    Grew up with a mom EXACTLY like Patricia. He could do no wrong, it always my fault. I begged her not to go back to him. When she brought him to our apartment that we’d secretly rented to get away from him, I moved out. Luckily I was about to be18. Packed my shit and left that same night while she was in the shower. I never looked back and I live in a different state now. I’m so sad Amina and Sara’s lives were plagued by torture brought on to them by people who were supposed to protect them. I’m so sad they were never able to be happy independent women with families and free will. I truly hope they’re free now and I hope he gets what’s coming to him soon

      I’m so sorry for you and all the other children that are victims of their Mom’s selfish and negligent decisions. Yet people will excuse these mom’s claiming THEY are victims too. These women like your mom are grown adults and can make the tough decisions that puts their children first, and they don’t. Children have no say and are truly innocent victims.

      Good for you, I feel sad that you had to leave like that. My mom had many, many men in and out of our house. She never protected me...I was abused by the men or the family if the men. I would go to my grandma's or aunt's house as a child to get safety and peace of mind. It's definitely not a great way to start out life. You are a strong woman.

    I've always kept up with this story with any news that come by because it hits at home. I went to the same school with those girls, I've seen them in the hallways all the time, I've seen there brother and had a small casual convo with a group of us just hangin out for a bit. Maybe you haven't heard of "grooming" but that terrible mother was very well trained to stick by her man no matter what. Abusers do that, whether they are men or women. I would say that the girls even THOUGHT to have American boyfriends was because that terrible mom was shielding them in the best way she knew how. Maybe she took comfort that the evil thing she married couldn't hurt her daughters ever again, so they are probably in a lot more peace, because they grew up in chaos. She gets her share of the blame, but who protected her from marrying that evil thing so young? And why in all the whole wide universe would you blame her for "all this" when so many evil (I am out of words to describe them) outnumbered her and bullied her at every turn? Yes, she did many things wrong, but not the blame rests with her.

      @Catherine Reed doesn't matter. As a mother, she is meant to protect them. Once you drag others in on your abuse, you're no longer the victim. I will fight for victims till my dying breath but not for those who not only *allow* their children to be abused and sexually abuse but actively (on multiple occasions) prevent them getting help for themselves. Nope. She's equally as guilty. By your logic, some paedophiles are such because they were groomed and abused. Does that mean we excuse those pedos that went on to abuse more children? Yeah no. They're guilty and deserved to be punished too.

    The Christine Jessop case is “that case” for me, not just because we were exactly the same age and I’m also from Ontario but because my brother was murdered and our two cases were being investigated at the same time by the same police dept (Christine’s case spanned 3 different regional police departments; it’s the Durham regional police I’m referring to).
    I had something like survivors guilt growing up and as a teenager glued, to this case that kept resurfacing in the news year after year with all the craziness around the wrongful conviction and Guy Paul’s subsequent release. Our family (thank the gods) had answers, justice and a semblance of resolution very quickly through excellent police work while the Jessop and the Morin families continued to suffer through tunnel vision and sheer incompetence of the same Dept. I just couldn’t understand how such different detectives could work in the same team.
    I am so relieved to see the truth finally come to light but also angry that he wasn’t investigated when good detective work very well may have placed him in the suspect pool early on - they knew it was a dark haired man, they had the right age range from the FBI profile and most critically, they were sure it was someone Christine knew - that she got into the car voluntarily. And I heard that the two families had visited each other just days before her abduction.
    We had the technology decades ago to identify him and see justice served - that’s how Guy Paul was released, through DNA testing. I understand you can’t DNA test everyone who ever knew Christine but surely they could’ve narrowed the POI pool down enough to make justice a viable outcome before he killed himself.
    The disgraceful police work on this one runs deep. Check out this fifth estate special for a good summary of the key issues:
    th-cam.com/video/qqEcCpQgtrg/w-d-xo.html
    I also asked John Lordan to cover this case and he created a Case Cracked about it the other day, for anyone who’s interested in going down this rabbit hole further.
    RIP Christine & peace and love to her family. 🕊

    • @persephonespomegranate
      @persephonespomegranate 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Alexandra Bazán thank you 🙏🏻
      I hope Christine’s family has some sense of closure now. That said, I don’t know if knowing makes it’s better or worse seeing as it was a friend who they had welcomed into their home previously and must’ve trusted. That’s got to cut deep. Plus the agony of not being able to have their day in court (with the right perp this time) and him having to face the people whose lives he destroyed.
      With my brother, it was a stranger who killed him for an almost random reason so in some ways, I think that’s easier (hard to acknowledge that there are psychopathic killers out there and that, sadly, it could happen to any family but easier to target my anguish at someone I didn’t have any love for to start with, if you see what I mean). Ugh, it’s just tough one all around, this case.

