    The fact that I drill in downtown Houston and I wasn’t invited to this competition automatically pisses me off.
    These guys drill in wide open fields. I drill all over Houston in busy streets

    Impressive, kinda. In the early 90's I learned to run one of Ditchwitch's first directional machines. The Jet Track 440. Crude and small. The sonde had very marginal electronics, and the machine had many of its own including lack of pulling power. To make things worse, no one in the state of Kansas knew how to run one, especially in different soils. Our town has it all, clay, rock, sand, etc etc. Depending on what part of town you were in or how deep you had to go. Lets just say we (I) flew by the seat of my pants. I was good. I didn't need fancy electronics, although they would have been nice. Many times I hit targets in place similar to what these guys were doing except I was 400 feet away and steered by hand gestures. By the way, we adapted to this machine and pulled some of the darnedest and biggest pipe you wouldn't believe. As my dad would say -'' poor folk got poor ways''.

    Well i guess I am going to be the hater were to start 1st starting with a down 30 percent for a 24/40 and being 2'7 second rod and 2'10 third rod you are over steering the rods firestick is max 10 percent long term effect is your asking for a pin brake and (there is no cribbing under drill to de-pitch the drill also causes roller ware with the pre steering and makes for bad jaw rub and brake out and make up issues this damages rods and bells the box and super heats the pin lost temper in the steel and snap you lose a drill string in the ground) second (no returns no returns no returns) failure to remove cuttings wares the shoulders of the rod leads to bad brake outs and damage to the vice stretching the figure 8 in the jaw Assembly and needing to replace jaws before they are needed dew to slop in the vice it is DRILLING NOT SCREWING if you did this to my drill i would fire you

      2'7 to 2'10 is a 3 percent pitch change? did you just google a bunch of stuff and copy and paste it to the comments? because you sound just like a manual. Good try tho

      @arkus pate is telling the truth. First of all there drilling in the softest ground there is which is probably there actual facility. Iv been drilling with a 36×50 and there 15feet long rods. Let me start from the beginning. 1st - entry pit for that size rig is way to close, 2nd wayyyy to much rod exposed, if your drilling in much harder soil you are 100% asking for trouble, 3rd the guy on the drill is pushing wayyyy to much percentage at 12 because his pitch is probably a 28% negative and he made it to the 1st exit pit in like 2rods which is oversteering, the bigger the rod the less percent you want to throw on it. The smaller and more flexible the rod you can throw more percentage. 4th problem the locator is asking way to much percentage but the operator has to do what he says knowing hes oversteering which means there both dumbasses. 5th problem is the guy has no drill fluid coming back to entry pit which is a big no no. 6th and final problem the guy on the drill is chewing his gum way to fast with weird facial expressions knowing damn well hes in the softest soil on earth but hes making it look like hes in rock, buddy turn up your water flow. Any REAL DRILLERS know this whole set up is bogus. They got it done (yes) but in all the wrong ways.

      @@tcampbellu 1st rod down 30% is 2'6"
      second rod should only be down 20% maximum { depth should be 4'2''}
      it was a 27 percent pitch change not 3
