Max, I like this type of series where you have coach/player teaching you *insert* fighting game. Especially if they're passionate about the game, and it shows with PhiDX, a true hype man. :D
I wanna get back into this game but its so intimidating for someone who doesnt have time besides the weekends to play long sessions and grind. Glad you're getting better and are able to put in the time and effort because this is a great game. Best of luck on your road to the top ranks
If you're only playing on the weekends then you're probably at a rank where people will insist on pressing buttons. Unsolicited, feel free to ignore, but. Find out what your character's longest, safest poke is, to do if you're thinking of whiff punishes. Find out what your safest most plus move is to interrupt any move and basically be the big stop sign to stop them mashing on your offense. It can be a tracking move, an Armored move, heat engager move ,anything. Find a hop kick, an orbital, or any launcher that you can start a juggle with, this'll be your bread and butter when you hit it. If all else fails, rely on legacy buttons; df 1, b 2, and magic 4 And pace yourself. If your hitting a long losing streak decompress by backing out of the lobby and just mashing on computer. You need to have something that'll take you out of the sweaty mentality and be reminded you're playing to de-stress. Insisting on playing hours and hours and being frustrated is just you running into a brick wall and being frustrated that the wall didn't move. Have fun!
@janematthews9087 thanks for the tips and words of encouragement! Definitely appreciate it and I agree about the frustration lol. Understood everything you said except "magic" 4 😅
you don't need long sessions or grind, what you focus on is deliberate practice, so if you played against me for instance and we're practicing specific stuff, you'll learn and pick it up in no time versus if you play just to play and it's far faster to learn then if you played everyday, good sleep is important for this too.
damn bro, watching this feels kinda like learning fighting game culture, not just how to play better. the whole "throw this out, see how they react, and that will inform both of us how we move forward" sounds so close to like "a fight is a conversation between fighters" AAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Max is really good at making people guess on the mix-up and executing lows. He is also great at adapt on the combo based on situation such as where they are at at the stage and what state the opponent is at. I would say when max fully utilizes what is punishable, i fully believe he can achieve tekken king or even higher.

At around 18:30, you mentioned that you tried to go into DEN but was in running. Iirc, do 3+4 in order to get into DEN from running (Edit: Fixed timestamp)
His PC is way better than your PS5 and on top of that, Max tweaked some parameters of the engine in order to improve the visual quality (he briefly talk about it in the beginning of the second session of coaching)
Short response: You're not! Because you're playing a character that has become a braindead 50/50 character, you're not improving. You're just playing the game for what it is: Random
He's learning.
"He's beginning to believe."
Max: "I know Tekken!"
are we gonna talk about max's sick-ass strider lars or what? that shit goes HARD
One of the most satisfying moments in gaming, when you realize you’re GETTING VERY GUD at the game!
It is a very gratifying experience. I felt that way with Dbfz.
Until the certain point where you feel like your improvement feel lesser over the time (like an uncapped exp)
Man I Love PhiDX energy when Max does big moves.
Max going back to tekken 8 brings me joy, i'm so happy
Something about this is actually getting me into Tekken! Phi's reactions definitely help! Are there any videos of him coaching other people?
Check out his TH-cam channel fam. He has plenty of coaching content.
You should watch his videos of him coaching Lilypichu for the Sajam Slam. It is very fun.

15:35 kaz came into phidx's room and hit him with a counter hit df+2
phi is teaching everyone now
It’s always important to get good practice

Magic 4 refers to a characters standing neutral 4 kick. It is called a magic 4 because most characters will counter hit launch with that button.
Love the Tekken content
WE NEED MORE!!!
this feels like Iron-man giving pointers to Captain America on how to F people up more efficiently
Please use Phi's edit of the intro, whenever we get to the final part
The Tekken training arc continues! Soon Max will be as good as Dokibird.

This video was intense!!!! Well done max. 😊
It's all good to hear phiDX get so happy when max do some combos its like watching a father be excited for his kid
Cant wait for new episodes of this
I get as excited as PhiDX when Max hits the arc blast
Phidx so focused, he ain't moving.
I so want this kind of coaching sometime
Perfect perfectionist professor of ps5 pugilism
Phi moaning all over the stream
PhiDX channelling his inner martian 12:13
Max is making Tekken King in no time.
with the chat constantly telling him frames and stuff, yeah its easy, if i had that kind of help i would be tekken god

Seeing my mains locked me in. Drag and Lars
What is with the screen tear?
yeah idk what is going on with there is a lot
not sure either, but the screen tearing was already there in the stream + VOD
Now max and I just have to run the Ft5
I felt like ive watched this video 5 times already lol
A Mishima waifu with good movement is the scariest thing they added to this game.
10:10 what is this scooby doo ass laugh
I really wish i had the ability to fully commit to tekken and some other fighting games, i just can't get past the "im bad" intro barrier lol
I hope you're learning u got demoted real fast last video 😂
Screen tearing is crazy💀
ORA ORA ORA
Why does his Tekken look so smooth and beautiful? I’m on PS5 and it looks last gen in comparison.
Motion blur is an option on PC. It greatly enhances the visual appeal.
His PC is way better than your PS5 and on top of that, Max tweaked some parameters of the engine in order to improve the visual quality (he briefly talk about it in the beginning of the second session of coaching)
Well yeah, you’re on a console and he’s on a pretty strong gaming computer.
wtf is that still image of phidx????
All you really have to do is mash.
This is the wrong intro
I love Lars. I just wish he wasnt such a baby face in the series. Like i wish he had more personality and really had more of a story to fight Jin
abuse the movement. 60% of players think you move backwards and forwards by holding the dpad
All tekken fights look the same.
Was this recorded with V-SYNC off? The tearing is terrible. Watching it is genuinely making me ill
Best Lars advice from God himself, change character cause Lars is trash
