Heyyyyy Muffy 🥰, thank you hun. But the people responsible for this work, and most of the work in the video where alive in between 1700 and about 1880.. this is how they told stories before there was real books or villages that were poor, would tell us story through the rug. Even kids would help with the weave so a lot of times you’ll see their story in the rug animals as well. Subtly

@veryfewrealleft1405 THE thing about art is vision. I see exactly were I can put one of those beautiful pieces. Also can't wait to hear more about the culture and history. Art is a conversation. How much are some of them?

Hey ZX , thanks for stopping by.
Everything just like paintings is how much someone that wants it , is willing to pay. Is it a dealer or a customer ?
Dealers obviously, just like with Cars are going to expect a price with room for ROI.
Whereas a Customer may have been looking for EG an mid 1800s SAROUK ( good rug to start learning because it’s popular in all Markets -US , UK, Italy , Germany-very popular, decorative pieces, and collector pieces so that’s why I say a good place to start.
Price dependent on size, region woven , age , & condition. That’s why my best customer , is an educated customer. That way they can tell me what they want to pay. Or how much they want to spend and then I’ll work with anybody from there because you gotta realize we’re dealing with everything is one of one
There is no 234 or five.
I even sometimes preferred to send customers home with the rug and say
“Here, live with it for a weekend “or
“live with it for a week”
and then they get a better feel for it and they let me know.
Sometimes I might say just come to this auction with me and I’ll get it for you at my price. Hard to do that for everybody but I make exceptions..
This 4th Generation ZX my Great Grandfather started this in a Basement.
and yeah, I take great pleasure in helping people learn about any kind of art that I have knowledge of or on , and I enjoy learning about things that I don’t know anything about as well.

Thank you Salt , read my reply to Sara I gave her a breakdown to how I would introduce anybody to what you’re seeing here and what I do, I sweeping floors when I was eight years old. & I learned to work and the whole lot more there. My pops was very generous, but not if you didn’t make any effort, so I showed interest young.

That’s my business, something is always for sale. I want people to be educated on what they buy, my Customers are promised to get a rug that will appreciate. I have customers that buy rugs fooled them up and put them in a closet for two years and bring them back and I paid 1600 on top of what I sold it for..
      ❤️ But there’s something for everybody ….

Such an unique, rare, elegant Store , but a whole 2 floors, of handcrafted, not one synthetic nothing except authentic textiles, before you meet another floor of paintings. When you use to say “a shop” I would think oh one room and an office. Then Kel and i visited. Blown away. Her Mom blown away. Nicest people ever. Not to mention first time on the Internet, anybody ever downplay anything people usually build it up bigger than it is you made it sound like a bodega 😂. 🥰

      Hey Sara , ❤️
it’s beyond belief. They resourced dyes from fruits & vegetables.
Of course the wool , from Sheep.
Woven for people in villages, to tell stories. Like anything with Exclusivity, the Wealthy will eventually want it. Especially when it’s undeniably, beautiful and decorative at the same time you make it limited in one of one it’s not like a piece of clothing where something is limited even if there’s 500 made.
Every rug one of one . No duplicates of anything ever sold out of our store. Everything handmade , Period
Pieces only.. 4th Generation Sara , my great grandfather came here when you had to be sponsored by somebody already here Middle Eastern people couldn’t go through Ellis Island, like European people could or the Chinese or other Asians.
They never teach you in school, but Middle Eastern people literally had to have somebody that was already in this country. Say basically I’ll give you an analogy like when somebody cosign for a car that way if you mess up they get messed up too so you’ll think a lot more about it when you have somebody put their neck on the line to vouch for you but it’s pretty ridiculous that They had to go through that to begin with, and he started with nothing.

@@veryfewrealleft1405 it’s really something your dna is woven into the fabric that’s deep. I always had to take time to admire stores like your family own. I like to know how things are made and the origins and history behind things. I love to paint pictures in my mind so I would begin to build a whole story behind a piece. The shops i have seen them in are in west London and i remember they were each tens of thousands of pounds. But it wasn’t the monetary value I was fascinated by. It was the people who were a part of its story the land it was conceived and created from. The culture traditions and symbols that spawned the artists concept. I would love to find one for myself one day. Ty for sharing them.
You spoke about having to find a guarantor to be accepted into USA. They do ask the same here in some cases. I don’t know the details but I always thought it was odd. How recently we invented passports and all that. It’s not too long ago humans could roam freely to a great extent 🌸

Yes, Sara absolutely. The entire UK is filled with Collectors , & London has tons of Persian & Armenian dealers.
They’re brokers more than anything, they help decorators obtain rugs, which I do as well. The only difference is the fact of my father has more knowledge in his pinky finger than every single one of them put together, and if you mention my father‘s name, even in London, and one of those shops that will be recognized, he’s recognized, is top two restorers in the world, even at his age of 77..
And yes, the sponsorship thing is very odd to say the least, especially when you could hitch a boat, and come from any European country and be widely accepted right into Ellis island in New York .
My family originally from New York as well. Just like we took a different route though.
You ready to go enjoy some BS f shid. 😂 where’s the party ?
