Those Colorverse ink cards are awesome! That is exactly the kind of thing I never knew I wanted to make up for my lack of artistic ability and to make my Hobonichi a little more fun
I was always someone who stayed away from Benu because they seem so over-the-top, but after buying my first one, and seeing how beautifully made they are in person, I will absolutely be ordering the sangria pen.
The question rose to me is how much does the thick vacuum rod affect the ink capacity of the reservoir in the new Visconti Opera? Any tested ink volume for reference, please? My own expectation for a vacuum filling pen is around 1.8 ~ 2.5 ml, though.
Some amazing new stuff!! The Colorverse ink art cards to me is such a refreshing “new thing.” I thought that is so cool in terms or originality and practicality. People with a huge ink library will dig it!😅 Love the Visconti! I think the price is on point. Come on!! That is one gorgeous design and the ink window on the section where the hook-safe is, that’s brilliant!!! 😊
I love the fact that Visconti decided to make the piston rod thicker. I wouldn't say the standard size is a problem but it's definitely more reassuring having a thicker rod with more stability. I must admit I get tired of fighting with my TWSBI vac700r at times.
if you do feel hard to work with vac700r, it might help a lot to grease the piston with the silicon grease that comes with the box... I always feels getting a new pen after doing that
I feel bad for Drew trying to pronounce “rencontre”. Rolling those French “r”s is hard for English speakers. I don’t know if you are accepting suggestions for other ideas for refreshment inspired pens, but I would buy a boba milk tea pen in a heartbeat. And I have heard only good things about Benu’s pens, so they are on my wishlist.
It seems to me that the largest colorverse sheet could be used as a postcard although you may want to cover it in tape to prevent water damage. Mainly it has the appeal of the Paint-by-numbers sets we senoirs remember getting when we were kids in the 1950's.
6:57 I've actually seen that on the box before! I don't think it's on the bigger boxes, but I've got two of the smaller boxes in about that size that has those properties on it!
So happy with Colorverse's new paper offerings. I own a ridiculous number of coloring books but none of them will hold up to fountain pen ink, so the coloring pages are a must buy! And the ink art cards are perfect for those of us who want to paint with our inks but can't draw to save our lives, lol.
Drew missed you in Baltimore. Bought my mythos from Goulet. Reported a bad magnet in the pen top. Visconti rep swapped it out at the show. Bought the opera gold in black. Awesome pens. They are gorgeous pens and nibs write better than my 18k Platinum 3776. Visconti is elegant and design is eye catching. Many compliments from observers.
On the Visconti, with the thicker piston rod does that seem to have any real effect on the ink capacity or in how easily it fills? I'm kind of assuming that if it's a Visconti vacuum filler it's going to be an ink tank either way, but wondering if that has much of a noticeable effect.
Goulet should carry the Opera Demo again. It sells for $400 and has a gold nib. Visconti is about their gold nib, not their stainless steel. Their stainless steel nibs isn't up to par with the #6 jowo nib.
Any news of a clear EF preppy? I know I could swap nibs but I’m looking for a clear pen that I like that’s inexpensive enough I can really have a decent sized set of colored pens so I don’t want to end up buying twice as many. I like the preppy but could also go shooting star/little meteor too. I’m considering the kakuno but would probably get into some resin if I went that rout to plug the holes
Brian & Drew, Hello! Are you familiar with the new Journaler nib by Esterbrook? Will you be stocking it? Thank you for all the wonderful information & videos! MJ Busch
Absolutely no offense to anyone that like a those Benu pens, but I just recoil whenever I see any of them. Obviously not the person they are trying to sell to, but to each their own.
I thought they moved from Ukraine to Armenia due to the war in Ukraine. 🤷♀️ I love my Iced Caramel Latte after I swore I would never buy a glittery pen. It is beautiful looking and writes like a dream. Perfect solid feel. Next one I get will be in the Talisman collection. Maybe Foxglove. ❤️❤️❤️
Not quite, and apologies if this sounds like 'mansplaining'. It's actually Ron-con-truh. The last 'e' is hardly sounded at all. The e would have an accent such as é for it to be ron-con-tray. Sorry to be such a pedant.
@@MauriceHotblack I stand corrected! I hope we can all still acknowledge that being correct isn't the sole reserve of either gender. Thanks for the info!

