Don't forget, on OP, you can also pinch in when 3 apps are open, to see them all together, rather than having to tap to see the 3rd. Looks better on a tablet though. It doesn't take up all of the real estate on the Open.

You my guy, in my opinion, are one of the most dedicated TH-camr. You're one of the reasons I'm waiting for the Oneplus Open 2, and decide between that or its predecessor. Man you are GOATED

I still say it comes down to this. If you're going to do the folding form factor it needs to have all the features for multitasking and power use. It's not about the majority not using all the features that a Samsung Fold has..... Its the fact that these phones are $1800 and should include everything and then I'll decide what I will and will not use. If I want to use the pop-up window once a month it should be there for me at this price.

I almost never used multitasking on my Z Fold 5. When I got the OnePlus Open, I started to multitask on a regular basis with Open Canvas. I find myself not needing to see both apps at once, but just have a quick way of tapping into the second app when I need it.

Speaking of the OnePlus Open, have you tried taking a picture of the moon after the Android 15 update? It doesn't focus and adjust exposure automatically anymore

I hope this come true. My ideal would be that if you hold the split screen handle a menu similar to what is on Win11 would pop up and let you choose how you want them split (3 vertical, 1 vertical and 2 squares, etc.) as well as ability to drag to resize with a better range (as far as I can see, 50/50 and 60/40 is the most you can do right now)

If this happens and Samsung incorporates it, into their UI. Then Samsung will by far have the best OS for folding phones.

I love the three windows with the pop up windows on Samsung. I resized youtube to take up half the screen in portrait mode, added a browser and Google messages to the bottom half, then shrunk the messages app to the smallest size. This allows me to watch content, surf the web, read texts, and keep watch of my bus route via the pop-up window all on one screen.

A video up top definitely shifts things around a bit so the two tiny squares thing isn't as true. Good stuff!

Interestingly I can do the Samsung style 3 window on my Velvet/V60 with DS case attached but I never do 3 window for same reason as you mentioned.

honestly, i LOVE my oneplus open, but i'm so scared of breaking it or having some issue with it, being in France and hearing how BAD the support from oneplus is... people sending there phones for reparation and still not getting them back after 3 months etc... IF samsung does this, i'll get the galaxy fold 7, it's safer

Im perfectly fine with just two apps on split screen. There is so many things one plus and Google could do to catch up with Samsungs software. Like making the cover display customizable separately from inner screen.

Octopi Launcher gives this feature. Still in beta (possibly alpha) but very stable as a daily driver for me on the original Pixel Fold.

@callinItLikeIseeIt Your right, been using octipi launcher on my 9 pro fold, but it's a little glitchy. It clearly has room for improvement. It's getting there though 😀

It's been like Christmas with all of these new multitasking feature leaks man. I do think you're right about what devices will get what though. Slabs will get the 90/10 split feature he showed off, with the bubble any app. Foldables will get both of those but can run three apps instead of only two. And the tablet will get EVERYTHING including the desktop mode folds didn't get

I am not impressed by Samsung's split-screen options. They seem unthought-out and too like Windows rather than rethinking for 8-inch folding devices. OnePlus has put some effort in, and the implementation is sensible and more usable. It would be nice for this to be Android-wide, as it is the best solution. Small squares for three apps are awful and no idea what Samsung was thinking--I can understand why Google did not implement that.

    • @Ronnet

Even on Windows it's not really useful to have 4 tiny windows. On windows I usually splitscreen two apps with "tools" like the calculator as a floating window. Which is also how I do it on my OnePlus Open, where the calculator is in my side bar which opens apps as floating windows.

    • @hometownherotv
      @hometownherotv 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

Can't say the OnePlus is more usable. The scaling is absolute garbage on a lot of applications. I use Samsung internet and it doesn't rescale correctly and neither does X. It's a great idea but the implementation lacks in many areas. It's also strange that certain video apps won't adapt top/bottom splitting orientation. None of this is an issue with Samsung because they literally force the apps to do what you want and it's just a better experience overall.
