    Valid criticism... my only gripe with CS is that some of the secure-ex sheaths dull the blade every time i pull the blade out or put it back in, and doesn't matter how carefully i do it trying to put the pressure on the spine avoiding edge hitting the sheat, or in knives like Recon 1 or Ti-lite the blade grind stops then there's this ridiculous thick spot of steel before the ricasso? Like it makes no sense, and makes sharpening unnecessarily hard..
    Other than that i love CS knives and appreciate the unique features and the bomb proof durability, the super tight pocket clips is not good for daily use, but i like it in those situations that a looser clip might cause the knife to fall, like when im boating or biking etc...

      Same experience with secure-ex sheaths, defeating the purpose of a knife... Other than that I enjoy my CS a lot.

    I’ve a number of CS knives. Most of those I have functional pocket clips. Other knife manufacturers have stiff pocket clips. I don’t have any CS fixed blades. Tel lock or uticlip can make a decent fixed blade sheath pocket clips. Thanks for taking the time to bring us your thoughts and opinion.

      Alright that's good, I'm glad yours work well for you. Yeah I've seen at least 1 knife with a bad clip from every brand I've handled at some point. Cold steel is just the worst offender I've seen by far. Their Fixed blades are really nice from the ones I've handled/owned. Thanks for the reccomendations and for commenting!

    I totally agree cold steel pocket clips do suck! However their C clips are excellent for small to medium sized fixed blades I bought 9 of em and put them on various knives leathernecks of different blade styles and some others and they actually work great it is a shame that you have to immediately buy a different clip when you buy a cold steel knife though 😢😢🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🙄😖

  • @lsyanez

    You have to remember most cold steel knives is meant for tactical use, the spartan is a great tool for everything.
    The Talwar is obviously a weapon just like all of the ones on the table except for maybe the siganture kobun and the peacemaker, Cold steel puts quality into the steel not the sheath, handle or pocketclips.
    Yes its important with a good sheath and pocketclip, but specifically those knives are meant for tactical use and self defense and some minor edc tasks.
    And the serrations cold steel makes is designed to be the best at cutting meat or someone else, maybe it goes dull quick but if you beat it down everyday cutting whatever you do, abusing the knife of course it will get dull just like any other knife.

    • @jacobreviewsthings
      @jacobreviewsthings  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm aware of why they exist. I can tell you from personal experience that speed matters. I've never had to use a knife on somone thank god, but I've had to pull one someone for self defense 2 times. A knife you can't deploy, or carry cause the clip is ass, is a knife you can't use. Same thing with tactical knives and search and rescue and knifes. Speed and ease of use matters. That kobun is a monster of a knife but if I can't get it off my belt, the other guy with a knife or gun has the advantage.

    • @jacobreviewsthings
      @jacobreviewsthings  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also im not the only person with this issue with their serrations. This is a quote from michael Janich.
      Cold Steel’s serrations - which have much smaller teeth than those of other manufacturers - cut very well initially. However, their smaller teeth make them somewhat more prone to chipping. They are also more challenging to sharpen. Although Lansky makes a pocket sharpener specifically for Cold Steel’s serrations - using it is a time-consuming process.

      @@jacobreviewsthings Ive used the Spartan many many times and its great, if there's one knife i could have it would be the Spartan, the Voyager series has the most shittiest pocket clips ive ever been near i know that, but when picking a tactical blade personally i prefer Emerson wave, Bastinelli, Spyderco, Cold Steel you know all of those.
      I cant defend that the Voyagers have good pocket clips because they simply dont, i got my vaquero and the pocket clip was just disappointing but at least i got a reliable deadly knife that will be super effective in a knife fight or whatever it might be.
      I always on my secure ex sheaths use a clip like you have on your kobun because the clips are usually shit like you said and sadly cold steel dont really take much thought into that and it should be fixed since they want us people to carry and use them
      But i guess my point is that every knife from cold steel has a purpose, Voyagers are great knives for fighting and some tasks but the pocket clip is horrible. Anyway have a nice day 😊

    As a Knife collector and user who owns litterally dozens of Cold Steel knives and dozens of spyderco knicves...... I disagree, syderco is no where near the level of cold steel, despite being WAY nmore expensive. Also, anyone knows from experience that you NEVER buy serrated blades for working or utility purposes unless they are disoposable....... You should know that working at a knife store, Id hate to think how many people you have told to buy serrated knives to trim their plants outside. Maybe yall are getting counterfeit cold steels from your supplier and just dont realize it because they are hands down the best production line knives on the maeket. They crap on spyderco dollar for dollar and pound for pound. In fact, spyderco blades go dull faster than most other cheaper Chinese brands out there in my very extensive experience with them.

      After readin your comment i get the feeling I think that you took my video here a little personally for some reason. You also don't know as much about knives as you seem to think you do (we have customers like you come in occasionally, always a good laugh). Spyderco and buck are both famous for how well made their steel is. Serrations can be used for literally anything, but there are certain tasks that they are better at. I'm surprised I have to explain this to an expert like yourself. Another thing most people like you don't realize is that serrations are sharpenable! Shocking right? Idk why you think you only need to buy disposable ones. Also why are you spending that much money on spydercos if you've had such bad experiences with them? Seems like a waste of your own money. Lots of weirdness in this comment to disect man.
