I love this "with lyrics" version. There are some things I wanted to analyze 1. The ending phrase starting with, "Here to beat out prohibition" is very clever. It sounds like their oath or plead to the mob and it makes sense for every member to end their verse with that. 2. The rhythm of the lyrics are very clever. Especially "Rakes the dough in" was very nice and definitely caught me off guard. 3. Finally, it has the charm of cuphead. The voices are perfect, the jokes are very smart, and the order of the verses are very well organized. 4. The new composed instrumental for the light bug part was very well done too. OVERALL: Very good job everyone who was a part of this. I can't wait to see more "With Lyrics" from this channel.
Honestly just transitioning to the Snail part without it would've been fine in my book, but you gotta appreciate how he managed to include in the victory fakeout in the song and have it not break up the flow of the song.
"Don't you clap on one and three" that line the jitterbug says is a reference to Jazz music standards, where you never clap on the beats one and three on a 4 beat song, you almost always clap on 2 and 4, it gives the song the jazzy groove.
It's all about element of surprise, after all. Not complaining, I was actually caught off-guard by his move in the game, thankfully not with fatal results. Besides, if you manage to run a successful underground moonshine distillery while having more dangerous animals and a FREAKING GIGANTIC COP NEUTRALISER OF AN ANT-EATER working for you, all while being a small snail with a microphone, you can't not be confident.
That’s not rlly what the developers were thinking. They wanted to catch u off guard and surprise u. In this case, they chose this option to troll the players.
“Our pint-sized enterprise built beneath the coppers eyes.” “Wanna scrap? Let’s escar-go! The real McCoy has come to throw!” “Here to beat out prohibition Shell the gin out, that’s our mission!” Gotta be some of my favorite parts, those lyrics are crazy good!
I’m gonna be frank here, I don’t like Bootlegger Boogie. Something about it leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Those weird vocal bits ruin it for me, and they felt forced.
@@shondawilson7474 it’s the song I don’t like about the Moonshine Mob. It’s an alright boss, but the song leaves a sour taste in my mouth, in game specifically
Love how each phase is represented in this song through the lyrics, from "eight limbs and they're all underhanded", to the "jitterbug" joke, let's not forget the incredible peak of lyricism that is "slurpslurpslurpslurpslurpslurpslurpslurpslurp" - I'm just kidding "speak in tongues" is definitely my nomination for the best Anteater line. Of course the voices you, EmilyGo and RecD did - from the higher-pitched mobster accent to the scatting flapper's voice to the anteater's baritone - and the slightly tinny KNOCKOUT voice of the snail - cannot go without mention for how much they add to the song!! Plus the artwork, from the big ol' mafia car with its own angry face, the smoke coming from Cuphead's straw, and just that big ol' "THE WHOLE GANG IS HERE" shot. Amazing work on what's definitely my favourite DLC song!
Bootlegger Boogie was the best song in Cuphead and giving it lyrics just makes it even better, giving the characters more personality with their voices makes me wish that they were characters in the Cuphead show
A season four, maybe? Seriously, an entire season dedicated to DLC events would be neat, even if with alterations to fit the TV show character depictions.
Defenitly one of my favourites you've delivered from the Delicious Last Course. I feel like this could count as an addition to RecD's Cuphead songs, especially since he voices one of the characters here.
I love how these musical numbers for Cuphead always feel like they'd be made in this the mid 20th century, complete with comical wordplay, charismatic voices, and that's called jazz!
Certainly not what I expected from this cover but I can see why this took so long with all the art pieces and voice cameos you had on. Definitely one of my favorite covers you’ve made just like I had hoped for!!
i love this entire fanmade arrangement (if that's what is called). but the highlight SURELY goes to EmilyGoVo singing (around 0:56 or so). i already loved Alana Bridgewater singing on the original version, but this sounds so extremely emphasized and you can tell that she definitely had lotsa fun doing her part just as much the other people that helped doing this version!
i knew juno would deliver bootlegger boogie as good as he did! i love how much the spider reminds me of angel dust from hazbin hotel, and the lightbugs voice is goddamn BEAUTIFUL! i also saw the one made by the muses mire, that ones really good too.
Dude, this was already ready god tier and yet you made it even better. All of the voices for the Moonshine Mob are basically amazing and fit the characters so well. Like dude, this is one of the best songs you did on your channel and how come we don't own the dlc.
How do you write lyrics as clever, jazzy and in-character as this? Like, what’s your process? I must know! I’m trying to write my own lyrics for another Cuphead song and would love to know how you do it!
listen to a bunch of oldies - jazz - and swing. The more you hear it, the easier it becomes. Find a group to base your style off of and do your best. Every songwriter in history has done this - everyone has their inspiration from the times that they grew up in to keep the legacy going. Find your flavor and roll with it.
I was thinking the Spider Mob sounded familiar and wouldn't you know it, I remember the Tape Boss from Paper Mario. Nice call back! (Even if it wasn't intentional)

I adore the “Let’s make a deal!” at the end. Really ties together the whole illegal selling of liquor shtick.
