It is insane just how much value this video gives to anyone at any stage of their cycling journey. Thanks for creating / sharing Francis and James. Unbelievable!
Totally agree, been riding about 7 years and this made so much sense. It is also funny how you tend to gravitate towards better fitment as you progress because it just feels right as well.
Thank you, James/Francis, for making me feel better about buying an endurance bike as my first road bike last year. I've absolutely ridden the nuts out of it; love the comfort, love the tire clearance, love not being folded into a pretzel every time I want to have a spin around the neighborhood. Also, it should be noted that these are still light and fast bikes, my endurance bike weighs around 17lbs/8kg and I've still managed to get a lot faster and snag KOMs on it and whatnot. I'll happily trade that 5% in performance for a 50% increase in comfort.
James is a mathematician, a physiotherapist and a cyclist built into one. This is the info I've been looking for, delivered so concisely and easy to understand. Top advice and priceless info. This guy knows his shit!
Bike Fit James! The only man who sounds like he’s speaking at a normal cadence when you set playback to 0.75 (sounds a little drunk though!) 🤣 Love your stuff, James and Francis. 😍
I think you're onto something. Maybe he just the local wino, who blagged his way into cycle fits. They probably pay him by the bottle of Cider or Thunderbirds.🤔
I purchased the G8's for my new Sidi's, pushed my cleats back, installed wider spindles in my peddles, lowered my saddle, all your recommendation's from bike fit Tuesday's, road 25 miles of gravel with no pain, first time since I built this bike 8 months ago! Can't thank you enough for your knowledge and expertise in your no "BS" video's, drastically improved my cycling life, sincerely
Changing reach through handlebar rotation was a game changer for me! I got a new bike without getting a proper fitting and I was feeling like maybe I went 10mm too long with the stem. Instead I just rotated my handlebars up by about 4 degrees and BOOM: no more hand numbness, no more moving hands back on the bar, no more butt creeping forward in my saddle. Just instantly put me in a good bike position that I can ride in all day with no pains or niggles. Can't thank you and James enough for sharing this valuable information for free
Francis: James, I live up north now and be here every week, so can you cram every piece of general bike fit advice you have into one 15 min video. James: just hit record.
As always, useful and entertaining at the same time, wow! You have gotten this mid-years rider up and riding without pain for 9 months now. Doing really well fitness wise, added years to my life - love it. Thank you
I’m coming to the U.K. next month for 3 weeks and I’m definitely going to try and snag a bike fitting with this bloke. He’s blunt and honest unlike most bike fitters near me. It’s a business for these guys down here in the states.
Cade & BFJ sessions are fantastic. From a previous edition I took on board the cleat location advice, 100 miles no more knee pain or tendonitis being the major knock on benefits 😀 Thank you
There is a lot of great knowledge in this video. And James is absolutely right about a great pair of shoes. I started riding much faster and farther once I had a really great pair of shoes. Also, I love my endurance bike. Totally spot on there.
Oh my goodness... this is a real eye opener.... I'm 68 years old and have been riding the same cycle since 1968... that's a lot of years of pain.. let me tell you... and I'm 600 miles away...
It used to be like talking to a Brick Wall, until I found your videos. I now share them with my cycling club newbies, or even oldies, to help better accustom them to getting ‘the best fit.’ I instantly know what’s their pain, but often point to videos, then recommend a bike fit that exactly exemplifies what I suggested was needed! One of the common: saddle neutrality, cleats all the way back and stem reach.
Amazing video thanks Guys. Brilliant information James thankyou. Im a novice cyclist and only found this channel yesterday. I had learned more in the last 15 minutes. Then i have watching 2 mths of gcn Much appreciated Keep up the good work
