I'm so glad I caught this fresh so hopefully I can get in my 2 cents worth b4 you read the comments. I wanted to suggest their cover of GOLD... But first, please watch the original by Kiara so you can see how they can take a techno mess and upgrade with their voices what she had to do with technology. And it's just them sitting on a couch with microphones. Also, check out Home Free's cover of END OF THE ROAD by Boyz 2 Men. And I have to agree...I think PTX is the BEST although I love Home Free too.
there is a 15 minute video called 'introduction to pentatonix' that tells how they got together and the early years. another helpful video is 'making of evergreen' that shows them recording an album in 2 weeks and you see how they arrange a song and decide who is going to sing what. they have great original music, many collabs. they can sing any genre including rap. enjoying your reactions..
Yes, "the new black guy" is Matt Sallee, who replaced Avi Kaplan in 2017. (Avi left amicably for personal reasons.) Matt is a bass with an incredible range, as are the entire group. Their Vevo version of "Kiss from a Rose" displays his talent, as well as "O Holy Night", if you're up to a Christmas song in January. (We Pentaholics will listen to Christmas music from PTX all year!!) I would like to recommend their original song, "Sing", which was a tribute to their followers and has a few celebrities in it as well. Some fun rapping can be found in their cover of Macklemore and Lewis' "Can't Hold Us." There's a lot to see here! Enjoy!!
Avi left amicably and they searched for a replacement and found Matt who is a super nice man and outstanding singer. No other changes. Kirstin changes her hair color and styles, often with wigs, and Mitch changed his hairstyle and color frequently - but keep in mind they have been doing this for 13 years, so they literally have grown up. So the early videos have Avi but anything past 2017 has Matt.
Comparing groups in the a capella genre is really difficult. They are all so unique. I just enjoy them all. Avi, the original bass, is the only person who left the group. Matt Sallee took his place. If you want to know about his history, Peter Barber on TH-cam has a podcast interview with Matt that explains how he made it into the group. Somebody has already or will post their entire history on one of your reactions. It’s a really good intro to them. My favorite performances are their live ones. All the Hollywood Bowl 2022 videos are good. If you want to watch them record, try their short film, the Recording of Evergreen.
I have to put in a bid for Voctave as the best, although I love and admire PTX, Home Free, and VoicePlay. Thankfully, it is not a competition, and there is room for boatloads of excellence!
Matt, the newest member, in the white jacket, is the new bass. He took Avi’s place. Matt has good range too. I love those dissonant chords too, and Pentatonix used them a lot.
Check out The Kevin Show/Kevins 5th, the Christmas Extravaganza..it’s phenomenal and shows how talented “the beat boxer” is. You also get some backstory on how he joined the group
Oh you haven't even really gone down the rabbit hole on PTX. They took off in 2011 on The Sing-Off. You're still in their early phase. The story of how they began is a really amazing piece. Good luck on your rabbit hole
Great reaction. Keep going down these rabbit holes of Pentatonix and Home Free. You need to check out Home Free’s cover of Boys II Men “End of the Road”.
Yes, both Mitch and Kirstin change they hair style a lot, the only change in the group is Avi and Matt, Avi is the beard guy with the deep voice, the base, Avi left Ptx in 2017, Matt is the new bass, and is with them since them, he is great singer too
Pentatonix is also in my mind around Christmas. Another acapella group synonymous with Christmas music is Voctave. This group covers a lot of Disney music. Incredible vocals and harmonies. If you haven't listened to this group, then I highly recommend you do.
Avid Kaplan was the original bass singer (beard, long hair usually kept under a cap). His left after about six years because he found the pace of production and touring too draining, and because he wanted to make his own music. Matt Sallee replaced him. Avi has gone in a folk-ish direction as a solo artist; check out "Change on the Rise" and "The Last Thing I Need", but it's all good.
That's a 3rd great version of this song (the original of course and Disturbed's version). I only discovered this group a few months ago as well, though reaction channels like yours and Black Pegasus. I realize now that they've been big for a while, but I'm not sure where people discovered them as music is so fragmented these days. I grew up listening to radio in the 70s and 80s and now I still listen to a lot of internet radio (BBC 6 is great, though I'm in the US) but never heard Pentatonix played anywhere before I found them on TH-cam.
Matt Sailee replaced Avi Kaplan as bass in 2017. Avi left amicably for personal reasons. He has gone solo, performing more in a folk/country vein. He has his own YT channel. Mitch and Kirsti are chameleons and often change their looks.
I appreciate the time you take to do your reactions. If you have time could you react to Sleep Theory (Numb). They're a newer band underrated I would appreciate it.
Please check out some Voiceplay!!!! Gotta check all of the A Cappella!!!! Every single group has amazing music to check out!! I can give you some recommendations if you would like! Love your channel!!!!!!
Bad with names but only guy who is new is one in white jacket, the original bass left because he has a family and the success of the band became too much on his family life. He left the band to focus on family and his own music.
90’s medley mix is a must!! It will get you dancing!
Their cover of "Mad World" is unforgettable.
Yes!! I second that one!
Amazing performance
They are doing Disturbs version that is the best I have ever seen. It gives me goose pimples and makes me cry.

Mary, did you know - Pentatonix

#PTX #HOMEFREE #VOICEPLAY #THEBASSGANG
I've seen them in concert - they're indescribable! Please get tickets if you ever get a chance!

Avi left he had the beard and did bass and brought in Matt who is also amazing! Avi is a solo artist now.

Lol...I remember the Bewitched switch. They and Home Free are the best acapella in my opinion. Peace, Love!!
Kirstie and Mitch (counter-tenor) are your basic chameleons. Avi Kaplan, original bass, left in 2017 for personal health reasons.
Oh you haven't even really gone down the rabbit hole on PTX. They took off in 2011 on The Sing-Off. You're still in their early phase. The story of how they began is a really amazing piece. Good luck on your rabbit hole
If you'd like to hear another version of this from a stellar bass guy, check out Geoff Castelluci's version.
Great reaction. Keep going down these rabbit holes of Pentatonix and Home Free. You need to check out Home Free’s cover of Boys II Men “End of the Road”.

Love hearing the feedback on all these videos. If you haven’t checked out El Estepario yet, he’s another level.

THERE'S NO CHOOSING, THEY'RE ALL FANTASTIC!😄CHECK OUT HOME FREE'S 'DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR' ADAM (BEAT BOXER) ARRANGED IT
It is the most beautiful version of that song that I have ever heard.
For your soul .....
AUDIOSLAVE "Cochise"
Watch the video

Avi left to do his own stuff and he was bass and the new guy Jason is awesome also! the short guy is MITCH!
George Jones "The Corvette Song".
the old Vivian switch lol
You should react to Todrick Hall and Pentatonix, Wizard of Ahhhs. Great
Matt Sailee replaced Avi Kaplan as bass in 2017. Avi left amicably for personal reasons. He has gone solo, performing more in a folk/country vein. He has his own YT channel. Mitch and Kirsti are chameleons and often change their looks.
You should check out their covers of Imagine and New Rules
I appreciate the time you take to do your reactions. If you have time could you react to Sleep Theory (Numb). They're a newer band underrated I would appreciate it.
you need to react to the original by Simon & Garfunkel, will put this version to shame