Those Preppy pens look lovely, I love a 'sprinkling of glitter'
Classy looking Preppy...what a new proposition.
I was always someone who stayed away from Benu because they seem so over-the-top, but after buying my first one, and seeing how beautifully made they are in person, I will absolutely be ordering the sangria pen.
Same! Went from skeptical to owner of several! I'd absolutely get the Sangria if I didn't already have the Euphoria in Armenian Pomegranate.
I just received my Goulet order today and now I am itching to place another.
Haha we'll be here, don't worry! - Drew
Preppy has nailed it this time! Thanks Drew, for zooming in on the finishing touches. They are much better looking this time. 🖋❤️🙋🏼♀️
I was pretty impressed! - Drew

Wow I absolutely love the art papers and the new visconti. I have to say im kind of sad you cant ship to Canada right now...

Agreed! It's nice to see them choosing to improve, even when it's not a necessity. It's a good sign! - Drew

When I first saw Benu, I thought they were way over the top and had no desire to buy one. I now own FIVE!🎉
What a fantastic idea with the Boba Tea!

Oh dear! My childhood experience has turned into a grown-up one. I buy adult paint-by-numbers kits all the time! Such a peaceful thing to do.
6:57 I've actually seen that on the box before! I don't think it's on the bigger boxes, but I've got two of the smaller boxes in about that size that has those properties on it!
Yeah, they've been doing that on that size of box. Super cool, right? - Drew
Drew was in a bit of a rush here, wasn't he? 😂I like the beefier rod on the Viscontis. Certainly a welcome addition.
I don't need another BENU, but that red sangria is awesome... and OF COURSE there are sparkles!

I love the coloring sheets, its my primary use of fountain pens
Oh that Golden Olive by Sailor.
Pretty sharp, right? - Drew

I’m stoked on everything here, but that new Visconti is high-speed and low drag!
On the Visconti, with the thicker piston rod does that seem to have any real effect on the ink capacity or in how easily it fills? I'm kind of assuming that if it's a Visconti vacuum filler it's going to be an ink tank either way, but wondering if that has much of a noticeable effect.
Finally we are ending the draught of new products, nice video!
You're right about that! - Drew
That visconti pen 💗
Goulet should carry the Opera Demo again. It sells for $400 and has a gold nib. Visconti is about their gold nib, not their stainless steel. Their stainless steel nibs isn't up to par with the #6 jowo nib.
Being frank, these steel nibs by Schmidt can often be just as reliable as Visconti's gold nibs - sometimes even more so! - Drew

Is it possible to write on the back of the Colorverse Ink Art cards?
Those cards look like a great way to use up some extra ink. I’d send them to pen pals.
Love that Opera, even my nearly twenty year old Visconti Opera is jealous. :)
Where are the Pilot Custom 743s? I thought they were supposed to drop this week
They hadn't released at the time of this recording. I'll probably cover them next week! - Drew
@@Gouletpens Thanks
Do you think the caramel latte Benu will ever be restocked?
I think Sailor missed the mark in their mini. They should have made the cap smaller. Looks like it is the same size as the normal ….
yeah, the proportions are just odd...
coloring sheets are out of stock on your website already
But, Drew, is it nice to see them improve on something they already do pretty well? Or is it nice to see them improve on one thing they do well? 😉
Is it possible to review pelikan m1000 with all possible nib sizes please...

Ren (like the wron in wrong, nasal "n"); con (co with a nasal"n"); Tre (truh)
I cant find the swatch papers by searching on your web site
I have links to the products I mentioned in the video's description! :). - Drew

Yeah. I'm with you. Unfortunately, not my circus either.
yeah, I don’t like them either, but I appreciate their effort to come up with so many original designs. They clearly know what they are doing
With all the sanctions against Russia, should we really be buying pens from a company based in Moscow?
@johnantonioni9654 Last year, Benu relocated their operation. They're no longer in Russia, but rather manufacturing their pens out of Armenia. - Drew

French pronunciation of "Rencontre" = Ron-con-tray. Of course, the French "r" is another thing again, but this would be closer? 💛

Those opera pens are gorgeous, but that's way too much for a steel nib pen. I'd rather pay $150 more and get a gold nib.
Visconti prices are not justified for the Mythos and Opera, they are over priced
Where's Brian
He'll be doing a video next week, as well as every Friday on the Pencast! - Drew
no safaris yet?? 😕😕