After watching like all of these fit videos. I went for my first bike fit last week. Oh man. I’ve been riding a saddle too high, and bars too wide, for like 6000 miles. Wish I started binge watching these videos earlier.
it's crazy... i already know all this stuff... (previous videos and experience) but is so much quality and goods advices, that i'm watching all the video! chears!
Francis and James' videos have always been my top recommendations to anyone for bike setup. So much information and substances in them. Highly recommended!! And GREAT job guys!!
Thanks for this. Yes, some simple understanding by buyers... and a better education by people selling bikes, would help so much. This info is so straight forward and easy to understand!
Amazing piece of knowledge. This channel honestly convinced me to go and reassess my bike size (RC500 from Decathlon, starting off with riding) to one smaller. Slowly trying to dial in all the little fit issues but surely moving the cleats all the way back was also another incredible advice as well as sticking to yellow shimano cleats. Thank you!
This is an amazing video, these tips are absolute top! Been riding drop-bar bikes since I was 7, now I'm 36. As a kid I had problem with lower back pains, especially at high intensity, as I got long legs and a short upper body, so bike fit was always an issue. Today I got 2 endurance bikes with 50 mm stems, yet this video gave me lots of tips on how dial in my setup even further.
Great new info for me here. And affordable ! I’ve come to realize too many videos I watch are only trying to sell me things , rather than increase my enjoyment of cycling. I’d best go look again at my shoes. Cheers!
Ditto the Look 765, I rode a 675 for ages and loved it... As a aside, we raced what would be considered now endurance bikes back in the 80's , 72 seat angle, 73.5 head, long top tubes, long chain stays, BB slow low you couldn't pedal through corners, 101-102 cm wheelbases, you could ride those for days in comfort and still go fast...
I love watching ‘Bike Fit Tuesdays’-on whatever day it comes out-Thursday in this case……🤣 James is so passionate, and knowledgeable, about his subject. I may have to drag myself down to the shop from Cambridgeshire one day. I have a Specialized Roubaix Expert-endurance bike so at least I got that bit right. I also have a Ti gravel bike the setup of which is as close as I can get it to my Roubaix-is this correct or would you set a gravel bike up differently? I won’t mention the hardtail mtb as that is obviously different-or is it??
I am a small handed rider! I love my Campy Ergo Shifters. That said, my gravel bike has Shimano on it and something about those brifters, even with the adjustment for the brakes, they are just altogether too big. You can actually purchase smaller brifters. I have a set of 105 hydraulic levers and they are awesome.
I love this channel and you guys. Could we try a video for knuckle dragging chimps though. Surely, it doesn’t need to be this complicated for us old and tired ones… I just want to get on my bike knock out a cracking ride, without being beaten up! New series idea? Keep it simple stupid.
Great tips so far (I am 5 min in, not a new cyclist, but new to road bikes), I wish the delivery was a little slower, it's so dense it makes me a little anxious :D. thank you :)
Plus points for seats with cutouts in them * more airflow to keep the area cooler than you would without a cutout. * I find they're slightly more flexible, therefore more comfy on rough roads. as the flex acts similar to bigger tyres at lower pressure
I have just moved to my first proper cutout saddle (a pro turnix, having been very happy with my fabric line for some years) and i'm looking forward to testing this this summer. first proper ride was fucking grand.
@@Pratalax exactly, makes such a difference, I had a fabric seat too and even though it had a gap in the foam running through it the base was still solid, then when I got a new bike it came with a cutout in the seat and soo different 👌
I think James needs a bit more caffeine. But seriously, great video. I wish I had access to a local bike shop with someone as knowledgeable as James. Your customers are very fortunate.
It is insane just how much value this video gives to anyone at any stage of their cycling journey. Thanks for creating / sharing Francis and James. Unbelievable!

