I had the same idea of placing a desk on top but seeing it done is awesome. Will definitely move forward. Thank you sir!

Oh I am absolutely plagiarizing this design when I update the game room to properly accommodate my CRT. AWESOME work dude!

This made me nervous about my 28" B&O crt. I have it sitting on a typical old style tv bench, which I guess is fine. But the tv is attached to a very heavy metal stand in order to get it higher from the floor. Together they weigh too much. I think I gotta go take it down before it crashes. Anyway, it looks really great.👍

I already have a heavy 32 inch on that without the extra shelves for a few years and that did weaken is a bit but it held the 01 sony trini (heaviest crt I’ve owned lol) like a champ. Also to make things more interesting I slid that thing around my game room more times than I wanna admit to rearrange the space but I guess I was lucky it didn’t completely collapse.

And this is now exactly what I'm gonna do to set up my 36in Trinitron

I got a 6 cube from Target that has peg holes and color matched inserts that you could buy. I have inserts in the top 3 and bottom middle then I use 2 storage bins for controllers & cables. I don't think target sells the shelves with the peg holes anymore though which is shame.

There was this guy that shoved a bunch of different game consoles like you got INTO ONE GIANT COMPUTER TOWER. His name was yoshi this was around 2000. It was called yoshi's box. He showed on tech tv channel. Had a dial switch...??? To switch from one game consoles to the next.

Look into peg board to put on the back plus the holes u can use zip tires to manage cables. This is what I did on my 8 cube kallax that holds 16 consoles

I have a bare bones stock Kallax shelf with a 36 inch tv on top. Its been over a year and its still holding! Im nervous now though haha

This might be a dumb question but Is this set up still holding up well? Most of what I've read regarding IKEA tabletops are usually only rated to hold around 110 pounds and I just got a 32" Trinitron similar to the one in the video

I just bought the version with 8 cubes instead of 4, since I'm using them as TV stands. The 4 cube one is too small to be a TV stand. I don't feel the need to make the cubes smaller, since with two of the 8 cube units I have 16 cubes altogether which is enough to handle every console.

Nice! It’s hard to make a bad looking setup with Kallax units

I had some extra long systems from the 80s, for example the atari 800XL...these guys do not even fit sideways into the ikea cube shelves. I took out a piece in the middle and ran an extra long board width wise, covering 2 slots. Of course, this may make the structure much weaker. What would you recommend otherwise?

Honestly, I would recommend finding a completely different shelf. Also, some people build their own shelves that come out nice. I just have never gotten my skill to a point where furniture that I make from scratch looks good, But that’s just me.

Hey man solid idea. How much does that tv weigh? I’m guessing 60 lbs at least?

220 lbs literally said it on the video

I live in So Cal and I have the same system with glass shelves. It's an addon not a shelf replacement. I put mine in the middle, doubling the number of shelves.

Amazing until you want to put a game in the GameCube or top load cartridge systems.
