palette myself and printed it on a 3D printer, I do sell them. The price is $60 Australian plus postage. They take a few days to produce.

Always softly dry your brush when you finish painting and make sure it dries with a point to help it last longer.
