He isn’t shown looking for her or mourning - just his usual, cheerful self. - Why couldn’t Viktor just take everyone’s marigold and sacrifice himself? Then only one person has to die instead of everyone. Or Five could’ve gone back in time and stop Ben from ever giving everyone else the marigold, that way the cleanse never would’ve even happened. - So….Diego and Five just die hating each other? With no resolution whatsoever to the love triangle? - Has Klaus just forgotten three seasons of character development or something? - Why did Ray leave? Did the actor just not want to come back for another season? - Weren’t there supposed to be two versions of Ben in that timeline? Why tease it, then not use it? - Also, way to totally waste Ben all season - According to the final shot, there’s still marigold in the world somehow anyway, so in theory, it’ll just start again? Either that, or it’s symbolic, which imo is naff. - so if Claire and the other kids still exist, but Alison, Diego, and Lila never existed, then how does that not create a paradox? - 6 episodes? I think they addressed Viktor situation because Viktor tells the other that Ben saved him. I remember thinking the same thing until I heard Viktor tell the others no, Ben saved me from getting shot, but that's all I remember them saying... This series did not get a justifiable ending. S1-2 were amazing! S3 was pretty good, but S4 is just so...boring, and it didn't seem to make much sense. 😊😊😊ĺ r

This needed a couple more episodes at LEAST. Jennifer felt like a stranger when she’s apparently popped out of a squid one day??? And clearly a montage is not enough to make ANYONE comfortable with Five and Lila kissing and becoming a couple, all in one episode was too, too much. All in all, it could’ve been okay, had this not been such a rushed ending.
the monster will eat them. the family could have been blipped through 5 to the North Pole. that would have given them 5-6 hours more life, but ultimately it wouldn't have changed anything. that scene where they stand in a circle and die was just to show that they will fight and die as a family. so it wasn't important, they could have gone their separate ways and spent the last few minutes with other people. as soon as the monster has sucked everyone up, it dissolves all other timelines and only the true timeline remains.
One Big plot hole I am having is that is seems so out of character for Reginald to go full Trueman Show for Jennifer and wanting to "protect her" from TUA. I am sorry, but Season 1-3 Reginald would have had orders for those fake residents to unalive Jennifer if there was a slight chance of her escaping. You cannot convince me otherwise and I know this timeline Reggie is supposedly a tiny bit nicer, this is still way out of the realm of what he would do. He spent hundreds of years perfecting his plan only to be foiled partially by Abigail yeah kinda, but many because he didn't have a failsafe option? I don't buy it.
But was it not his wife who put her in "protection". She kidnapped Viktor so the family would be together again and after the get everyone there power back she gave Diego and five the card to Jennifer.
I agree the last two seasons are horrible the show should have ended after season 2 but in the defence of season 3 at least it felt like the umbrella academy and in my opinion had some decent moments season 4 feels like an entirely different show and is worser then season 3.

Since their parents have ceased to exist, their children should no longer exist either. 🤨 Or have the children even inherited part of the Marigold of their parents? This paradox could perhaps again lead to alternative timelines. 🤯 I also wondered where Jennifer came from and how she ended up in the squid. Her first words after her rescue were: "the cleanse". Why? What did she know? Five could have constructed the time-travelling train. Just like the "Time" Commission he did but he can't remember. 🤔 Unfortunately, not all questions were answered.
The ape looks great, all other CGI is absolute balls. Especially their floating heads in the goo as they die. Story went nowhere. Rushed ending. Bad dialogue. klaus went from best to worst character. i subscribed to this channel because you guys do great analysis of a lot of different superpowered and horror adjacent content. However, please be aware of air dates of the content covered (UA S4, august 8th on netflix in the US) and design thumbnails accordingly. It’s august 9th. me and my partner watched the first 3 eps last night. the work, sleep cycle, and general life and etc kept us from finishing the binge. --SPOILER-- however, i now know that Ben maybe turning into a resident evil style monster just from the thumbnail that popped up in my subscriber feed. Didn’t even watch the vid yet. i didn’t even search umbrella academy. either way, can’t wait to see this after we catch up on the rest or the series.

