- We are perch fishing with lures again and this time we're fishing on a canal. I'm joined by Perch Masters sensation Thom Hunt who shows us how he finds and nails those absolute tanks from the canals in the uk.

I’ve been fishing for like a couple years now but most canals are scarce on pike these days and the ones around tend to be small jacks. So I took up the small scaled down approach to catch and started my perch journey absolutely loved it so far.

I fished my canal all autumn into winter once and got a single perch around a poundish. Tried float fishing and had two over 1lb 3oz on my first try. 😂

Been spinning for perch 50 yrs ,,,and the best spinner is the original Deven minnow ,you never see them today

Hopefully the river won't be in flood so I can get on the big perch we have some big perch behind Durham cricket ground in the river wear.Ill be on the freeze dried sprat on one rod and do a bit lure fishing too.

Hi been watching your videos for some time .they actually inspire me to go jigging for perch .
Im having trouble with the 1000s of lures available. Can you put me in the right direction with a few examples to give me confidence to build from please .as i am struggling and changing lures to often as i dont know what works etc .

That’s the Korum snapper net, discontinued now but you can still find a few for sale. Korum still make their telescopic handles though, just not with snapper branding on them. I can highly recommend either the opportunist handles or the new Allrounder ones 👍🏻

Regarding the bits of man made fibre you found, do you collect them and dispose of them or leave them where they are? Would be good if all TH-cam anglers could be roles models in teaching people to get rid of rubbish they find.

A very good point. It was in the canal, not sure why it was in there. Never had an issue with it before.
@@Lifeonthebank it's such a shame our waterways are collecting such items, hopefully enough angler's out there see the rubbish and clear it up. Appreciate your reply and thank you for the great content.
It doesn't matter what I do, I rarely get anything that size on my local cut. There's some bigguns in there, but the biggest I get, and we're talking below 1lb, are on a Ned rig or a spinner. Any tips?
I have found that the smaller perch will back off a bit as it gets colder. You’ll get fewer bites but more chance of a biggun! Keeping going mate!! 👍👍
Great video , but curiosity has got the better of me. Tom's jignead was different in the catch sequence than the review of his set up. An almost white colour. Is he keeping that secret ? B)
Hhmmm … you’ve rumbled him. 😂 Not sure the colour makes a difference personally. I think the weight of the jighead is way more important 👍
