      Hi!! Thank you so much for watching! I actually just uploaded the third movement of Rachmaninoff today (be sure to go watch it)!! My best piece of advice would be start slow and make sure your fingering, rhythm and all tiny details are in place before you start to increase the tempo! Patience is key 👍

    "So you are telling me there's a chance." I am encouraged to see that your very early pass throughs of some of the music sound like mine. You just learn and smooth it out very fast. I get discouraged when I go through a section so slowly that it doesn't sound like anything familiar at all. I just need to keep at it. This was a helpful video.

      Howdy, I'd like to know your opinion as I'm self taught and haven't really bothered searching proper learning techniques / routines . I got the first 2 pages and a half down at full speed ( still some mistakes at full speed but pretty good at 80%~ ) but I haven't memorized any other pages. From your experience ( I know it probly depends who you ask ) but would you say it's better to memorize the whole piece first then work at improving it or is going page by page ( memorize a small segment then master it then start a new segment ) like I'm doing just as good a method ? Also if you have any tips for learning pieces faster I'd really appreciate :)

    • @WithMariya
      @WithMariya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@maximecloutier1223 Great question! I found that writing down fingerings and practicing hands separately WHILE counting out loud before putting the hands together has helped a lot of my students to learn pieces faster. In my own practice, I definitely still learn hands separately in tricky parts, and work slowly through the piece BEFORE starting to memorize. In most cases, the more you work on a piece the more it will become memorized on its own! Hope this helps :)

    • @maximecloutier1223
      @maximecloutier1223 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WithMariya It makes a lot of sense ! I find myself working through a piece often without taking time to memorize ( just sight reading and fooling around with fingerings ) but I tend to try and avoid doing that thinking I'm wasting time. I'll give it a proper shot this time and see if I like learning like that. It'll make things more interesting too since you're not working on the same exact part for hours on end. Thanks !
      P.S. Do you offer classes ( online ) ? I figured I might as well ask even if the odds are slim :p

    What should I do if I cannot reach the chords for both hands

    • @WithMariya
      @WithMariya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey! No worries! Just break the chord (play the bass note in the LH before you play the rest of the chord) :) hope this helps!
