It's totally fair to ask the same pay for the same kind of value delivered. The pay varies with industry and we are not comparing a male in higher paying profession with a woman in lower paying job. So are graduation rates and grades. 2. Where women start dropping off from the workforce is in the mid-late 20s, around the same age they have to go on maternity leaves. 3. When there is a career break in the resume, it is much harder to reenter the workforce. Especially in a populous country like India where there is a large supply of resumes without any gap. Even when they do re-enter they will be way behind in the race. Man who are just as talented as they are or even less talented will be ahead of them simply because they stayed in the game while the women didn't. This problem applies to anyone who takes a sabbatical. 4. There are cultural barriers in India that prevent women from prioritizing their careers. Families pressurize them into being primary care givers and in many cases resign from their job. 5. There aren't enough number of women in certain professions that pay well. It is unclear whether some lower paying jobs are chosen by women out of interest or parents forced them into those professions or this is all they got after sabbatical. It is not uncommon for Indian parents to dictate what major one must choose. A lot of people, both men and women are forced into engineering/medicine by their parents even today. So here is how I interpret this data. Women do start strong with the same salary or higher at entry level and few years that follow. Then face cultural barriers when child care comes into play.
My mom (businesswoman) once told me, government never really cares about women as a human but more of additional money maker (taxes) for the elites etc.
As for child care, the government and companies should do more to ensure both parents get adequate paid time off to take care of the child. Non academics women wherever they work basically construction and agriculture payment will be based on strength and work attitude. Generally male are stronger in physical labour they are getting paid 100 or 200 extra. For business people it's all about how much money you are making for me to give you so out. While I understand the narrative, but I don’t think the modern women should complain about equal opportunity anymore. All doors are open now. Also, certain jobs will never allow for such no matter what we do. So if the narrative is towards managerial positions or CEO, that’s a HR problem not government.
Modern women do have it so much better compared to previous generations. Only a few more hurdles to cross. 1. Maternity/Paternity benefits and division of labor in childcare. The government could do more to ensure job security for parents ensure both parents get adequate time off and address cultural norms that shame men into avoiding household work. 2. Cultural barriers that prevent women from pursuing opportunities that are already available to them. The government could do more to enforce legal age for marriage and prevent child marriages. They should roll out awareness programs and campaigns to address cultural barriers. Families still force the woman to quit their jobs and be the primary caregiver for babies.

I have one question. Let's say they are doctors. All that they need is skills to diagnose properly and to treat properly. Why should the female doctor get less money because she didn't choose to work in coal mines? I know that in physical strength, women (except the exceptions) are not equal to men. These jobs are really risky. Those people who work in such places deserve respect. There's no doubt in it. But if one studies in their 12th class instead of wasting time, then do MBBS from a good college then MD then working as a doctor, how does that make sense that she doesn't deserve equal pay? Unable to pay rents and/or buy foods, no healthcare, no affordable daycare leads to low birth rates, having to work longer hours because of low pays leads to low birth rates. I don't think women are getting low-paying salaries(Rare Cases may be). I even see men getting lower salaries than women. It depends on the skill, working hours, job role and etc.

Nobody forced men to choose dangerous jobs. While I understand the narrative, but I don’t think the modern women should complain about equal opportunity anymore. All doors are open now. Also, certain jobs will never allow for such no matter what we do. So if the narrative is towards managerial positions or CEO, that’s a HR problem not government.
Modern women do have it so much better compared to previous generations. Only a few more hurdles to cross.
1. Maternity/Paternity benefits and division of labor in childcare. The government could do more to ensure job security for parents ensure both parents get adequate time off and address cultural norms that shame men into avoiding household work.
2. Cultural barriers that prevent women from pursuing opportunities that are already available to them. The government could do more to enforce legal age for marriage and prevent child marriages. They should roll out awareness programs and campaigns to address cultural barriers. Families still force the woman to quit their jobs and be the primary caregiver for babies.

Let's say they are doctors. All that they need is skills to diagnose properly and to treat properly.
Why should the female doctor get less money because she didn't choose to work in coal mines? I know that in physical strength, women (except the exceptions) are not equal to men. These jobs are really risky. Those people who work in such places deserve respect. There's no doubt in it.
But if one studies in their 12th class instead of wasting time, then do MBBS from a good college then MD then working as a doctor, how does that make sense that she doesn't deserve equal pay?