This has nothing to do with his religion or culture (I’m not disputing that honor killings happen- the father was something more common- a sociopath), but the father’s desire to control every aspect of his daughters’ lives. He murdered them for having boyfriends. It’s like a disturbing case of “If I can’t have you, no one can!” He’s like the abusive husband who kills his wife after she finds happiness elsewhere. As for the mother? I’m gonna say she was jealous of the daughters in some weird way, blamed them for her husband’s “attention” to them. Those girls were beautiful and smart. They were wise enough to seek help when being abused and to leave home when suspecting their dad wanted to kill them. The mother definitely was culpable.

Christine was upset because she wanted to show her father that she learned to play the recorder. The mother was also bullied into changing her story so that the timeline allowed for the neighbor to be a possible suspect.

I dont care how scared you are, you NEVER EVER put your daughters in danger, period. In the doc, she admitted she was dating Yasser's brother, and ended up with Yasser and only married him to get out of her house. I dont condone violence, but Patricia deserved what she got. Period.
    Update: -On January 21, 2021, Islam pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to conceal a person from arrest, one count of concealing a person from arrest, and one count of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding. He is awaiting sentencing and faces up to 30 years in prison.
    - Yaser was indicted on capital murder charges, making him eligible for the death penalty.
    -On January 19, 2021, Islam pleaded guilty to harboring a fugitive, conspiring to harbor a fugitive, and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice. His sentencing date is June 4th, 2021
    -According to his defense, Yassein Abdulfatah Said (the uncle) was unaware that Yaser had been a fugitive and did not know that he killed the girls. He claimed that he hated Yaser for what he did and that he would have never helped him if he knew what happened.

    Ken Jessop Sr was in jail and the cover story was that he was in California on a business trip. Queensville was a very small town and the family did not want that fact gossiped about. Calvin Hooper was a friend and so was his first wife; both of them had worked with Ken Sr at one time. Hooper also knew, through his wife, that Ken Sr was in jail. Christine was upset that day because she wanted to visit her father in jail but was too young. Mom and young Ken did go to the dentist, but it was not said that they too went to the jail for a visit afterwards but they could have. Since Hooper knew that , and that Christine would be home alone for a period of time, he abducted her. It was noted that a car had been parked outside the house. How to get her into the car? Why a trip to go see her father. Christine loved her bike and always took good care of it. To find it on it's side in the driveway was not normal. She also had a pet beagle that she would of taken outside after she got in the house. Her jacket that she wore that day was oddly hung up on a peg too high for her to reach. Perhaps an indication that this was done by Hooper. Since the case began in York Region and her body was found in Durham Region, police totally botched this case. Her remains were found and no security was really provided. They removed her remains hastily as a huge snow storm was coming in that night. Cops even smoked at the scene and left their cigarette butts on the crime scene! I've read the complete forensics report that was released years later. It is horrifying as to just how screwed up this case became and how evidence became contaminated. Pinning the Murder on Guy (pronounced Gee) Paul mostly was done because the police used a high profile detective and ran with the murderer's mock up profile he created. Although police said her body had been there the whole time , there is no way this was true due to the fact that in the report she had certain microscopic pond amoeba in her body. Hooper at one point submerged her body in water. There are a lot of marshy areas around Sunderland. I talked to the original Police Chief that handled the BTK Killer case. I laid out all the facts that I could and even he was confounded and shocked by this murder. Christine had her recorder with her that day...it has never been found. I lived for 23 years in Ontario and all during the search for Christine. Later I actually lived north of where her remains were found and I did have a job in the little town of Sunderland where they were found. I'd like to know just how Hooper knew about that remote and very rural property. I'm glad the identity of the killer was found. My heart has always hurt for her Mother and brother. The Jessop parents ended up divorcing.
