  • In today's video, Paul Drew from The Studio Rats is checking oput the brand new Boss Waza Craft BP-1W Booster Preamp.
    This fully featured preamp pedal takes the favoured preamp tones form the sort after boss CE-1 and The Boss RE-201.
    Here is what Boss say about the Waza Craft BP-1W Booster Preamp.
    Premium Waza Craft pedal with authentic vintage preamp
    sounds from the BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble and Roland
    RE-201 Space Echo.
    The vintage BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble and RE-201 Space Echo are legendary for their inspiring and influential effect sounds.
    But they’re also loved for their variable analog preamp circuitry, which instantly infuses any guitar tone with character, body, and richness. With the BP-1W, you can now access these two classic preamp tones in a premium Waza Craft pedal, along with a natural, clear voice that functions as a standard clean boost.
    • Waza Craft innovation for a premium analog tone experience
    • Premium booster and preamp pedal with analog circuitry derived from legendary
    BOSS and Roland effects
    • Versatile design with three selectable modes
    • CE mode reproduces the bright, bell-like preamp sound of the BOSS CE-1 Chorus Ensemble
    • RE mode reproduces the fat, warm preamp sound of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo
    • NAT mode provides a natural clean boost with minimal sound coloration
    • Gain knob controls the amount of saturation introduced into the signal
    • Level knob for controlling the overall volume and driving the inputs of amps and other pedals
    • Selectable standard or vintage input buffer with different tone and response characteristics
    • Made in Japan
    • BOSS five-year warranty

    This is the best pedal I’ve seen in years.
    I spent years using a Space Echo purely for the pre amp tone. Finally an easy way to get it back.
    Brilliant stuff from Boss. Such a clever company.

    I love Boss. They sound great (with all respect to the boutiques) ,but functionally they’re superb. When your adrenaline is peaking and it’s time to hit that drive pedal for your lead, there’s nothing like putting your boot to Boss pedal.

    I was a boutique pedal junkie. Changed my mind and going the Boss pedal route. These pedals dont have the same sound quality as the boutique pedals out there, but they always sound great in a mix. Something these Boss pedals can do. Making music with others is what counts!

      Ehhhh, wouldn't say that Boss pedals don't have the same quality as a boutique pedal. Have you seen the new one trick delay pedals? There's a reason why those go for $499-$599 😅

    • @chesneytube1
      @chesneytube1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've noticed that they often sound better in the mix compared to boutique pedals as well... Maybe due to the fact that they have a super clear sound where boutique pedals can be softer. Boutique pedals sound better on their own though (to me at least).

    • @PedalPoopers
      @PedalPoopers 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@chesneytube1 They have multiple one trick delay pedals but something tells me that id I were to name them, you might try to give me some reasons they're not. Let's face it though, Boss is known for being the king maker of one trick delay pedals within the industry.

    • @PedalPoopers
      @PedalPoopers 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Boss pedals always sounded good in the mix (even without mods back in their hayday) because they knew how to make decent. Fast forward to 2023 and they have the experience and know how to make excellent buffers where boutique makers usually have an extremely hard time doing so. It's not an easy task, same with an fx loop for a boutique tube amp. Boss has also had a great ear for EQ since the late 80's

      @odgeUK 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I like the GE7 as a boost too, but found it a little bit noisier than using, say, an MXR Microamp, and it didn’t really have much scope to add gain, without tap dancing another overdrive pedal at the same time.

    Does jammin Boss BP-1W make anyone else really happy?
    Boss BP-1W is quickly becoming my favorite pedal. It's just so beautiful and sexy. Practically free and the second you drop her on the board that chill ass mofo gives you a Rich Dark Gushing Robust tone.. And you also get this cute little 1/1 feedback response usually too harmless to be forgotten.
    But more than that, the Boss BP-1 is just so positively alluring. It comes on the board like "do you want to cast a spell?" and I'm like "yeah BP-1W i do want to cast a spell let's do this shit" and when she attacks she's like "SPELLS ARE FUN" and I'm like "yeah they are SO FUN." She doesn't say some bullshit macho shit like "I will destroy you" she's just like "nah spells are fun and voodoo spooky.” And she looks so happy. I mean this is an inanimate object that literally brought my guitar to life by magic. It understands it's life is a temporary magical gift and the dude is just fucking loving it. I mean just look at her face she’s just so happy and cute as a button.
    I am literally never sad when Boss BP-1W is on board. IDK if she's gonna ever make it into the pedal HOF or not, but for now she a super chill pedal.

    I just bought this pedal, gigged with it twice, love it but still not sure the best way to use it in my rig. Last gig my chain was: Fender Telecaster - Peterson Strobe Tuner - Wampler Ego Mini Compressor - Xotic Effects RC Booster V2 - BOSS WAZA CRAFT BP1W - into Mesa Boogie California Tweed. (Strymon Brigadier Delay in effects loop). Sounds great but I also have a Wampler Tumnus, a Strymon Riverside, and wonder if Im missing out on a good tone not using these pedals. Im also wondering if Im using these pedals in the correct order. My band plays everything from classic rock to 80s, to 90s alternative but nothing too heavy. Any advice or perspective is appreciated! I know a lot of this is subjective. Just a note on BOSS functionality: the BP1W has the smoothest pedal engagement ever, easy touch to engage and very responsive with just a tap of the toe. This pedal "feels" good to operate compared to most others - just an observation!

    So, this is like an EchoPlex preamp pedal, right?
    It uses the preamp of the big tape echo delay unit that modified the guitar signal's tone.
    Also can be used as a booster but if you put this in the FX loop, harsh sounding amps become way more pleasant and add its a tonal warmth etc.
    Works great into plexi's / Marshalls. A part of Eddie van Halen's signal chain.
    I am intrigued!

      It's not the same, this (preamp) is just like... signal saturation, very transparent, the sd-1 is like preamp amplifier with tone control

    my ears must suck, because i can barely hear the differences among the three modes. it would be a waste of money for me personally.

      It really depends how your listening, try headphones or speakers. You’re not going to hear much from a phone if that’s what you’re using.

    If I wanted this pasteurized sound by waza I'd get a katana....yuk.

      You say pasteurised, this is not a digital pedal. The circuit is analog.