The last two seasons were just nonsense, I liked this series a lot but the writing started to lack, the change of Vanya's character really bothered me tho... I liked her a lot as she was...
The season should have never started with the 6 year time jump in the first episode. It should've picked up immediately after S3 and held off the time jump for 2 episodes. So that there would at least be 8 episodes instead of 6. The time jump made the new reality feel nothing like the one from the season 3 finale. I know we only got a brief moment of it in season 3 but that vibe was so much better than the reality in season 4. And they hardly used their newly upgraded powers. The whole cleanse nonsense was so dumb. The explanation that the siblings being born caused infinite apocalyptic timelines also makes no sense. Because without a doubt, Reginald and Abbigail still exist in the "sacred timeline". And more than likely already have the "Marigold" particle developed, as well as the "Durango" byproduct. So the cycle would repeat anyways regardless of their sacrifice. The "cause" shouldn't have been their births at all. It should've been the creation of "Marigold". The show could've ended with them just loosing their powers forever and living normal lives. I thought season 4's big apocalypse threat would be that reality itself was destabilizing due to the changes Reggie and Allison made whilst designing it. I.e. Having Claire and Ray exist at the same time. As well as many other things that the universe wouldn't be able to handle due to it sort of "knowing" how it's supposed to be. Which I guess was kind of touched on with the whole "sacred timeline" thing. And that would be the reason for all the "Umbrella Effects" (Mandela effect).

After seeing season 3 I hoped that season 4 would bring back hope for this series but I was so worng. There were so many plot holes and questions left unawnsered in this season. What happens to Sloane?? does she make it into the new timeline? Is she still alive??? Why did Ray leave? Like did he not want to be with Allison anymore or maybe he died idk.. If Allison, Diego, and Lila are now dead how are their children still alive in the new timeline if their parents no longer exist in any timeline? I mean doesnt that create a grandfather paradox?? Also wasnt there supposed to be two Bens in the this finale season because at the end credits scene of season 3 we see Ben on a metro train reading a book and 2 years ago the show's creators revealed that this was the Umbrella academy's deceased Ben but in season 4 hes no where to be found. I could list many more plot holes but I dont wanna waste my berath because overall I was truly dissapointed bythis finale season.

