Good video comparing the two. For my my decision between the r5 and r5c really only came down to 2 options. I’m mainly a photographer and i live in a colder are so over heating and long takes arent as important to me. The ability to shoot photo and have my video settings set to a custom setting at the press of a button and able to hit swap between the two instantly is big for me. I’m able to grab the few stills i need hit record and grab video in that same moment. The lag between photo and video on r5c wouldn’t allow that. Second would be battery life. Again as a hybrid shooter on those shoots having an hour of battery life on the r5c or less wouldn’t be ideal for me. Even with an external battery then it would make it even more harder to work with. As a stand-alone video camera and you maybe do photo every now and then i think the r5c wins hands down. As a hybrid shooter where you’re mixing both in fast pace environment i think r5 even with its small draw backs is the option. My opinion is only based on if you have 1 camera on you or you are a solo shooter who doesn’t have the time to swap between multiple cameras on a faster job.
very good video and information that help others to decide which body is good for their needs my concern is as I am going to do huge upgrade from Canon 5dMKII to Canon r5 or r5c I have my Canon 5DMKii as my main photography body and I already have C100 cinema body, but now with all these evolutions in technology it is good to have body with both world cinema and photo which R5C is come to my thought all points you mentioned are clear but my big concern is the body seal and harsh environment as I live in area with a lot of sand wind and dusty weather most of the year could elaporate and give some info about body seal and how long to switch between video to photo mode Thanks again
Hello Hugo, I love your great work! Would you go for the R5C now or wait for the R5 markIi? I got the R6 mark ii as a b-cam for the C70 but struggle with the noise
Very good video. Regarding the noise comparison at 21:05, I noticed the R5c is much shaky than R5. Are you using stabilized RF lens on R5c and R5 in this case? Roughly what is the focal length before magnification?
@@JeffBourke you can, but what's im saying if you drop the camera, will the locking mechanism hold? and if it does, how many times before it breaks? when you use camera in environment with lots of vibration it would fail really quick. if you dont do car mounting and etc then you probably be just fine
Thanks Hugo for great and informative video!

great video! you convinced me to go for the r5c. where did you get the lut widedr709?
Those are just standard manufacture luts from canon
You had the R5 before? I'm thinking on upgrading but idk
Very good video.

i don’t know why you don’t have it but I have access to cinema gamut instead of rec709 when using clog 3 on the r5.
That’s odd. Maybe my firmware was old
100% has cinema gamut as the r6 does as well
Which camera would be better for run&gun applications? Like weddings.
R5c or R3 ?
Thanks
How in camera do you set up the Clog3 CineGammut + WideDR 709 LUT? You said you could provide video right from camera to clients this way?
you just need to choose wideDR color profile and that is it.
No ibis is great BUT can’t you disable ibis anyway if you need?
Didn’t understand that. If there is no ibis then what to turn off?
@@HugoWill if you have the R5, can you lock the ibis?

@@HugoWill is the IBIS actually on the sensor is it software IS?
@@alexcristescu8604 R5c has only digital stabilization
Nice thank you Hugo , have you ever tired speed booster on R5 In apsc mode ? Does it overheat ? Does it keep the image stabilizer? Thx 🙏🏻
didn't try that but I dont see why it wouldn't work.. it has only digital stabilization
