  • Let's take a closer look at 5.11 Tactical Skyweight Utility Chest Pack, it's size, and features. I'll make some comparisons to my previous chest pack, the Hill People Gear Original Kit Bag. This is now a full review yet, but I hope this will give you a better understanding what kind of an item the Skyweight Utility Chest Pack is.

This is how 5.11 Tactical describes it:
"Be ready for anything and everything with the Skyweight Utility Chest Pack. Weighing less than a pound, this utility pack’s two-liter capacity keeps essential tools close at hand. Loaded with EDC organization, the main compartment is easy to access thanks to a gusseted opening. A zippered pocket and stretch woven pockets on the front hold high-priority items. The quick-release harness system is adjustable and versatile. When removed, the pack can be used as a standalone or as a waist pack. Hot pulls make access to the ambidextrous CCW compartment - sized for compact pistols - FAST. An internal loop panel provides a mounting platform while elastic bands are available to secure items. The breathable back panel keeps you comfortable and the padded pass-through is compatible with standard belts, hip belt from RUSH® 100 backpacks or the Skyweight Hip Belt (sold separately). Gear loops, 1x1 side loops and bottom webbing loops maximize carry options. Whatever you’re facing, you can depend on the Skyweight Utility Chest Pack."

I just want to say your reviews on the chest packs are really refreshing. With a focus on things OTHER than ccw, lol. Canadian here, we don’t need that!

I'm glad there's at least one person who doesn't want to hear about ccw capabilities 😁👍

I bought a Hill People Gear Heavy Recon Kit Bag last week which is in the mail right now. I have been using the Helikon Tex Numbat since 2019. I like it and held up nicely but if you want to carry your wallet and a big powerbank in your chest pack the Numbat comes to it's limits.
    Good video, as always!

Cheers buddy! I've heard many similar stories of Numbat being a gateway drug to HPG 😁

Loved your video ..... very informative. I just bought the same pack! I'm still playing around loading it up to see what will work best for me.

Thanks Donald. There's certainly a lot of ways you can setup this kit bag. Just make sure to resist the urge of overstuffing it with useless gear.

5.11-ness indeed. 😀 I saw this and am considering getting one. HPG is usually too expensive to ship to Canada to make it worth it. So if the price point is OK for the Skyweight, I might get one. Thanks for the tour. 👍

No problem! I noticed when editing this video that 5.11 USA is running a pretty decent Black Friday sale right now, this pack is only $48.

hope they will release a 2.0 with all 4 point quick release harness, and move the side attachment points to lower edge conner. It just flopping around with it gets heavy. Molle front panel would be nice on this model and it can be a great cameraman pack.

I bet they'll make version two at some point. As far as I've understood, this Skyweight series has been selling very well. Personally I like the molle-less look of this model compared to the other one.

@@TaivalOutdoors yet ppl wont be able to customize their own bag without molle carrry such as radio or camera. Skyweight Survival Chest Pack with molle is too small and lack of compartment for accessories storage

    Random question for you
How would you translate Perkele and Sisu from Finnish to English?
Trying to explain these words is not easy.

    • @TaivalOutdoors
      @TaivalOutdoors  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Haha, that's true Larry! Perkele is the trickier one, usually considered to be another word for devil (another one being "paholainen"), and I guess it is closest to something like "Dammit" except stronger than that. Sisu means grit/resolve/unyielding spirit. By the way, have you seen this movie? th-cam.com/video/d2k4QAItiSA/w-d-xo.html

Hello, I have both, I first bought the HPG full size, I was totally disappointed, bad finishes, untidy the interior part is really disappointing and costs $160, then I bought the 5.11 just like yours, it cost me a third of the HPG, It is very nice, very neat, well made, well thought out, with a lot of internal organization, the only thing I don't give it a 10 is the zippers, there I give it a 9, but the HPG seems a shame to me, and the 5.11 I find charm. It is. Made in America comes with a pretty hefty price tag these days.
