    The software used to design the aircraft is known as "FLYOUT". It's an early access game with little content currently available on it.
    ATTENTION: Flyout is currently unable to give out any more steam keys. In order to purchase the game, you will have to wait for the steam release. Thank you for understanding

    Give the AI a 5 or 6 Gen airframe to base some of its concepts on. Thrust vectoring could help the turning rate, conformal fuel tanks could help range...etc.
    Overall a very interesting video, went straight to the point with no stupid long intros or product plugs.

    • @haifai3916
      @haifai3916 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      If you pause after he feeds the flight test "data" into the AI, it actually recommends installing engines with thrust-vectoring capabilities.

    • @hughmungus5033
      @hughmungus5033 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thrust vectoring is good for nose authority, AoA, and high AoA/post stall maneuvers. It's not good, actually detrimental, for turn rate due to the increased drag as a result of increased AoA. Lower wing loading, or higher thrust (which this aircraft does not lack), would be the best solution to increase sustained turn rate. I do agree with you on the quality of this video, and conformal fuel tanks.

      "It is difficult to predict with certainty how AI will evolve in the coming decades, and whether it will ultimately have a positive or negative impact on humanity. However, it is important to note that AI is simply a tool created and controlled by humans, and its impact will ultimately depend on how we choose to use it.
      AI has the potential to bring many benefits to society, such as improving healthcare, education, transportation, and many other areas. It can help us tackle complex problems and make better decisions. However, there are also potential risks associated with AI, such as job displacement, privacy concerns, and the possibility of AI systems being used in harmful ways.
      To ensure that AI is used for the benefit of society, it is important to prioritize responsible development and deployment of AI systems. This includes ensuring that AI is designed and used in ways that align with human values and ethical principles, and that appropriate safeguards are put in place to prevent unintended consequences or misuse of AI. With responsible development and use, AI has the potential to greatly improve our lives and solve some of the world's most pressing problems." -ChatGPT

    Honestly, CAD automation in general will allow for designs to be done procedurally a lot quicker than via manual touchups. Likewise with testing, it'll be a lot easier to test a variety of scenarios and conditions. Obviously not now, but as AI tools become more powerful and accessible. I'd also like to see how it'd fare with a hypothetical seventh generation fighter, using best guesses as to what composites would work best, which avionics, what the onboard flight computer performance should be, how it'd optimize fuel + gross weight of munitions, etc, etc. Maybe in a year or two these tools will be powerful enough?

    yoooo i made this myself (totally didnt use chatgpt)
    The X-42 Vortex is a fictional fighter jet from the 1980s that fits your specifications. It has an aerodynamic design with a delta wing configuration, allowing it to reach speeds of up to Mach 2.3. It is armed with 6 AIM-9L missiles, along with a 20mm cannon.
    The X-42 Vortex was designed as a prototype for a new generation of fighter jets, with advanced avionics and stealth technology. While it was not specifically designed for stealth, it features a low-observable design that minimizes its radar signature.
    The X-42 Vortex was never put into production, but it was used for testing and research by fictional military forces in various conflicts. Its advanced technology and impressive performance made it a formidable opponent in air-to-air combat.

An observation to your point about human interpretation of AI commands/answers- When the AI said to use a delta wing, I assumed it meant like a Eurofighter, SR-71 or Concord style delta, not a tailed delta like a Mig-21. You went the tailed delta route, which is a thing (I had to look it up), but not what I was expecting. I wonder if you changed the design to be a full (tail-less) delta, if that would change the performance drastically. Maybe for the next video!

    1 - for more fuel capacity - from the central body of the aircraft - thicken the wings to blend with the bottom of the engines
    2 - fighter aircraft have BUBBLE canopies - complete the bubble canopy
    3 - for low speed maneuverability - use a cranked arrow on the delta wing
    4 - ALSO extend the leading edge of the wings forward to just past the pilot - or there-abouts - like the F/A18 Hornet
    5 - test that mod and let us know how it went

In fact I specifically asked GPT why this date was chosen. It said that the creators felt that any information less than 1.5 years old was too "fluid" and could end up being historically inaccurate.

    Very cool video gentleman, the aircraft also had a very expensive design from the 60's, it was very cool. It would be very interesting to see you try to create the ADF X - 01 Morgan from ace combat zero.

    imagine one of the engineers of USA actually connects multiple AIs and makes a fighter jet, then edits it himself and makes it much better and imagine how good it will be like

    what I noticed is when making the nose you can set the scale to 0 instead of scaling it manually

    Look up this thing called The Aero Gavin. It was a guy’s attempt to create a flying “tank”. It would be insane if you attempted to replicate his design, or make it into something even remotely flyable.

    So far i have used chat GTP to help me in designing 2 jet aircraft, i have been working on these for a few months and although are not the most practical aircraft are very exotic looking, on paper these aircraft would excel at the roles i designed them to but, irl they probably wouldn’t do so well. One of the aircraft is a ground attack aircraft and the other is a fighter/ interceptor.

    just add another control surface on the tail end of the fuselage (between the engines). turning will instantly approve with no panelty to accl/top speed.

    Considering some design portions of the F-35 were, IIRC, put through an AI to pit different ideas against each other and do some early testing, I'm not surprised to see ChatGPT make an aircraft based on some older, more well-established design principles. Very cool.

    Personally, i'd call it the F-100 Fireball
    F-100 because it looks like a mix of an SR-71, F-15, and F-14, thus 71+15+14=100. And Fireball because it's so ludicrously fast

    Fuel tanks in the wing. Also the vertical tails could be smaller and canted outboard with small fins below the engines. You could have enlarged the wing center section creating a blended wing fuselage with half cone intakes under it. More fuel and more lift.

    It seems like you could be the mecha designer of an 80s anime cartoon show.
    At first I saw the SR-71 then the F-15 and finally the F-14.
    Those comments about an orgy between them was right.
