    Jeff has so many great exercises and covers so many different ideas in all his videos. If vocal lessons are too expensive his channel is the best alternative!!! I tried to do a practice-every-day-this-month challenge and went from considering myself a hobbyist to an actual vocalist, all thanks to Jeff and dedication!

    @chaswood1517 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    great exercises! Why am I feeling a transition from my "chest in head" at the top to the lower notes on the same run on some of these? When my register events usually occur when I use my " light" head voice to chest voice.

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tops of some of these runs may be ascending beyond the next registration event for you. There are three main registration events for male vocalists, the primo passaggio (depending on fach usually between b3-c sharp4) the secondo passaggio (depending on fach between e4-f sharp4) and the third registration event (depending on fach between a4 - c5).
      If you've made a good transition across the secondo passaggio, the one above is usually less challenging, but descending back down from having gone above can have some difficulties as the vocal fold has to re-adduct in order to maintain voce piena in testa (the sound of chest voice in head).
      I hope that helps!
      Jeff

    I'm a bass-baritone but can for sure touch the tenor notes, but I see my breaking point is the D# and E (E3?) - is that the 2nd passagio or? I can for sure hum those notes and hit them but not as good in a strong natural voice / tone as the lower registry, sounds like falsetto in my case. What would be the best thing to be a better tenor and transition up to the higher notes? Would be great video material for you Jeff! Best of luck to 2022! Or maybe an extended baritone video/videos!

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great comment/question and thanks for subscribing. You're correct, the d#/e is probably your secondo passaggio. If it's airy and falsetto sounding, your vocal folds are abducting too much. To make it sound consistent with the other parts of your range you have to learn to keep the vocal folds adducted while they elongate. I've done a lot of videos on this, but there two step-by-step systems I've done. One is here:
      th-cam.com/play/PL2mQP7sE6PHgDZbHwHzRwUf-HOWec-fgq.html
      The other is here:
      jeffrolka.mykajabi.com/high-note-bootcamp
      I hope that helps! Thanks!

    Jeff, thanks for your excellent videos. When getting to what you call Secondo Passaggio, often times I feel my chest voice can continue to sing those notes without extreme strain. How would I know the optimal point to transition to that Mixed voice? And I am a more of a Baritenor!

    • @samB842
      @samB842 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JeffRolka Thanks! Just to add to the question, sometimes that high note voice placed on the mask area using a chest coordination makes it hard to transition to head voice than transitioning from lower notes, i.e. lower volume or softer tone

    Fantastic! How do you get your voice to stay full while going over the break?

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just subscribed. You wouldn't remember me but did a few in person coaching sessions with you a LONG time ago. Happy to see your channel. I'm trying to overcome vocal strain. What are your best resources to help with this?

    • @JeffRolka
      @JeffRolka  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello!
      Thank you for subscribing! Vocal strain can be tricky! There are a few videos on the channel. You might have a look at these:
      th-cam.com/video/J_hxNu5OXOs/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/GOsQvyGXNik/w-d-xo.html
      th-cam.com/video/cmi4HIEXrlI/w-d-xo.html
      With most things music related, however, how we do the practices is as or more important than the practice itself. Focus on how you're using your voice and body during any exercise and notice any areas where you're fatiguing your voice. In a given octave, if some vowels do not have that same strain, you can tailor your exercises to help those vowels inform your delivery on those where you're straining.
      I hope that helps!
      Best,
      Jeff
