on 04:10 you show dragon speech engine, but at the speech engine page in talon wiki there is only a windows version listed. where i can find the dragon for macOS?
I believe "dragon for macOS" has been discontinued by nuance. I have not been doing voice coding for a few years (this video is 4 years old); I would join the Talon Slack channel ( talonvoice.slack.com/ ) and ask questions there, many experts and they may know more information.
Glad you found it useful, be aware Talon v2 is coming very soon and there are many changes to how it works, I recommend checking out the Slack channel if you haven't already.
house9Tube oh yeah, I’m on the beta, but every little bit helps. I’m new and there is a huge learning curve. Status, currently struggling... but getting a little better.
I can't get it to work after putting the basic keys script in the user directory. i ran tail -f ~/.talon/talon.log in a terminal and saw ImportError: cannot import name 'Context' . dunno if that's important.
Yes, that is important; Maybe try re-installing Talon (or restarting if you have not already) - I recommend joining the Slack channel and getting help there.
It turns out it doesn't work with Catalina. Can I ask which version of dragon you were running here? I guess I need to get ahold of a copy, but nuance doesn't sell the Mac version anymore. Also were you running Mojave in the video?
@@BB-mr3vy Yes this was recorded with Mojave; I am currently running Catalina with Dragon without issue, but yes the built-in engine does not currently support it, there is a new version of the built-in engine that is under development. You need Dragon for Mac 6.0.8 and nauance no longer sells it, you might be able to find it on ebay. Usually you get 6.0.0 from purchase but you need to then update to 6.0.8.
@@house9Tube so if i can find 6.0.0 will i be able to update it to 6.0.8 after installing? or do i also need to find an upgrade disc on eBay? i wasn't sure what the fact that it's "no longer supported" actually means. I guess i can call nuance and ask.
Please note that Talon has evolved a lot since I made this video, you can read the updated docs here: talonvoice.com/docs/ and I recommend joining the Talon Slack channel to get help.
@@house9Tube $360 per year, 1700 in 5 years, 2x the cost of DNS16 = 999, therefore, it must give total control of the PC using AI better than Anthropic, and google, which costs less and recognizes voice too. For 30 a month I expect to say "Find my 3 web pages about XYZ", while i am in a text program, and also say "new text of gesture comand" to get new commands to control my PC. I also wanna say "arrange 12 tracks on cubase" "make an excel sheet about XYZ" and it uses Google's omniparse to fix it up.
@@bestelectronicmusicfromnew5189 talon voice is still free, are you talking about Dragon? Talon has a patreon if you want to donate but that is not required
Thank you so much, I'm looking forward to learning how to use talon now.
This was very helpful, thank you !
Super helpful in getting started!
Super helpful, thanks!
