The IDRA casting machines are fundamental. The cars built in Shanghai are pretty much perfect because of the extensive use of castings.
This makes me think how all the manufacturers laughed at Tesla in the early days. That laughter has turned in to an "Oh shit, copy what they're doing". Awesome to see Tesla effectively reworking the automotive industry as we once knew it.
@@biga2769 I detail these when they come off the boat in shipments. Gapping & misalignment is much better on the Chinese manufactured Teslas from what Ive seen. We detailed 500 from the US in 2020 and the quality control was awful. I think we';ve done around 800 since december, all from China and they're much better. I think whilst China is known for bad build quality, workers from the US are more expensive and less efficient/experienced.

Never thought I would watch an opening video of a car factory! Never thought I would be so excited with it either! Especially driving it off-road with a lot of Tesla cars! Only with Tesla, my new fave car! I ordered another one. I have 2 pending, model 3 and cyber truck. Love my Y!
Is it really sustainable considering how much additional minerals needs to be mined? Also consider that EVs haul around way more mass, spending more energy transporting the same goods.
@@miklov but the energy they run on can be completely carbon neutral. And yes their batteries are more expensive in minerals but this will soon change. And pumping oil isn't possible without minerals too
@@miklov Minerals are mined and can then be recycled and energy in form of electricity can be produced in many different sustainable ways. So yes, it really is sustainable. And the side effect is that even if we still burned fossils to produce electricity, we would not do that in the middle of the cities like ICE cars are doing, so we'll get much less air and noise pollution where we spend most of our time.

@@sonacphotos not true, don't know where you got that info from but they are definitely going to produce the cybertruck they announced 2023 as the "start of production" year alongside the Roadster, while showing the commercial version of the truck the reason they didn't start earlier was because of the batteries that the Cybertruck and Roadster use, which are the same ones as the model Y since they didn't have enough production capacity for all models, and Giga Texas (which produces the new battery cell) wasn't ready, they decided to prioritize the most profitable of the models that use the new cell, which happens to be the model Y now that giga texas is officially operational it will need somewhere between 6 to 9 months to be at production capacity, which puts us roughly at the beginning of 2023, maybe even the end of 2022... so it makes sense they said 2023 is production year for the truck and roadster

@@robertweekley5926 As do some brand new $1M+ hypercars from MacLaren and others. One reviewer found unattached bolts, and a fair amount of a rust, even panels that touched when the doors were opened due to improper alignment. Every automaker deals with this.
My neighbor bought a model 3 and had issues as well. Water was leaking in near the passenger A pillar. They got it taken care of and are happy. Their only regret was not getting the dual motor version.
@@ChavezDIY definitely want the dual motor long range. Performance is fun, but makes 0 practical sense. I'll maybe as the added acceleration boost, but beyond that, more performance isn't really necessary.
Wanna know what left me disappointed at the party? The fact that Elon didn't unveil an electrified vandalism defense system for the Tesla Model S,3,X, and Y. Everything else was plain epic.

The IDRA casting machines are fundamental. The cars built in Shanghai are pretty much perfect because of the extensive use of castings.

@@biga2769 I detail these when they come off the boat in shipments. Gapping & misalignment is much better on the Chinese manufactured Teslas from what Ive seen. We detailed 500 from the US in 2020 and the quality control was awful. I think we';ve done around 800 since december, all from China and they're much better.
I think whilst China is known for bad build quality, workers from the US are more expensive and less efficient/experienced.

Is it really sustainable considering how much additional minerals needs to be mined? Also consider that EVs haul around way more mass, spending more energy transporting the same goods.
@@miklov but the energy they run on can be completely carbon neutral. And yes their batteries are more expensive in minerals but this will soon change. And pumping oil isn't possible without minerals too
sustainable energy is not linked with electric cars but with hydrogen ones.
@@miklov Minerals are mined and can then be recycled and energy in form of electricity can be produced in many different sustainable ways. So yes, it really is sustainable. And the side effect is that even if we still burned fossils to produce electricity, we would not do that in the middle of the cities like ICE cars are doing, so we'll get much less air and noise pollution where we spend most of our time.

My understanding is that Australia gutted their auto manufacturing abilities, so likely no new vehicle factory there. Batteries and/or solar are possible, though.

they announced 2023 as the "start of production" year alongside the Roadster, while showing the commercial version of the truck
the reason they didn't start earlier was because of the batteries that the Cybertruck and Roadster use, which are the same ones as the model Y
since they didn't have enough production capacity for all models, and Giga Texas (which produces the new battery cell) wasn't ready, they decided to prioritize the most profitable of the models that use the new cell, which happens to be the model Y
now that giga texas is officially operational it will need somewhere between 6 to 9 months to be at production capacity, which puts us roughly at the beginning of 2023, maybe even the end of 2022... so it makes sense they said 2023 is production year for the truck and roadster

@@robertweekley5926 As do some brand new $1M+ hypercars from MacLaren and others. One reviewer found unattached bolts, and a fair amount of a rust, even panels that touched when the doors were opened due to improper alignment. Every automaker deals with this.
My neighbor bought a model 3 and had issues as well. Water was leaking in near the passenger A pillar. They got it taken care of and are happy. Their only regret was not getting the dual motor version.

Congratulations Tesla Team Texas, and to Mr. Musk, I worked as a contractor at the Fremont assembly plant for a time until just before the model 3 hit its target of 35k.. the scale of the old nummi campus including its little offshoot down the street blew my mind, but giga Texas could eat that for lunch because as we all know everything is bigger down there. excited to see what's to come.

That’s a sector that is rife with development and ever expanding improvements that need to get off the ground soon. Many already want to if it wasn’t for development time from higher up companies and approvals to be given by flight regulators.
