What a pro. She’s 54, still singing it in the high key. The climax on the high As taxes her to the max. You can certainly hear it, but she never shows any signs of it. I saw her in recital in Philadelphia around this same time. She was absolutely hypnotizing. We cheered her till we were hoarse.
She is a passionate intellectual. Listen to some of her explanations of her own interpretations. That she has such an amazing technique and pleasing sonority are bonuses.
To me, this is onne of the best, if not the best, interpretation of this lied. Absolutely amazing.
Extraordinaria.!!!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a wonderful beginning. After 3 seconds we get an idea how Gretchen feels. Her nerves are just a thin thread, her longing for getting kissed is driving her almost mad - great interpretation
You GO, Girl!!! I love you always, Madam Ameling! Thanks for your great teaching in Baden.
I can't stop admiring her.
To me the absolute best version of this lied.❤
The great ones always make it sound so easy. Ameling is simply one of the finest ever. We completely lose sight of the difficulty involved as she allows us to escape to the composer's world with her leading us by the hand. WOW!
Highest vocal and artistic perfection, with many lovely interpretational details such as the diminuendo on ´Kuss´.
Such a wonderful memento of Elly Ameling in performance, her clarity of tone, nuance, expression of text and musicality. Excellent Rudolf Jansen too.
Tenortalker ;
Indeed an outstanding pianist Rudolf Jansen! What a treat!
She does what few other singers will dare: a portamento on the final "verGEHen sollte". It's a flourish considered tasteless in all but the most expert hands.
SUBLIME DAMA Y PIANISTA..GRAXIEEE SIEMPRE
amazing control!😮

I really really like it ! Please upload more when you have time. Thank you...Thank you... Thank you.
Brava....
Genialer Song - von Schubert. Gut interpretiert. Warum hat "mein" Goethe das nicht verstanden?
Gretchen am Spinnrade
Meine Ruh’ ist hin,
Mein Herz ist schwer,
Ich finde sie nimmer
Und nimmermehr.
Wo ich ihn nicht hab’
Ist mir das Grab,
Die ganze Welt
Ist mir vergällt.
Mein armer Kopf
Ist mir verrückt
Mein armer Sinn
Ist mir zerstückt.
Meine Ruh’ ist hin,
Mein Herz ist schwer,
Ich finde sie nimmer
Und nimmermehr.
Nach ihm nur schau’ ich
Zum Fenster hinaus,
Nach ihm nur geh’ ich
Aus dem Haus.
Sein hoher Gang,
Sein’ edle Gestalt,
Seines Mundes Lächeln,
Seiner Augen Gewalt.
Und seiner Rede
Zauberfluss.
Sein Händedruck,
Und ach, sein Kuss!
Meine Ruh’ ist hin,
Mein Herz ist schwer,
Ich finde sie nimmer
Und nimmermehr.
Mein Busen drängt sich
Nach ihm hin.
Ach dürft’ ich fassen
Und halten ihn.
Und küssen ihn
So wie ich wollt’
An seinen Küssen
Vergehen sollt’!
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
curioso como hoy en día esta versión sería considerada técnicamente mediocre, igual que muchas de los
80. Lo bueno es que hemos avanzado en la técnica
vocal.
