    As Chinese, I think it is worthwhile to mention the romance of naming for those spaceship and projects. All come from either poems " Tian Wen (Sky Quiz by Qu Yuan, 300 BC"”, or Fary tales, like the Yu Tu (Jade Rabbit which is a famous pets holding by the beauty Chang'e ) ...quite romantic.

      Yeah, western space stuff is always a bit boring or ridiculus with it´s names. Or absolutely uncreative with ground telescopes. Really "The Very Large Telescope. And lets not forget the "Extreamly Large Telescope". It´s exactly what the name says at least? I think meterologists have the acronym game down when it comes to lightning. SPRITES, ELVES, TROLLS, PIXIES and GHOSTS. Someone really went to town there and got creative.

But one could be more creative with the infrastructure and project names. Would probably help with publicity, I don´t really care for it outside of likeing cool names, but the average layperson looks at the names in the news and instantly looses interest. I think science as a whole has something of a publicity problem too. So far that it´s actually detrimental for science, funding and acceptance wise, by now.

    • @kekeke1201
      @kekeke1201 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Trgn Idk how you think it was by any means meaningless. The US can be in such a position today because it held almost monopoly in the spearhead advancements of scientific research and implementation, which in turn leads to the most advanced military and that supports US's financial especially fiscal might over the world. Suggesting China should start cooperating after banning it from cooperation for so many decades just because there is a modern Spacestation to play on is nothing short of shameless.
      Some audacity of the US officials demanding China to switch all its on-board system to be native English is nothing but outrages. After all those years limiting, repressing, containing China, US simply can't help to drip its saliva all over the brand new cake. One that is built by Chinese, paid by Chinese.
      So, I don't see any reason why China should share its space, not the Space, with the US just because all of the sudden US wants (?) to take advantage of the newly built station after block and denying China access to ISS for all those time.

  • @lagrangewei
    @lagrangewei ปีที่แล้ว +57

    why the module has similar width is because China also use the standardise space rack use on the ISS. this allow experiment rack that are designed for the ISS to be wholesale transparented into the CSS, the only modification require would be power and data bus connection. this is to allow for foreign and commerical experiment to be introduced to the CSS in the future without them needing to spend alot of time to redesign them for the CSS.
    another reason why the CSS look spacious is because alot of the hardware is mounted externally to reduce noise within the cabin, why ISS never do this is because the main launch, space shuttle and proton rocket has a payload bay that is just enough to fit the module (or rather, the module are design to just nicely fit them), while the Long March 5 has an expanded fairing to allow the designer to layout the equipment as they like rather than to try and fit it inside a limited payload bay.
    while the wolf amendment only stop NASA astronaut from cooperating with China, nothing actually stop them from "retiring" and working as a private contractor for US business or NGO from working on the CSS. some US university had already planned experiment for CSS, if they believe there is a need to have their own staff, they can always buy seat from China as private institution and hire retired US astronaut to work. this is unlikely given commerical option may appear in the near future but as it currently stand, american could visit the CSS in the capacity of "private citizen" if the law doesn't change again.

The ISS was designed back in the 90s (including Congressional backlogging and Passover runs bureaucracy) pretty much and the Chinese space station was designed probably in the 2010s ( To be expandable for new modules)so their space station has a 20-year advantage over the ISS.

      Likely they will because larger payload fairings are available and more to come (such as Starship). While the Destiny module looks cluttered, the Kibo module, for example, looks much cleaner. They even tested an inflatable module that was built by Bigelow Aerospace. The Destiny is called "The Lab" because it's where a lot of work is performed. There's a Canada Arm 2 control station in there, a Canada Arm 2 simulator, an Earth photography window, the exercise bike is in there, and a whole lot of experiment racks. Some are simply installed by the astronauts and scientists on the ground operate them. Others have to be performed by hand. Clean is nice but it wasn't a top concern. The cost to train and launch each astronaut is pricey. They're expected to do a lot of work. Along with their station-keeping duties, there's very little downtime.
      Companies and research institutions pay untold millions for those experiments to be done and performed to strict procedures. The schedule of everything they'll be doing for the 6-month (sometimes longer) duration of the mission is determined before they even launch. Along with cleaning, practicing upcoming experiment procedures, fitness, payload handling (which is a full job in and of itself), performing conferences with scientists on the ground, etc. they work well over 15 hour days.

