I really really want a slide truck so when you come back to the usa bring me one to Bristol Tennessee and we'll play with my bagged minitruck bagged minivan and do some hopping in my pathfinder with 4 pump hydraulics and then break out the 64 impala and cruise... but definitely need some a slide truck

Thailand has always got an interesting car/truck/bike scene. First time I went there back in 1993 it was impressive how they modified things with most people on a budget. A lot of smart stuff. One of my friend was driving a Peugeot 505 with a crazy mitsubishi turbo swap engine. I drove an old Isuzu pickup. Lost the whole exhaust line out of the manifold and a small shop on the road side mandrel bent tube and rolled sheets to make a new line. I believe many of the US cars were owned by American officers posted in Thailand as Thailand used to be an outpost during the Vietnam and cold war. It is so nice to see so many of them. I should be flying to Bangkok this Sunday if all the paperwork works all right. Looking forward to be there again!

Yes, most of these cars were brought into Thailand by American GI's stationed here during the Vietnam war.
Suspension is called "cantilever", when there is an arm redirecting up down motion to linear in/out.
My plate I paid 8 bucks for 1971, I just had to wait for the number to come up in the series they where issuing ( letters are random)

This is the Thai version of the shop I made my career at. It followed the same progression. Got started building street rods, today all resto's and restomods. Mostly musclecar stuff.

Amazing garage. I'm a aircooled vw fan. I know there is an interresting vw scene in Thailand. Could you maybe once find some cool v dubs in thailand? For me most interresting vw's are pre-67 buses and beetles. I own a 64 beetle. Thanks for sharing all those amazing cars with us .

Having been to a lot of Auto body shops around the world 🌎 just like you do. I am quite impressed in the workmanship they do in Thailand 🇹🇭 If I still had my Auto body shop in Australia I would have Thails working for me 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
In terms of quality, craftsmanship, price and equipment I think some of the bigger Thailand's auto paintshops are ones of the best. We have quite a number of big auto paintshops like this one. Most of these workshops possess frame straightening machines, paint mixing room, baking ovens, etc. and their work thruputs per month are huge.
SwingEzzZZ Yes I've spent a full day in a very very big Honda Panel shop in Thailand 🇹🇭And let me tell you the workmanship is right up there with the best 👍👍 And I've been in the trade for 50 years. I'm 63 now.
@@tonydownunder5703 I guess that one is in Udomsuk area on Sukhumvit. We have 4 frame straightening benches and 8 Baking ovens and around 100+ work bays. That's National Service Headquarter. My old place and I'm 65 now. Toyota did follow the same strategy they now have similar facility. Most brands now have similar workshops in Bangkok. Bigger upcountry province also have big body and paint shops depending on the market demand. Apart from the Big Brand's workshop, there are also a lot of similar big body and paint shops of independent owners around the country as well. I have seen in the U.S., Germany, England, Japan, Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia so I can tell. It's because it's cheaper to repair than those countries due to low labour cost so there are demand. That keeps the business running and preserve the skilled craftsmen.

@@tonydownunder5703 Oh yes, like I mentioned province like Phuket must have one. By the way the one in Udomsuk now owned by the dealer. During my time Honda needed to setup an example when the project ran successfully they let the dealers do it and they turn the focus on wholesales, policy and support. I never been to Australia. Just flied over to NZ to visit Beacham Jaguar. I know Australia and NZ have a lot of classic car restoration experts.

Awesome shop! Check out the Australian made XP Falcon in the back ground. Spotto a P510, KE70 Corolla , Datsun 1200 coupe and looks to be a Holden front fender. That RX7 is an SA22C S2/3 model. So far in your video's i've spotto a couple Australian cars. The other was a HQ Holden Premier . We also have a version of those slide trucks here in Aussie. We call them "Tilt Trays" and are usually Hino , Isuzu or similar Japanese trucks. I would really like to see more ol skool JDM content in your videos. Keep up the good work. You have inspired me to travel to Thailand through watching these.

