Aside from the members writing, producing, and composing the majority of their songs...the 3 rappers (RM, J-Hope, and SUGA) create most of the beats as well. BTS is made up of 3 rappers and 4 vocalists (Jungkook, Jimin, Jin, and V). They are just ubber ubber talented! Thanks for reacting to these amazing young men. Their dancing is off the chain as well. They've been together for more than 10 years and their connection with their fan base (ARMY) is something I have never experienced in my 59 yr lifetime. They are just different and special. Their music discography is so versatile and diverse too. If you want to know more about their history and each member I would recommend watching "A Guide to BTS Members) by Taylor Mari. Actually I would say that the rappers can produce but they have in-house producers that have done a good portion of the producing. HOWEVER they are very involved in every aspect of their art. Suga does occasionally produce for other artists but it isn’t often, partly due to him being busy with BTS.
Suga wrote the hook and his share of the lyrics but the song was actually produced by the amazing DocSkim (the same guy who wrote Lie and produced it for Jimin and produced Wildflower with RM and has been their band keyboard player). I had always assumed Suga produced it too but he just didn’t have the time and it might have been too emotionally draining. Docskim hasn’t produced a lot but he has hit it absolutely out of the park when he does. He was burned out and going to stop making music till he got his inspiration back making Wildflower with RM he said.
I love watching you and others step out of your familiar circle. And discover that other people from other countries have a lot of entertainment to offer us. They have watched us.And now it is coming full circle. They are more than able to give back to us. Korean music has evolved so much. Especially R&B, hip hop, and rap. These guys are way more than most people know. ARMY knows but regular folks don't get it til they get it. They are something very very special, seriously. I've never experienced a music act like this in my LIFE. I don't think I ever will. Keep going, you will be hard pressed to find a song that's "bad" from them. They just don't make a bad song. Even if something isn't your style or vibe- there's no denying the talent and polish they put on every single tune they put out over the past 10-13 years
Like a couple of the other commenters I've never particularly liked the rap especially Western rap but after hearing BTS how they Spit fire I love their rap particularly because it has such meaning when you really read the lyrics of what they are saying
Most k-pop groups have people in the group that sing and rap. BTS has three rappers that also sing (RM, Suga and JHope).They are also the main producers and writers. Their solo work is amazing but watching the three of them play off of each other is a different level. Then you have the vocal line. Two of them can rap pretty good (Jimin and Jk) one tries hard and is getting better (V) then you have the oldest member (Jin) that can spin words so fast you need instant replay just to catch them all. 😂 💜

PS ..and the meaning of most of their music (and the videos) has a very deep, message. Not often about a two-person relationship. Very young fans Iike the singing, dancing, outfits, and how good looking they are, 🙂 while youth and adults also make a connection with the message in their own lives. Not sure if you've done the cyphers yet (1-4), if not give them a listen. Since you began with the rappers, I'd suggest checking out their solo works. I'd go in the order they signed with the company: RM, SUGA, J-HOPE. Ask your viewers for the top 5 solo songs for each rapper. Stay curious.
They ALL produce Suga(Agust D) is the main producer and has won awards for other artists. They also collab to keep it fresh as well BUT ALL 7 members write songs and produce both for the group and solo work. They have over 700 awards between them.

My favorite song. This rap line has ruined me. I can no longer listen to a majority of American hip hop. BTS’s deep lyrics, flow, changeups, energy, and production are top tier! (They were heavily influenced by 80s American hip hop.)
As previously mentioned, the title "KPop" or "Boy Band" turns people off before they even give BTS a chance. But obviously 2 billion people know who they are! KPop means something differnt in Korea. The West think of NSync or the Backstreet Boys or even One Direction....that's not who BTS is at all, as you can tell. They have so many styles of music, it will take you months to listen to it all.