asn't crazy about season 1. Then watched season 2 and enjoyed it so I went back and watched 1 again. Then three came out. I really wasn't impressed. I felt that the sparrow academy was just cannon fodder. It had some good scenes but I felt like it betrayed a few characters. Luther who was so in love with Allyson in season one and two now meets a new girl and marries her ib about a weeks time. Was he really that in love with being "in Love' and the character of Allison. She went over to the dark side. Now the fourth season was awful, disappointing and a waste of my time and effort. They had all the characters separated too much in my opinion. With only 6 episodes they should have had more whole family scenes. Then we have a 6 year time jump so we get no answers about anything. Diego and Lila now have three kids-we see one who is 7 but they only mention the twins in passing and we never see them. Ben is in prison....where did the boy from the train go? I always believed that Five respected Lila but having them have an affair? I know it was six years but are we saying a male and female cannot be together for years and just be friends. This also makes me have less respect for 5-sleeping with his brothers wife. So much for family above all else. Same for Lila. It gave me the willies. Then everyone dying at the end. Isn't there more marigold kids? Did the monster just die when the ben/jen monster ate everyone? What happens to Reginald and his wife. They just get eaten too. So bad and I have had it on my calendar for over a week. I wish I hadn't watched it or it had ended after the third season.
*The showrunners should have went this way:* - The Umbrella Academy got what they deserve and they're actually really happy and super content. Claire got her husband and daughter back. Luther found Sloane. Viktor finally get to live the life she wanted. Diego and Lila have a happy married life. Klaus has overcome his fears. - The only one who feels out-of-place are Ben and Five . Ben because unlike the Umbrella Academy this is the first time he lost his timeline and can't let go of his life before. So he went on a search for Marigold. And Five, who after experiencing multiple Appcalypses can't rest until he got a solid proof that this realoty wouldn't end just like the previous ones. - But the new reality isn't perfect because the process of time reset was botched in season 3 so the timelines are bleeding into each other. - The Keepers are those people who regained their memories from their previous timelines. Their lives got screwed up by the new timeline so they're trying to get back to their respective realities. This motivation would give more meaning to their movement. - The Keeper's movement is going nowhere though... so that's when Ben came to the picture. Their motivations align. Ben proved to them that they're not delusionals and they were indeed screwed over by the Hargreeves. Their movement becomes stronger. - Reginald's wife would have a more expanded role. Reginald wouldn't tell her how she got resurrected so she went in her own quest. Eventually she would learn what Reginald did and help the Keepers with the Cleanse . In this version, Gene and Jean wouldn't be the figureheads of the Keepers, and there wouldn't be a forced feud between the figureheads unlike this season. - The Keepers threatened the paradise that the Umbrellas found. They would individually discover certain parts of this conspiracy to end this new timeline. - The Umbrellas have no power. But their individual discoveries would all lead them to The Keepers head quarter where they're trying to recreate the marigold. - They found out that Five has been kidnapped by this group. His infiltration as a CIA agent has been exposed. - Reginald's wife explained that the combined powers of Five and Ben could take them to this dimension that looks like a Train station (a place where you could explore the multiverse). Since Five has no powers, he's easily captured by this group and the CIA who hired him is in on this as well to lure him. Their goal is to reignite Five's and Ben's powers. - They succeeded but the trains aren't stopping for the Keepers. They're tied down by this new reality so they have to end it. - This incident would also be the reason why the Umbrellas got their powers back. They would have no choice but to get back to action to protect their new timeline. - Umbrellas would be forced to work with Reginald for the last time in order to stop his wife and the Keepers. But the Umbrellas are no longer controlled by Reginald. They greew out of his Shadow. Their time together would show how the Umbrellas developed over time. Their traumas are still there but they're learning to cope with it and they would all come to accept the fact that it's their collective effort that brought about the multiple apocalypses in their worlds. The Apocalypses are their shadows and they must deal with the consequences and responsibiltiies.

So there's like 40 kids with Marigold right?. Sparrow academy Phoenix academy umbrella academy. Why did only require eight people with Marigold to kill the monster. What about everybody else?. If it only took eight of them, theoretically one of them probably could have just sacrificed themselves if they didn't need all 40 something kids

Loved the ending. Not sure why people are complaining so much other than people love to complain. Watched all 4 seasons and loved the ending. I cried and it was a real ending
Not sure if you’re being sarcastic, but if you loved the ending then good for you. So many questions were left unanswered. Claire and Allison’s last interaction didn’t move me because of the lack of screentime together. It’s as if so many scenes have been cut or were simply rushed. Ben and Jennifer’s relationship wasn’t explained well and why there’s a special attraction between the two across the timelines.

This series did not get a justifiable ending. S1-2 were amazing! S3 was pretty good, but S4 is just so...boring, and it didn't seem to make much sense.

This needed a couple more episodes at LEAST. Jennifer felt like a stranger when she’s apparently popped out of a squid one day??? And clearly a montage is not enough to make ANYONE comfortable with Five and Lila kissing and becoming a couple, all in one episode was too, too much. All in all, it could’ve been okay, had this not been such a rushed ending.

the monster will eat them. the family could have been blipped through 5 to the North Pole. that would have given them 5-6 hours more life, but ultimately it wouldn't have changed anything. that scene where they stand in a circle and die was just to show that they will fight and die as a family. so it wasn't important, they could have gone their separate ways and spent the last few minutes with other people. as soon as the monster has sucked everyone up, it dissolves all other timelines and only the true timeline remains.

