Hey man, I've been watching your videos for almost a week now. Is this bike beginner friendly? I'm planning to get it as my first one. I still don't know how to drive one, will probably take classes for it net month.

Yo,, In terms of weight, handling & riding position I'd say yes very beginner friendly, obviously you'll still have to go through learning good clutch control/feathering & braking habits etc. but the bike itself is fine & very affordable, just be sure to have a local mechanic check the bike over & tighten any loose bolts/nuts as mine had a few(exhaust), that can lead to excessive vibration at higher speeds, other than that for a beginner its solid. Get some weighted bar ends(Cheap mod) if you find the handlebar has too much vibration, I just swapped the huge stock mirrors to bar end ones to add weight(vibration dampening).
That and check the chain has some lack(1-2" freeplay in the middle) & the tires arent over-pressured from the dealer, either bring your own pressure gauge to lower them or ask the dealer or closest mechanic to drop the pressure to around 30PSI for you, the skygo dealer here in bohol had my chain super tight & tire pressure up at 40+ which made the bike feel very rough & added vibrations.
If you live off a flat road then the stock tires are also fine, just be careful if you ever have to ride on wet roads(early morning or after rain) as street tires will slide much easier than dual sport(so stay off the front brake),, if you live on rough roads/mountains etc. then swapping to some dura dual sport tires might be worthwhile.

@@Jo3yization Thanks man! I'll come back to update you in a few months. Hopefully I can get it by october, will still do a driving school thing for bikes probably next month. I live in a somewhat rough road, but its like a few inches away from the city which is usually flat. Should I go for the dura dual sport tires? or just keep the stock tires? My place is like 5-6 mins away from the City.

@@Ciaotsu21 No worries, stock tires are fine as long as you be careful with speed & wet weather braking on the front(particularly wet concrete) and dont have to go through any mud, if your rough roads have medium/large stones(even embedded in concrete) then lowering the tire pressure a little can help but will take some experimenting, obviously you dont want to go too low but too high will feel skittish using street tires on rough road.
If you live off dirt roads then swapping the front to dual would handle better, but the front is still do-able for short distances especially if its mostly flat and no steep hills. Wet mud/concrete & hills youd want dual sport for the extra traction.
So in short, check everything I've mentioned & try out the stock tires first, then change if you notice the front doesnt feel good/stable past the learning phase.
      Hope that helps!

I've seen your in depth review on this bike in reddit and I'm interested in buying a bike like this, I'm curious as to how it's holding up given most of the parts are sourced from Lifan from what I have gathered online and heard that the quality of Lifan motorcycles are gennerally regarded as sub-par compared to established brands such as Hondas and Yamahas.
Also, I'm curious if this is better than a Honda TMX Alpha or is it worse? I've heard that the brakes in the Boss 150 is a bit better safety wise than the TMX since the the Boss 150 has a disc brake on the front.
You also said in your review that the engine gets hot too fast, and the stock carburetor is crap if I recall correctly.
I should consider buying an oil cooler and a new carb to be safe and make sure it lasts long.
And one last question, is the engine bay compatible with a TMX 155 engine or do you have to make some mods to make it fit?

For an air cooled engine in the mountains it heats up, highway riding full stock would be fine imo as the stress & airflow is nowhere near as bad as a low speed hillclimb, but I'm not sure about torque & throttle range on the stock carb for extended highway rides if there are any slight inclines where you want to drop to a lower gear for more torque & give more throttle, it might not be very responsive, for 'cruise' riding the stock carb would be ok but 50%+ hillclimbs in my experience, it couldnt provide stable fuel delivery past 1/4th throttle which would limit the max speed down in the 20kph range(fairly steep hills here though so its a little unfair.
The motor itself is still running great though thx, lifan arent as good as a genuine honda CG150, but close enough coming from my previous Honda XRM 125 & XR150L, no complaints really given how cheap it was... For backriding I'd say the TMX is better purely for the seat, but motor & build wise(our neighbor has an old TMX) I'd say they are pretty close just different frame/seat style, the Boss 150 seat design while it 'looks' like it would be ok for a pillion, really isnt that comfortable for more than short rides, especially over bumps.
Safety wise I havent driven a TMX but going steep downhills with lots of engine & front+rear braking I have zero complaints. This particular vid we're chatting on was 4 months ago, here's a more recent one from a month back, th-cam.com/video/G4B4udGwbGM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0RMRhKNjZeQaBM_U last ride off camera was about a week ago & its still going strong.
