Over the last week we have gotten another foot of snow. Since I have no walls a lot of it manages to come sideways into my shop. The dogs are loving it, but I could do with a bit less trudging.
Do you mean like a ball peen on one side, and cross on the other? Most standard smithing hammers have a bit of rounding on the 'flat' side since it makes it a lot easier to keep from making deep hammer marks.
@@northernforgeblacksmith I was working on a knife and melted it so now what's left of it I'm going to try to turn it into something else not much left for a knife
I couldn't tell you how many times I've done exactly that. One thing to keep in mine with high carbon steel is that if the tip burned off the section just behind that is going to be damaged too, so you might have to cut off more than you think.

Sounds good. I do have a hammer on my list of future videos. Maybe I will have to break that out into a few videos for different types of hammers.

Well, I melted the end of my knife. Now my knife is shorter than what it was going to be but I reforged the tip