One Big plot hole I am having is that is seems so out of character for Reginald to go full Trueman Show for Jennifer and wanting to "protect her" from TUA. I am sorry, but Season 1-3 Reginald would have had orders for those fake residents to unalive Jennifer if there was a slight chance of her escaping. You cannot convince me otherwise and I know this timeline Reggie is supposedly a tiny bit nicer, this is still way out of the realm of what he would do. He spent hundreds of years perfecting his plan only to be foiled partially by Abigail yeah kinda, but many because he didn't have a failsafe option? I don't buy it.

But was it not his wife who put her in "protection". She kidnapped Viktor so the family would be together again and after the get everyone there power back she gave Diego and five the card to Jennifer.

The ape looks great, all other CGI is absolute balls. Especially their floating heads in the goo as they die. Story went nowhere. Rushed ending. Bad dialogue. klaus went from best to worst character. The season should have never started with the 6 year time jump in the first episode.
It should've picked up immediately after S3 and held off the time jump for 2 episodes.
So that there would at least be 8 episodes instead of 6.
The time jump made the new reality feel nothing like the one from the season 3 finale.
I know we only got a brief moment of it in season 3 but that vibe was so much better than the reality in season 4.
And they hardly used their newly upgraded powers.
The whole cleanse nonsense was so dumb.
The explanation that the siblings being born caused infinite apocalyptic timelines also makes no sense. Because without a doubt, Reginald and Abbigail still exist in the "sacred timeline". And more than likely already have the "Marigold" particle developed, as well as the "Durango" byproduct. So the cycle would repeat anyways regardless of their sacrifice. The "cause" shouldn't have been their births at all. It should've been the creation of "Marigold". The show could've ended with them just loosing their powers forever and living normal lives.
I thought season 4's big apocalypse threat would be that reality itself was destabilizing due to the changes Reggie and Allison made whilst designing it. I.e. Having Claire and Ray exist at the same time. As well as many other things that the universe wouldn't be able to handle due to it sort of "knowing" how it's supposed to be. Which I guess was kind of touched on with the whole "sacred timeline" thing.
And that would be the reason for all the "Umbrella Effects" (Mandela effect).

This season was garbage.
After seeing season 3 I hoped that season 4 would bring back hope for this series but I was so worng. There were so many plot holes and questions left unawnsered in this season. What happens to Sloane?? does she make it into the new timeline? Is she still alive??? Why did Ray leave? Like did he not want to be with Allison anymore or maybe he died idk.. If Allison, Diego, and Lila are now dead how are their children still alive in the new timeline if their parents no longer exist in any timeline? I mean doesnt that create a grandfather paradox?? Also wasnt there supposed to be two Bens in the this finale season because at the end credits scene of season 3 we see Ben on a metro train reading a book and 2 years ago the show's creators revealed that this was the Umbrella academy's deceased Ben but in season 4 hes no where to be found. I could list many more plot holes but I dont wanna waste my berath because overall I was truly dissapointed bythis finale season.

