Thanks. Some of the screws were hard to remove. Dropped a small drop of wd-40 to loosen those suckers and the rest was a breeze. Thanks for the tutorial
The yellow part of my charger got stuck in my PSP 3001s charging port I have have to replace the whole charging port watching your video makes it look easy
I have a psp 3004 that does not charge from the power connector but from the usb instead yes... Then the power fuse cannot be blown, right? Otherwise it wouldn't even charge from USB rught?... Or does it have two distinct fuses one for power supply via charger and one for power supply via USB?
Hi :) I have a psp with a working charger and a working usb charger and a new battery, it still wont charge from either port, even when there was 30% power in the battery, any ideas? Bev x
Same.. i think the problem is, there's no contact, or the first charging enter is damaged, because on USB changing, It works, but my PSP is too much discharged to try again D-:
it cant be fixed though if you want to fix it youd probably have to remove the wires and put in new ones but the whole yellow part might also be burnt its basically impossible
Can't remember what happens in the video nor what exactly I meant with the comment but it is very fixable without replacing the port. I've fixed a great number of psp in the last couple years and while some needed replacement the majority did not and could be repaired with new wires(as you said) or a fuse(I think anyway I haven't done it in a while) none require replacement of the port pretty much
I replaced the 1000 charging part and prying it out just did not work. Ended up messing up the solder joints but some hot glue did the fix, and it works.
I'll keep this video in mind. As I had a battery inflate and almost explode in its compartment, my AC input port no longer functions due to possible damage. I probably won't do the repairs myself, but I know someone who can do them with the right parts.
can you help me? my psp battery is good because I tested it with multimeter. psp will charge ( orange light ) with battery in for 5 seconds but then turn off. no orange light without battery. will a bad charger port cause psp to not turn on with good charged battery? ( I purchased a wall charger so battery is charged) or am I looking at possibly fried mother board or psp power fuse?
If i connect the PSP with the AC adapter cable the it will not charge, no orange light and it won't detect the cable (i check in System and in AC it says not connected). If i connect the psp to my laptop with the USB and the other end the the charging port it charges fine and the PSP detect it, but the charging of devices with the usb it takes too long and is not practical to play or use the psp.
Psp model 2004, and cases: -when have battery + charging, light orange comes all the time; -when removing the battery + charging, light green come on 2s and disappear; -when not charging and turn on, light green come on 2s and disappear; My screen in these situations is black(won’t turn), I don’t hear any sound or vibrations.
Anyone have a thought on my sons PSP 2001 model? Here's whats going on: The last time he used it was about 2 years ago. It worked fine. Put the PSP into its soft storage case and put it on the shelf, been there ever since. He decided to play it today and it won't do anything. No green light, no orange light, no display, no sound. It does nothing while plugged in, with or without battery installed. Complete paperweight. I used my multimeter and cord adapter reads 5.2/5.3 volts. Took unit apart and tested the charging port, 5.2 volts at the board where it plugs in. Definitely not the power cord or charging port....power is good. Tried a different cord, still nothing. I checked all the ribbon cables, everything was seated and connected. It also doesn't charge/light up from the USB. Any ideas what to check next? Thanks!
+mitsos635 I still haven't resolved the issue. I just gave up on it and put it away. Luckily, my son doesn't really play it. It's kind of weird, he'd rather play his Nintendo DS. Don't quite know why...the PSP is a far superior system. But to each his own. I will say, the DS is built like a brick shithouse...it just works. No problem whatsoever.
I'm not quite sure what kind of PSP I have but when I plug it in there is no Orange Power like saying that its charging I can turn on for a few seconds then it says its dying I have no idea what's going on with it can someone help me
So my problem is that the part where the charging port plugs in to the board broke off, so could i just strip the two wires and solder them to the board or not?
My psp just shuts off randomly my power port jack socket has a crack in it. It charges and all. But my psp doesn’t drain its battery life it just shuts off.
James154 you ever figure it out? Just replaced my charge port and still wont charge. Psp turns on just have to charge the battery with another one and then swap out but id prefer to be able to charge it normally
Jasandip Rana I hv the same prob.... I lent my game to a cuz... wen he returned it, game won't turn on... I realized that the game had been tampered/opened because a screw dropped through the umd slot... need hlp also.....
Hey guys, i really need some help. My psp is a psp -3001 which i think is a 3000. Anyways i have to charge it in the car and it says the battery is charged, but when i remove the charger it turns oof and won't turn back on. Then i try charging it at my house and no light turns on its not a psp charger. Is my battery fried or do i need to buy an original psp charger so it will charge? When i am in the car i can play games and use it but when i get off it does not turn on. Please help.
I have a psp go and it turns on but it doesnt read the charger/usb import. I've watched a few videos and it fixed a few solutions, but I think it may have gotten water damaged or something. If anyone has any ideas on how i can fix the charger/ usb import please let me know
Thanks. Some of the screws were hard to remove. Dropped a small drop of wd-40 to loosen those suckers and the rest was a breeze. Thanks for the tutorial

mine is power switch its not working even though i plug it in my charger, i also replaced a new charging port, and still.. not working.. please help..
Swapped charging port but it still doesnt charge, its not the charger because it works on another psp. Any suggestions on what it can be?
the charging port is it the same thing for 3k? no size difference or anything different?
I replaced the 1000 charging part and prying it out just did not work. Ended up messing up the solder joints but some hot glue did the fix, and it works.

This is a "how to replace" - not a "how to fix" - fixing is the result of replacement. I would have not watch the video if it were correctly labeled.

Plug doesnt fully go in the charging port.