Slide truck is a great idea. At first I was we do have those trucks, it's a rollback..🤣🤣 but then I continue to watch and was like ohhh I see now.. Now I wanna build one and sell to all tow truck companies. Save alot on front bumper complaints..

Nice one! I'm amazed at the passion in the Thailand car scene and you cover it well. Slide trucks are great. We have rollback tow trucks in the states. I guess it wouldn't take too much to modify one to be a full slide truck. Rollbacks are halfway there already.
Traveling around Thailand you can come upon all sorts of unusual vehicles. There are a few places with old US military trucks and jeeps. One place I see is full of old expensive Mercedes. With highly skilled but great labor rate value techs available it isn't surprising to see restoration shops taking on huge amounts of work on a car, that would be uneconomical in the US or UK.
I look forward to your episodes, just awesome stuff especially as of late.

The interior suspension is called "Cantilever" meaning it uses a series of joints to change the direction in confined spaces.

This is an awesome video, Chad! As a fan of muscle cars, this is a candy shop. Please make more videos of such shops. I think you should export those slider bed transporter to the US as a sideline. I always see them around carrying cool cars but never seen car uploaded onto it.

Dude! Those Corvettes were awesome! Not to mention all the awesome Mustangs! This kinda reminded me of the Sarasota Classic Car Museum that I went to down in Florida back in April. They had a great mix of classic American muscle and an exhibit of classic Porsche and Ferraris as well as some Iso Rivoltas.

I dated my wife in a 1965 GT 350 Shelby Mustang. That was 1968-t969. While I was in the Army Ford released the 1969 Boss 302 Mustang. I had to have one. I got out of the Army in April 1969. There was one dealer in Arizona: (Bill Watkins Ford in Scottsdale. They didn't have any yet (April 1969). We put a deposit on the Mustang and got first pick when they first 6 came in. My wife drove in to teach school for 2+ years. By then the engine was starting to go. It got traded for a BMW 2002.
We always missed the Boss and working with a sympathetic Motor Vehicle employee the car was located. It was 18 miles from where we lived. It was rolling junk, but it was THE car. I spent a year collecting correct parts. The engine in the car was a 351 Windsor. I located a 1970 Boss 302 engine. The car had been painted from Yellow to white, back to yellow and the final insult was a rattle can paint job in red.
With the car 90 % restored It was the center piece of our 20th anniversary party. I applied for an Illinois personalized plant and the Boss 302 had the Illinois license plate..... HER BOSS
We drive is sporadically. We now live in Santa Fe, NM and I applied for the same personalized plate. The MVD turned it down. Some pin head had the brilliant idea that it was a derogatory remark. I don't take no for an answer and working with a very nice lady at the New Mexico MVD the issue was resolved. Several times a year Sant Fe Vintage Car Club dose a car show on the Plaza in Santa Fe. We always have ithe Boss 302 on display. People love the Mustang and the story behind the HER BOSS

That slide truck or flat bed tow truck, is actually a very common vehicle in Asia/SEA 😅

You're killing me walking right past that '75 Cadillac. It's the same color as mine back in the states. I couldn't believe it when I saw one looking that clean in Bangkok. Interestingly, that looks like they took a 1974 grille at put it on a 75/76. I'd love to know the story on it.
You are completely right. Out of all the cars I was shocked to see that big blue Cadillac sitting there, I think it’s a Sedan, i’ve always wanted a coop. Imagine all of the Thai girls you could fit in that Caddy!

Something that you may not have seen in Thailand yet is the meeting of the American car group in Thailand. But each car in this group has both beauty and rarity, such as the 1970 Pontiac GTO The judge Convertible with only 108 cars in the world. The story of this car is The uncle sold this car to his grandson (current owner of GTO) for only 1 baht 🤣🤣🤣

Back in 2012 just walking around a random street near Nana I saw what had to be a 80s Brabus Mercedes with 4 flat tires. I went back a few days later thinking maybe if I could find the owner I could pick it cheap but it was already gone.

Stanley, more like a '58-59 T-Bird. First T-Bird with 4 seats...totally changed the T-Bird concept that year.....Ford wanted to make it a "Family" car...Bummer!