Ninguna. Cero. ¡Nada! China no ataca.

    It is nice to know that Tiangong Space Station is fully operational with the launching of Shenzhou-15. China is able to complete the Tiangong Space Station and conducted space exploration and science experiments in space. Due to the US refusal to allows China to participate in space exploration and the US even passed law like the Wolf Amendment in 2011 to banned China from engaging in direct, bilateral cooperation regarding space exploration and scientific experiments. As a result, China decided to build its own space station. It is a new beginning for China and the world outside the US and the West to do scientific experiments and collaborating with one another on scientific discoveries. China need to cultivates hardy crops like rice and wheat to sustains future population growth all over the world. Population explosion, deforestation and global warming due to human activities thereby causing an irreversible damage to the environment which results in degrading the condition for our own survival. China is focus on the scientific experiments. As a result, China decided to build its own space station. It is a new beginning for China and the world outside the US and the West to do scientific experiments and collaborating with one another on scientific discoveries. China has given the world the opportunity to do scientific experiments and allow other countries to used its space station and has signed agreements with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs on space station cooperation. It is an opportunity for China and other countries to participate in scientific experiments in space and new discoveries. China space station offers great opportunities for the world at large in term of space exploration and science. Already, 9 projects involve 23 institutions from 17 Member States of the United Nations in Asian-pacific, European, African, North American and South American regions, including governmental organizations, private sectors, and international associations are participating. All the projects are collaborative international efforts reflecting the creativity and commitment of the involved scientists from public and private entities in both developing and developed countries. China built its own Tiangong space station because the US do not want China to participate in space research and prohibited Chinese citizens affiliated with a Chinese state enterprise or entity. With Tianggong Space Station up and running, it offers an opportunity for collaboration with other countries in scientific field in space.

    The little experiment airlock system seems similar to the Skylab experiment airlock (with modern automation). The modules themselves look a little like Salyut or Mir modules that require the flexi-ducts between modules for ventilation. When Mir caught fire, that was a real problem for sealing off sections, because so many wiring bundles and ducts had to be disconnected before the module could seal.
    As for the design of the station itself, it seems to be more common sense than some American designs. I would rather we had something that was easily expandable like theirs. The ISS design was too fixed, with the Truss structure and all that. But I guess we have more flexible and efficient solar panels in the 21st century as compared to the 1980s and 90s when the ISS design began and was eventually finalized.
    Some of the Commercial station designs are more like the Chinese plan, and will be able to be built, used, and expanded over time gradually.

    Wow, they seem to be really investing in this fast very fast. All these things cost considerable amounts each, I'm surprised. Nasa needed to cooperate with companies and took a long time. Space x did similar but not really focused on one thing and had mass business involved I believe, plus private threlanthropy in the form of Elon. The Chinese have a big culture around tidiness, the panels may be to hide things for political security but likely to close those areas off to denote what's fone and what's at present focus; it also helps with organisation and discipline. Having an open space also really helps with morale and other psychological things, looking clearer is less stressful and brings a clearer mind to focus better :) I personally follow the ethos somewhat and agree, though not cultural for me

      wolf is a congressman who basically refused to approve NASA budget unless NASA cut cooperation with Chinese, not only can NASA not cooperate in space, they can't even allow Chinese scientist and reporter to enter NASA convention. this got so bad that many US scientist stage a walkout on NASA hosted event in support of their chinese co-researcher. wolf was kick out of office half a decade ago, but the law he put in place remain unchanged.

Ninguna. Cero. ¡Nada! China no ataca.