@@damienwalker1026 it’s funny you should comment today. I just finished my bike fit with James. Totally different bike now.

James’s downright blunt approach to advice-giving is so refreshing and just a little bit mesmerising at the same time 👏

james had 5 coffees and a monster energy before filming. Talking like its a race.
And the rest 🤣
HAHAHHA came to the comments to write the same thing
And this sir, is what passion looks like
I watch him on 0.75x because I don’t understand 😂
or because the next bike fit is coming in xD
James don't ever change. I love how you present information. It's a hilarious almost rant. You remind me of my favorite teachers from school.
Bike Fit James! The only man who sounds like he’s speaking at a normal cadence when you set playback to 0.75 (sounds a little drunk though!) 🤣 Love your stuff, James and Francis. 😍

I think it's the accent that sounds like that not the speed reduction
Move the brake lever! MIND BLOWN as never thought I could.

Every time James says “bloke in his (insert age here) sat at his desk” on bike fit Tuesday I think “that’s me!!!”

Two BFT episodes in a row, the week is getting better and better!
I was an idiot living in 1990 until James showed how to adjust brake levers! Mind. Blown. So much more comfortable!
‘Doing a plank and riding a bicycle at the same time’ 😂😂😂 Got to love the phrase’s that James comes out with 👌
There is a lot of great knowledge in this video. And James is absolutely right about a great pair of shoes. I started riding much faster and farther once I had a really great pair of shoes.

James has such a gift of gab and communication. Incredible teacher, orator!

Two James video's in one week! WOO HOO!!!
Fantastic video Francis and James, thanks! There's so much that I'd previously overlooked.
The tip sheet here is actually great for everyone. These are quite useful and not a little impressive. Superbly done!

Thanks guys. Always look forward to Bike Fit Tuesday videos. Even though this is a year old it’s super helpful.
Again, so glad to see more BikeFit Tuesday videos!!!
The expresso machine is the key to understanding James.
12:45 The spot-on info is why we are here🙌 .... this nonsense is why we love how you do it and keep coming back! 👍😂😂❤
This James guy is an absolute legend!! A great addition to your channel buddy

This is a great general reference on bikefit. I am going to share it to many friends.
I'd like to see a run down on gravel specific seats and how they differ from road saddles. Also, a better breakdown on sizing as well.
Love Bike Fit James. America needs you.

No nonsense James at full speed, not surprised as he's got a lot of fits to do.👌
Thanks!
Been missing the bikefit videos. Have helped me out loads .. we also need another adventure series for yous guys..

Thank you, love the video as a new rider. My toes were going numb on rides. Since I moved my clips all the way back... problem gone.
Can we talk more about point 10? what makes a good shoe and how that actually transfers power more efficiently? That would be great!
A bit late so I am not sure if you found it already but... th-cam.com/video/2BaRUajjMeg/w-d-xo.html

I love you guys, I am well balanced in my mtb and the cleat position, saddle. holy really a huge difference ❤
Wish I was even in the same country for a bike fit. I definitely need one
Thanks I have really missed Bike Fit Tuesdays, since you moved up north!
i’m 71kg, 40+ yo and i love my new race bike.
this video sums up two years of bike fit tuesday.
Proper stuff. Thanks James and Francis.
Good to see James again.
So good to see James back!
Yes The Bike Doctor! Good to see you back. 😁😁😁👊🏼
As a relatively new road cyclist, brilliant video! Even if it was painful to see inside those drawers!
Interesting. I’ve jammed my seat as far forward as possible... will look into that, as well as getting a saddle with a hole in the middle!
Hi there! Great to see you guys filming together again! Always excelent tips! Some tips for saddle sores would be great!!!

Another awesome Bike Fit video Francis, you’ve taken them to the next level with the last couple 👍
Thanks guys, I'm off to the garage to try some of these tips! (It's a bit far to come from Australia...)
Cheers,

This channel is the best I've seen
Shoes over bling wheels. Excellent advice👍
Just brilliant. So much knowledge! Thanks mate!
James talks fast, but he knows his business. 👍🏻 A lot of information again, thanks.
Good to see videos are back.... Did I see a restock of Lake shoes? Looking forward to my bike fit with James in August.
Good to see James
This is a must watch for any cyclist !
Love this guy. I’d almost fly over and get a bike fit just to meet this dude and soak up some knowledge.
Do it
Absolutely love these videos

If I see James, I want to take my bike to the shop from Belgium to do a bikefit 😂
I bought a TCR Disc, and its the best bike I've owned
Man, I wish James was in Australia. He's a straight shooter, no doubt.

Excellent and so informative for this newb! Liked and subbed- Thank you 😊!
That Death star trench run killed me😂😂
James...the destroyer of dreams.
😂
I think James needs a bit more caffeine.
But seriously, great video. I wish I had access to a local bike shop with someone as knowledgeable as James. Your customers are very fortunate.
Impressed. Subscribed.
Good advice, well presented.
#BFT on a thursday, works for me... any day really, as long as James gets to share his knowledge
How many coffee’s or adderall’s does James have before each video??
All of them!
LOL, thanks for the laugh
