Great video! I just picked up one of these bikes the other day. It’s blue just like your reference picture. It’s rough but not as bad as yours was. I’m glad to see you get the bike going again. Did you replace the clutch plates? If so where did you get them? Also did the bike at that salvage yard have exhaust? Mine is missing. Thanks!
I did not replace the clutch plates, but I do think I've seen them show up on ebay occasionally. I soaked them in CLR, then sanded the rust of the metal pieces of the plates, then soaked in oil and reinstalled. The bike I got the tank from was a Bushmaster, not a Sidewinder. So it's exhaust is different. I have never seen a sidewinder at the yard yet. They are hard to come by. Thanks for watching my video! part 3 should be up sometime today. check it out!
I bought clutch plates for my blue 1969 F4 from Plenters in New Zealand, and you could try Vintage Kawasaki in Canada, both places stock some usefull bits for these bikes and give excellent service in normal times!.
Doctor Dirk I ended up finding a set on eBay. I’m moving to a new place next month and it has a work space. I may be uploading some videos of the restoration.
@@Evrythingkool Good to hear. I don't think these odd little bikes were very popular even when new!. I came across pictures of them when researching my F9, but never thought I'd see one land in the UK, then one turned up at an importers twenty miles away!. It'd had a hard life but was basicly complete and now it's nearly finished but some parts are marooned at chrome/zinc platers etc until things get back to normal here. Good luck.
The gears of my F4 oil pump do not rotate continuously, what is wrong? When the gear turns, the internal rod rises and hits the cover, preventing it from turning any further.
My restoration is progressing, but I don't know where to install the check valve (PN16087-002) in the parts list. Could you please send me a photo of the installation on your F4?
Great fun and nice video. Can’t wait to see the finished project
Thanks Tony!

Doctor Dirk do you know how to identify the year on these bikes? I know the were produced from 68-70 but I don’t know the exact year of mine.

You’ll probably have to disassemble the pump to see what’s wrong with it. It comes apart pretty easily. Good luck.
@@mdavis472000 thank you. I will try.
However, the new oil pump has the same phenomenon and only rotates at a certain angle, so I have doubts about that.
