Regarding the Kombucha alcohol panic: It wasn't a bubbly bottle on a Whole Foods shelf. Not a joke, it was Lindsay Lohan when she made headlines by having alcohol show up on a surprise breathalyzer from her probation officer. She actually blamed a specific brand that also happened to be my favorite. When it came back to shelves, you could definitely tell the difference in Kombucha being less delicious if you have had both versions. Thanks TMZ : (
The thorn on Agave leaves were traditionally used by Native people as suture needles. The toxin acted as local anaesthetic apparently!
The Junior's owner says that everything except labor has gone up. Which means that he recognizes that everything is more expensive for them to buy, while choosing to ignore that his workers face the same issue.
Business Insider has some of the most reliable, informative and interesting documentaries!
Agreed 😂❤😅
What an incredible collection! It's so big that the average person will probably never see it. I could spend weeks looking at it and never tire of it. There are so many details and stories to discover. It's a real gem.

Business Insider has each separate video on their channel. Alot of TH-camrs are combining related videos making longer versions. Since many follow the 15 minute recipe I think this is a great idea.
The smithonian handling weed at 8:15 made me laugh
It’s a plant. You gotta document what it looks like, smells like… if it has “side effects” 👀👀👀.. dry it for preservation reasons only…. You know so future generations can know what cheech and Chong smoked in the 70’s …… I mean how the plant has evolved of years.
No it didn't

One of my main bucket list items is to take a road trip to DC and spend a month just going to the museums and trying the local food.
The food sucks and so do the museums
@@GentlemanNietzsche So edgy
The segment on the Smithsonian was fascinating. Museums have always been favorite places for me to visit, but we do tend to forget about the research and cataloguing of our world as we know it. That's extremely important work, and it's unfortunate that they are having trouble getting funding for improvements to prevent losses. There are things in museums that cannot be replaced.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I feel so bad for the poor countries that work through the worst conditions for rich countries to stay rich.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I wonder if there's a way.
I like how Insider Business lifts people up than put people down. Very smart Insider Business
This is a wonderfully instructive program. I belong to Toastmasters and will give a speech tonight based on the Smithsonians’s story on their collection of birds hitting airplanes. Fascinating! I hope this will allow researchers to create bird proof engines and save lives. 🥰
21:31 it doesn’t make it any less bad for these folks that the industry squeezes legit people like this, but damn does she have a good take in how she put that.
Yeah, she did not stutter. Her product was Real Minero. Good to know.
@@YouAdii to 2ew2à
Yeah you have to lay down the law.
Personally I don't give a rats ass about where it came from. I hate the fact people try to guilt others to buy a food product from where it originated for some moral reason.
I'll buy Mezcal or Tequila made by half Japanese Innuit with a quarter of New Zealander and is Jewish where it they built a place in South Africa to grow Agave. As long as it is good I'll buy that thanks... If I must pay it will be an American brand and that's to support the buisness location near me - but I won't drink it if that taste like arse either for patriotic reasons. I just want a solid product and nation or creed be damned.

Wow. That’s an enormous collection the regular public will never get to experience. I could look around there for weeks and never get bored!

I loved learning about Junior’s because their Flatbush Avenue restaurant is part of my birth story. The last meal my mom had was there before she went into labor and gave birth to me at nearby Brooklyn Hospital.
40 seconds in and they're dropping things. This is gonna be good.
Woke up to this at 1AM
The problem with cocoa is it is not just the labor of the farmers but the processing and transit costs as well as the final store that sells it with their own overhead costs.
They had better get every damned penny that they need. If we have the capital to meddle in geopolitical controversy, we have the capital to preserve, acknowledge, and study history.

The Egyptian Limestone part of this video is absolutely haunting. I cannot believe that world exists. It's like those men exist in a beautiful minimialist modern art photograph, but their existence is more like that of an eternal nightmare
So terrible. I feel for those folks. Slavery. Would love to send them money to buy their equipment.

The Quinoa people are precious.🥰
It’s daunting to hear how well this was handled as a chronic illness patient in the United States. The way the people in Japan were connected to the people in Chernobyl to share information would be hugely frowned upon by doctors here, and probably even ridiculed. It’s extremely discouraged to learn more about your illness outside of appointments with them that aren’t even helpful. It’s hard to even just be diagnosed here with thyroid disease, and it’s well known that doctors from Ukraine are among the best in world for it because Chernobyl left so many people affected.
The US would have just made that area extremely cheap to live in and called it a day.

Actually, you're right, for instance in MO. ---> Jana Elementary opened in 1970 and sits in the flood plain of Coldwater Creek, which was contaminated with radioactive waste generated from the production of atomic weapons in the 1940s and 50s. They still haven't done a thing about it as of today. They did shut the school down for a time. The government has known for decades and done nothing about it, but allowed the area to populate/grow!. That's just one example of one area.
Mexicans, like the Thai and Japanese people, have such an intrinsic flair for hand craftsmanship and a sublime aesthetic.

I’m native Canadian and you’d be shocked how many delicious things are traditional native foods/offerings/specialties. The one that shocks Canadians from the west coast (i have found personally through my friends I could be wrong) is that maple Syrup is a native “invention”. Also it’s less sweet than table syrup and way better than any other sweetener (all my opinion but hey I grew up in Quebec where most of the world’s maple syrup is made so most likely I’m hella biased). I know that my nation (Wendat) have made maple syrup since before the French arrived because we are one of the many nations who showed them how to do it. I’m all for proper labeling of maple syrup in our case because you can tell at a glance what’s real and what’s table syrup. I can see where the government can get too involved like in Mezcal, to the point that it changes tradition in favour of industry, and ultimately runs business out of using the name that belongs to them. Here in Canada my best example is going to stay maple syrup because it’s what I personally know more of, we have what are known as Sugar Shacks. Normally larger family owned farms that harvest more than just maple, most of them also sell and grow apples and strawberries since maple season isn’t all that long for the good stuff. But man sugar shacks tend to do it the old way. They’ll happily show you how they boil down the maple water and turn into syrup and even the best thing on earth. Fresh maple taffy. Boiling hot maple syrup poured on some fresh packed snow in strips, then the best part, they give you a wooden popsicle stick and you stab that cooling syrup and then roll it up (keep as much snow on there as possible I swear it’s seasoning. Don’t ask how just trust the expert) you can tell when it’s real and when it’s fake by the look, the colour and the taste.

interesting to watch that in so many of these industries, its always the poor worker at the bottom, who does the hard work for very little wages risking their lives and struggling to stay alive, while traders make all the money. Such is the unfairness of life, makes one sad !
Keep the young lady narrator that we hear on most of these segments like the Florida sea sponge. She has the right temperatment, inflection and voice quality that is pleasant to listen to that allows for closer attention to the video itself.

Happy Mother's Day too EVERYONE on this beautiful documentary about business science they have it at Walmart we bought it before but we did not know food stamps do not cover it so we bought it just like Purple rain wine 🍷.
On Mezcal: Imagine that. The big guys stepped in and turned another traditional, artisan craft, into a global corporation cash cow. What a surprise.
1. They show Casa Mezcal in NYC where I often eat, but never knew the name origin.
2. In india, the men drink tea and the women work.
We need to clone as many of those bugs and birds as we can to re populate as many genetic variations as possible.
Excellent compendium of business undertaking videos. About chocolate I believe I read that it's origin goes back 4K years to what today is Mexico, being the origin of one of the best varieties of cocoa; whereas Venezuela, it's competitor, has the Chuao cocoa, used in the most advertised Swiss chocolate's.
