This one kinda reminds me of Midwest Style in the first part with a bit of a Psych Folk Breakdown a bit onward and then kinda goes back into The Midwest Vibe, love it.
"Why Not" - Gentle Giant Don't sing a tune to yourself You might believe this one Try not to sew it yourself The threading won't stretch none Don't give me none of that line Why not? Got to sing something Love's song there's nothing to find Why not? Dead before playing Don't sing a tune to yourself You might believe this one Try not to sew it yourself The threading won't stretch none Who says the things that go in The song is only saying Dead thought can kill a good thing The band is only playing Don't give me none of that line Why not? Got to sing something Love's song there's nothing to find Why not? Dead before playing Why not climb a hill With someone who hates you Why not hate someone Who climbs a hill with you And as time passes by Your feet start slipping And you are wondering why There is no forgetting Don't sing a tune to yourself, You might believe this one Try not to sew it yourself The threading don't stretch none Who says the things that go in The song is only saying Dead thought can kill a good thing The band is only playing Don't give me none of that line Why not? Got to sing something Love's song there's nothing to find Why not? Dead before playing Dead before playing
Correct me if i'm wrong. This composition starts a bit like what metal bands play, then it transitions into something blues-like, and ends as a typical rock'n'roll, right?
The beginning kind of sounds like something sabbath or other hard rock-proto-metal acts would put out at this time. Sounds like mountain a lot as well.
Muchas gracias por toda la música que hicieron y por haberla compartido con el mundo progre! GENTLE GIANT ❤ thanks for everything, greetings from Peru 🇵🇪
despite the fact that I think prog music kinda sucks and is extremely dorky, I still push myself to listen to some prog bands from time to time, mostly because I like 70s music, especially rock. today I listened to this album front to back and while I find the flute medieval thingy passages annoying as shit and unnecessary I gotta admit there are some pretty great moments on this album, especially this guitar solo.
Try to be open minded to the uncommon instrumentation with prog music, especially since many of the best moments in that genre are the parts where the guitars are totally quiet. This is coming from someone who's been an extreme metal fan for years
Credit where credit is due to recognize the talent and value even if it doesn't sound as pleasing to your ears. Certain bands I listen to for musical ideas even if I don't like the sound as much.
Here’s to Gentle Giant, the only simultaneous cure for every ailment that humanity will ever know

A proof that music started evolving from 1969

Tony Visconti told he really was impressed with the great musicality of Gentle Giant and had very fond memories producing them.

It more ends in a twelve bar blues jam, but you’re pretty close!
And in the middle there's a renaissance ballad... virtuoso
Prog rock baby
The beginning kind of sounds like something sabbath or other hard rock-proto-metal acts would put out at this time. Sounds like mountain a lot as well.
Great sound quality

the flute medieval parts are my favourite
Ricordiamoci a chi facevano l'apertura, a un certo Jan Anderson... Se ascoltate "Thick as a brick"...
Rennaisance music averse, I see. Too bad for you.
