Right after my father showed me this hilarious comedy, I went on youtube to see some of the scenes were there and this is by far my favorite part. Thank you so much for the upload, 5/5, it is in my favorite now and I often come to watch it!
I remember this place. On Sepulveda in Culver City, CA if I remember correctly. Or possibly Overland. One of the streets that ran North-South through Culver. If I remember correclty I think it burned down like a decade ago or possibly longer. I moved from L.A. to S.F. about 4 years ago, so I don;t know what the current status of the place is.
Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles is an Los Angeles institution. This however was shot at a Flooky's Hot Dog restaurant. Same black and yellow decor and uniforms. I just looked them up and they have expanded their menu, and are still around. This video is hilarious.
if you look at 1:10 you'll see the Higgins brothers Steve and David who went on to greater fame especially Steve who can be seen on The Tonight Show. funny movie and is still a favorite since junior high.
*BEST* movie John Cusack ever did! 2nd best for Tim Robbin's who's best is Jacob's Ladder A yelp freidn was just recently as Roscoe's Chicken N Waffles gave the place a *great* review so obviously this came to mind Thanks for posting it
I had lunch today at Roscoe's in Inglewood. Thought about this commercial and found it here on TH-cam. Thanks! By the way Inglewood was good but everyone says Roscoe's Long Beach is the best. That's where Snoop eats.
@TroggDoor Also, I know this is the same one because I recognize the other side of the street from the shots through the window. I was trying for a long time to find the previous address on google maps but no such luck. This is either the Roscoe's formerly at 5910 Jefferson, Sepulveda, Sawtelle, or something like that. Culver City for sure though.
It's a Southern dish. The idea is that the batter left over from the waffles can be used to fry the chicken. Remember, this recipe came from the poor rural south, where they had to be resourceful and waste nothing. But no, Americans don't typically eat chicken and waffles. It's more of a specialty dish nowadays. Roscoe's is a real fast food chain in California, though, that does serve chicken and waffles.
Haha! So you like Poutine? It's pretty good. Yeah, there are poutines everywhere here! One day I'll go to Roscoes! One day... And thanks for the bit of french!
yeah, i heard about how they had to be resourceful with what food they could get their hands on. like the whole deal with the ribs... the whites kept the best cut of the meat and discarded the parts that they considered not worthy or something like that. so the blacks took the ribs and bbq'd them and there ya go... creative cookin'.
-"Am I crying?"
-"No"
-"Well it wouldn't surprise me if I was..."
If this commercial played during the Super Bowl this year it would have been the best one.
Thats true
Check out John Cusack's moves (in hat , dark shades and raincoat to the far right) at 1:40 ! Wonderful!

Two of those back up singer girls were in The Talking Heads for a minute
They're The Pointer Sisters no they weren't.
No, Jesse's right. We used to watch Tapeheads & Stop Making Sense back-to-back in honor of the background singer overlap. :)
Only one of them was.
@@GregoryAlanBaileygamereviews No they're not lol
I recognize the one on the right.

+maziebunny2 Wow, good call! Never would have noticed and I've seen this movie a dozen times.
I always enjoy The Higgins Boys and Gruber on Comedy Central years ago.
I purchased it on DVD ... so it is - or was - available.
Oh? I didn't know it existed. I'm from Quebec, Canada, and we don't have those in here. I thought they put a fictive restaurant.

Beyond ILL! Movie is a keeper as well.
The Higgins Boys are in there, from The Higgins Boys and Gruber, back when Comedy Central was more like MTV. Also back when MTV was more like MTV.
This video is missing one thing- "production value!"
This is why I love America
I remember this video from the early 80s, is that Tim Robbins at the very end who turns the TV off?
Bloody genius. Roscoe's is an L.A. institution.
Get on down wit 'cho bad se'f, Kang!! You da White Blur, fo sure!
When I first saw this movie I thought Roscoes was a joke, then I moved to LA & found out it's a real place... and yes, of course I went
