- Hello Everyone! In this video I Etch a dragon and castle scene onto a axe head. Im trying to learn how to add shading to my etchings. I learned a lot in this video on how to do it better. I didn't do a VoiceOver on this video, but I will go over everything that I learned on the next one. I feel like I'll have more to say then. Thank you so much for watching I really appreciate it. If you have any questions please leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

Awesome work!
Thank you.
I didn't know this was a thing that's possible! 😮 ❤
Bravo sir!!!
Thank you.
Wow what a great job on that texturing on the scales. Amazing etch job drew definitely my favorite one. The dragon jumps out with that texturing job.
Thank you. I really appreciate it. I’m definitely gonna keep experimenting with the two tone etching. And shading.
Very well done
Thank you very much!
Looks awesome keep up the great work
Thank you.
Great job!!!
Thank you.
Insanely great work! I know you were just doing this one too learn and grow and figure out what works best for you and your vision but it's still amazing, I love to watch you work, a true artist.
Wow, takes way more patience than I would ever have. Even with your admitted mess-ups, I guess you'd have to be a real expert to see them.
Drew, that's the thing about a happy accident. I've got over half a century of putting in floors. I can't tell you the number of times that doing it wrong looked better than doing it right. Excellent work, young man. Or to put it another way, a mistake made is just another opportunity to do it better the next time.
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
And just a thought, you could see if you could link the products your using and get some kickbacks with discount codes or something. How long did you do your etching bath too? Did you reapply paint for the 2nd etching brush? Last question what did you brush on with the ear swab? Just some alcoholic. Looks amazing man! Be proud plus with the filming and editing, this is soooo muchhhh work!!!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. I etched it for about 30 minutes total. Then yes I added paint when I did the background. The background I did for about another 20 minutes. At the end, I use Jack’s iron, steel and nickel blacker to darken the background. Then I do a light sanding using something with a hard back, that way you don’t sand out the background..
@drewdoesart9277 thanks for the info. looks good G! Be proud
Sorry maybe im dumb, but you traced the image using the tracing paper correct and then you traced the tracing paper using the 2nd type of paper and then burnished it onto the matte paint correct?
Yes, I use the tracing paper to create the design with all the different elements. And then I use that finished design, and I’ll trace that onto the transfer film. And then I’ll burnish that onto the paint. You definitely don’t have to use the tracing paper. You could just do it straight to that transfer film. I feel like I get better results when I trace everything 1st.
How long do you let the paint dry before etching the image?
I let the paint dry for 24 hours before I etch it.
How long did you let it etch in the water salt solution?
The first time I did it for 30 minutes. And then the background I did another 30 minutes.
@ thank you sir
Awesome work!
Thank you.
