    Couldn't be happier. Bought a kit with frame and tools. I kept the video going on my tablet went step by step and Viola. It would have been $100 to have it repaired. I did it $22 with your help. The best gun is a must though. I can't thank you enough.

    I should point out for those who experienced speaker distortion after replacing the screen. Located inside the speaker enclosed thing the speaker itself have a very thin like "cushion" thing which holds the speaker in place very tight and avoid vibrate against the plastic cover there. Seems like this little pice gets lost easily since a lot ppl has reported speaker/buzzer distortion after replacing screen. To fix this issue cut a very thin piece of toilet paper or similar(make sure not too thick) place it under the speaker and on top of it , (sandwich the speaker between toilet paper)then close the entire thing with the screws. I had this issue for over a year couldn't troubleshoot it until someone in reddit point it out that nobody in any tutorial had mentioned this. Good luck

    Thank you for sharing this tutorial! I've never replaced a screen before or done any phone repairs by myself, but this tutorial was so straightforward and explained everything so well that I was able to get it done relatively easily. I'm glad I could save money on repair costs and also don't have to replace my phone entirely. I definitely appreciate your help!

    Great instructions! Thank you. I got my wife's phone screen replaced, and it looks great, but the sticky tape on the speaker never fully stuck to the new frame, so it sounds terrible (like an AM radio inside a cardboard box) when playing audio, so she won't use it. Any tips on getting the speaker to stick to the new frame so it sounds good again?

    Hi. Great informative video, and very clear method and commentary. I'm planning on changing my screen. What wattage of heat gun do you use?

    • @DIYGeardo
      @DIYGeardo  ปีที่แล้ว

      About 60-80c is good for around 2-3 minutes on the screen edges. Then as needed with 30 seconds intervals.

    • @mikkocase
      @mikkocase ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DIYGeardo Hey, thanks for your response. And the temperature I should aim for. But how powerful is the heat gun you use yourself? I have one that is 2,000W. Is that OK, or will it just melt my phone?

    • @DIYGeardo
      @DIYGeardo  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikkocase don’t you have an option to control the heat? For what purpose you are using this machine?

    • @mikkocase
      @mikkocase ปีที่แล้ว

      My heatgun only had two settings: hot and f***ing hot, so I bought a new one with 45°-650°C range. The battery took quite a while to get out - probably wary of using too much heat, so guess I used not enough - and it got a little squished at the bottom edge. But all in all I got the screen replaced in little over an hour.
      Overall then it probably cost me about as much as taking it to a shop, BUT now I've learnt new stuff and am set up for tackling these jobs in future and for friends too!
      Cheers for the help! 👍

    • @DIYGeardo
      @DIYGeardo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is quite hard to say without looking at it.But if you don't feel any issues with the battery life or heating, it should be fine.

    • @rachaelburdick8191
      @rachaelburdick8191 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It sounds like the same thing happened to your battery that happened to mine. My battery got a bit warped/soft at the end after applying heat and prying it out. I gently pressed it into the new screen/frame and carefully reshaped the end, and after reassembling everything, it seems to be working alright so far. Hopefully yours works out okay too.

    Great tutorial. However, taking out the battery was harder than on the clip. Battery slightly bent while removing, and stayed a little bent. Also, battery cover is a little creased, stretched where there was glue. Is it safe to install that battery in new frame? Thank you.

    Thx for the video, and sry for the stupid question. I have samsung a12 (bought it january 2021, no fingerprint sensor) and the screen is broken, only the glass, otherwise it is ok. Can I just but a new glass or do they usually sell the screen&glass as a packet deal? Also, if I have to open my phone, I was thinking that maybe I better to change the battery at the same time, I've been using this since january2021, and usually li-po batteries start dying around 18 months if I charge it every day.

    • @DIYGeardo
      @DIYGeardo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. it is quite hard to replace just the screen glass. You have to go with LCD & Touch assembly unit. You have two options, go for a genuine screen or aftermarket. Since the phone is quite old, the choice is with you. Yeah, you can replace the battery on the same time. Try to get with the frame.The repair will be easier.

    How do you put it back if you have the screen without the frame?

    • @DIYGeardo
      @DIYGeardo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You need to open the back cover; You do not need to take out the logic board. But you need to take out the bottom speaker cover. Then disconnect the lcd plug from the charging port board and the Other lcd plug from the mainboard (long cable). Then you need to apply heat to the screen from the front side to take out the lcd screen. We have some lcd only screen repairs (galaxy a51) for reference. Take out the screen and place the new screen with adhesive. Just make sure to clean the frame edges and apply suitable adhesive (b7000/or precut screen adhesive, do not use any super glue)

    Personally I think applying heat to the wrong side of the battery isn't really a very good idea😂 the better option would be to use something like a hot plate that is only just hot enough to touch or ideally a 3D printing heat bed Set to about 55 degrees Celsius

    • @DIYGeardo
      @DIYGeardo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Applying heat from above is fine as long as your battery is not swollen. Using liquid is good, isopropyl alcohol, but make sure it is not going everywhere. If it goes to the screen, the screen might damage.heat little and use a pry tool to remove the battery

    OK so I have to tear the whole phone to pieces without breaking anything and I have to remember how to put it back together AND I need a heat gun! This is bullshit. I remember my older cheaper phone never got a broken screen cause the back would just pop off. This says a lot about how mobile companies expect us to keep buying new phones.
