I'm walking through a lot of technical aspects of the Analog Rytm here. No musical marvels, he he. But stuff like connecting it to Logic, uploading samples, managing projects, song mode, chain mode, swing, slide, connecting it to the OP-1, playing it from an external keyboard, recording automation in Logic etc.

Sorry for not making any great music in this video. But I thought it was time to go a little technical, and try and nail all these MIDI, external, DAW, uploading samples, managing files etc. Enjoy this MEGA TUTORIAL on the Analog Rytm by Elektron WeAre Elektron.

I find the best way to learn the Elektron boxes is to watch the Cuckoo tutorial, then go play and learn on your own for a month, then come back and watch the tutorial again, and repeat a third time. Each time you return to the tut, things make more sense and are easier to understand. Cuckoo tuts have replay value!

+alienanxiety that's great to hear! The reason why my tutorials are a bit long, is because I want to give people a complete feeling for how things work, so that they can experiment on their own. Glad you find them useful! :)

+Nico Caffarella Thanks Nico. The USB Midi converter is for the OP-1. There is only USB midi for the OP-1, so to make it standard midi you need a converter. There's no micro USB to USB B port available. It's against the standards. Only micro USB to USB A port. So that's why I was using the Kenton USB Midi hub.

For fellow Windows users, I found that setting a delay parameter to a nominal value of 10 ms in the config menu for C6 was required to get stable sample send/receive. This is covered in the C6 manual, which recommends a range of 5-50 ms for "XP". I am using Windows 7 Pro and 10 ms is fine. It took me a bit to realize that I might need to use a non-zero delay.

when you send samples to the rytm, is there any way to send a folder and not samples 1 by 1? becuse i have like 10 sample folders, and going inside of each folder and sending them to the rytm creating a folder in the rytm and draging them to that folder is very boring

One comment I thought was worth noting about loading samples: You have to select "SDS Handshake" and "Use Extended SDS" in the configuration of the C6 software before sending your samples. Otherwise, the sample gets renamed in the RYTM.

cuckoo.. you are a legend!! i now have a better understanding how to get more out of my Elektron but do have mixed feelings. I still like my rytm don't get me wrong. its a great bit of kit. its annoying because the tempo / trk lvl encoder on mine jumps 8 rather than 1 every time. its meant to jump 8 when u push down i think so maybe i can send it in for repair as its well within 3 years warranty.
Anyway my other gripe is that it cant control other midi eqp .. samplers or synths etc without a buit in seq - from what i can tell and it would be pretty simple by the push of a function button + another (and the desired pad) for a couple of free midi tracks for 2 ext midi channels to use the rytm as a sequencer without having to rely on lap top or another expensive toy. if you do know of a way for this to happen at all (id like to control a Yamaha A4000 or a korg MS20) that would be amazing, using the trigger and swing would be soo cool.
either way you have done a sterling job and a brilliant tutorial. I am very inclined to help you towards your Namm excursion.. when i have a bit more myself i will.
    Take care man.

Hi Cuckoo! Amazing tutorials you have. Thank you very much for taking the time to do them!!
I have an issue with my recently bought Elektron that I hope you can help solving:
For some reason when I make parameter changes to a sound/track i.e change the amp volume on the OH track, this changes also happen and affect the same parameter on track 1 or BD1. This happens with all the tracks and only duplicate to track1. But making changes to track 1 does not affect the parameters on the other tracks. Any ideas? Thanks!

Is it possible to send the information from the individual pads of the
AR to the drum pads of a BSP? So in the end they flash together and I
will happily trigger my drum modules using Retriggers and other stuff
    from the rytm..

Thanks for the mega tut. I don't get how project saving works. I created a project, made a bunch of patterns then saved the project in the project I was working on and lost everything because for some reason it reverted everything back to a very first pattern I did before tweaking stuff. Can you help clarify?

Any chance you could put 5-10 minute markers, like book marks or chapter subjects or album tracks? you know, for archival purposes. I just think it'd be a great resource for peeps learning the Rytm.
Am watching it more and see that you already have chapters, lol.

+cuckoomusic thanks for the tutorial! Question: If i have to load like 200mb of samples, i would have to upload in differents projects right? (cause the limit per project is 64mb?)