asn't crazy about season 1. Then watched season 2 and enjoyed it so I went back and watched 1 again. Then three came out. I really wasn't impressed. I felt that the sparrow academy was just cannon fodder. It had some good scenes but I felt like it betrayed a few characters. Luther who was so in love with Allyson in season one and two now meets a new girl and marries her ib about a weeks time. Was he really that in love with being "in Love' and the character of Allison. She went over to the dark side. Now the fourth season was awful, disappointing and a waste of my time and effort. They had all the characters separated too much in my opinion. With only 6 episodes they should have had more whole family scenes. Then we have a 6 year time jump so we get no answers about anything. Diego and Lila now have three kids-we see one who is 7 but they only mention the twins in passing and we never see them. Ben is in prison....where did the boy from the train go? I always believed that Five respected Lila but having them have an affair? I know it was six years but are we saying a male and female cannot be together for years and just be friends. This also makes me have less respect for 5-sleeping with his brothers wife. So much for family above all else. Same for Lila. It gave me the willies. Then everyone dying at the end. Isn't there more marigold kids? Did the monster just die when the ben/jen monster ate everyone? What happens to Reginald and his wife. They just get eaten too. So bad and I have had it on my calendar for over a week. I wish I hadn't watched it or it had ended after the third season.
*The showrunners should have went this way:*
- The Umbrella Academy got what they deserve and they're actually really happy and super content. Claire got her husband and daughter back. Luther found Sloane. Viktor finally get to live the life she wanted. Diego and Lila have a happy married life. Klaus has overcome his fears.
- The only one who feels out-of-place are Ben and Five . Ben because unlike the Umbrella Academy this is the first time he lost his timeline and can't let go of his life before. So he went on a search for Marigold. And Five, who after experiencing multiple Appcalypses can't rest until he got a solid proof that this realoty wouldn't end just like the previous ones.
- But the new reality isn't perfect because the process of time reset was botched in season 3 so the timelines are bleeding into each other.
- The Keepers are those people who regained their memories from their previous timelines. Their lives got screwed up by the new timeline so they're trying to get back to their respective realities. This motivation would give more meaning to their movement.
- The Keeper's movement is going nowhere though... so that's when Ben came to the picture. Their motivations align. Ben proved to them that they're not delusionals and they were indeed screwed over by the Hargreeves. Their movement becomes stronger.
- Reginald's wife would have a more expanded role. Reginald wouldn't tell her how she got resurrected so she went in her own quest. Eventually she would learn what Reginald did and help the Keepers with the Cleanse . In this version, Gene and Jean wouldn't be the figureheads of the Keepers, and there wouldn't be a forced feud between the figureheads unlike this season.
- The Keepers threatened the paradise that the Umbrellas found. They would individually discover certain parts of this conspiracy to end this new timeline.
- The Umbrellas have no power. But their individual discoveries would all lead them to The Keepers head quarter where they're trying to recreate the marigold.
- They found out that Five has been kidnapped by this group. His infiltration as a CIA agent has been exposed.
- Reginald's wife explained that the combined powers of Five and Ben could take them to this dimension that looks like a Train station (a place where you could explore the multiverse). Since Five has no powers, he's easily captured by this group and the CIA who hired him is in on this as well to lure him. Their goal is to reignite Five's and Ben's powers.
- They succeeded but the trains aren't stopping for the Keepers. They're tied down by this new reality so they have to end it.
- This incident would also be the reason why the Umbrellas got their powers back. They would have no choice but to get back to action to protect their new timeline.
- Umbrellas would be forced to work with Reginald for the last time in order to stop his wife and the Keepers. But the Umbrellas are no longer controlled by Reginald. They greew out of his Shadow. Their time together would show how the Umbrellas developed over time. Their traumas are still there but they're learning to cope with it and they would all come to accept the fact that it's their collective effort that brought about the multiple apocalypses in their worlds. The Apocalypses are their shadows and they must deal with the consequences and responsibiltiies.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic, but if you loved the ending then good for you. So many questions were left unanswered. Claire and Allison’s last interaction didn’t move me because of the lack of screentime together. It’s as if so many scenes have been cut or were simply rushed. Ben and Jennifer’s relationship wasn’t explained well and why there’s a special attraction between the two across the timelines.
So is Reginald still around since he was the reason the children were brought about in the first place??

Please... i don't want it explained, as it was hard enough to swallow when I watched it. Honestly a waste of time to watch, yet I kept going hoping something ANYTHING would happen to change how this was going.... nooooope.
Not a good ending they should have transferred the marigold back to the bottle, five sacrifices himself by teleporting them to the subway, teleports back and let the creature take him and the bottle of marigold

Same! I only made to episode 2 and like 15 min of episode 3. I decided to just let someone spoil it for me.

Pretty disappointed with season 4. The 3 seasons were great. Especially the first two. But this was just horrible and incomplete.
Camt velieve that 5 actor has barely grown at all. Doesn't surprise me that they are endung it with a short season taboot. Each season has aeem to not been as good as the last. Havent started thus season yet tho
