Iron Man 2 is a guilty pleasure. It tried to Frankenstein 5 different Iron Man stories. Murder in Monaco being the primary donor. Having said that, I’m a little disappointed that this model has plastic parts, which are not easy to distribute throughout Tony’s body.
Let's face it: Even though Iron Man 2 is one of the worst movies in Phase 1, the Mark 5 suit up is iconic, despite it's the weakest of all Iron Man suits. Also, I love the figure and the accessories are SUPER accurate to the movie!
Man this is beautiful. I remember being blown away when this was announced as the MMS 600. Down the road I might want a regular set in addition to the deluxe to be able to display him in each stage of transformation. The Mk 5 was my favorite suit-up scene.
Honestly, after the travesty that is phase four and antman 3, we all took Iron man 2, dare I say, iron man 3, Thor dark world, and avengers age of ultron for granted, they’re better than the so called “quality filmmaking” that the MCU is shitting out nowadays…
13:04 "it puts you right back in the cinema when you saw this transformation for the first time ever." The trailer(s) that spoiled it months ahead of time: Am I a joke to you?
Thank you for the PSAs! I'm definitely going to take my time and rewatch this when I try to pose the more fragile bits. That head sculpt is incredible.
I've had this piece for a good few months - my first comment on this video was 6 months ago - and it's honestly really good. Not as frustrating after you learn how to put it together without needing instructions. The racing suit is super nice! I actually had some rather rough-looking ''damage'' on it after adding the armor on, but after a while, I noticed the material actually completely healed itself. And I was sure it wasn't going to, some of it looked pretty bad at first. Looks absolutely fantastic with the diecast Mark V, an obvious no-brainer pairing! My favorite style for this is actually the first one, where he kind of holds the handles and pulls the arms out - leaves a lot of the racing suit for you to see, it's a nice 50/50 combo of both armor and suit. The review was much appreciated, once more! Thank you.
Finally picked this one up as I love the suits exposed parts. I was a bit worried about the tight fit so I removed the head and joined the front armour piece to the rear by the 2 pins at the top. Then I slid both parts down the torso (being careful of course) and attached the 2 curved underarm connectors. I finally connected the 2 lower pins with the minimum of fuss and it was good to go. This review gave me many helpful tips as the instruction manual is typical Hot Toys lol. I hope Hot Toys see sense and release the race suit Tony on its own. Maybe with a racing helmet. Thanks for a great review Justin.
I'm so torn on this one. The racing suit looks amazing, and I'd rather not ruin it by using the pieces... but then again, if I don't use them, they'd just kind of go to waste. What I think Hot Toys should've done was just to include a static, non-poseable statue with the partially open armor. Kinda like the upcoming Armory Batman has that static Brune Wayne. Price would inevitably be higher, but honestly, I would've been fine with that.
I wish Hot Toys found a way to make the figure look like the fully transformed mk5. I wouldn't expect it to look perfect but a decently working Ironman figure made of a Tony figure with armor pieces on would make me want to spend the 💰 money 💰 for it.
@@JustinsCollection I have the figure so I know for a fact that you're overstating the fragility of the pieces. all of my pieces are well-constructed and perfectly suited for play if you're competent and don't have issues with fine motor skills.
Just got this piece in today. I have to agree with your assessment. The armor pieces should have been magnetic and easy to snap on and off. It’s a chore as is. I was able to snap on all the armor pieces on my 3rd party racing suit kitbash. I really like the racing suit on this hot toys release so that will stay like this.
I was wondering how you would review this one. The fact that it’s plastic pieces is a problem for multiple reasons. The suitcase can’t be used with him posed as if he is bending down to suit up. He can’t bend down properly at all. His neck doesn’t look right proportionally. The plastic pieces are fragile and just difficult to manipulate. No padding on the inside of the armor. I am surprised how good the paint was on plastic parts. I love the all the pieces that are included. The suit case having 3 configurations to choose from is sweet! The look of it as a whole is pretty fantastic. With all the pieces you really have some good scene choices you can use because you have what you need with the purchase. Yes the head sculpt is super nice. I love the look and accessories included but I think it’s a hard decision to say a yes. The fact that it’s so fragile and a pain to change in and out. It’s a flip of the coin. It’s super good in looks but, super bad because of all the plastic and difficulty and inconvenience. Great video Justin!
Maybe you could use that third party racing suit Tony Stark you have and put him with his hands in the suitcase and the other partially transformed figure right next to him to better show the stages of transformation. Or if the third party racing suit Tony Stark fits in the armor you could switch em. Idk lol
@@JustinsCollection It's just there are so many options... I'd basically like to 'animate' the figure from the left of my display where race suit Tony steps into the case and then have figures at each key stage of the suit up until we to get to a shiny Mk5 at the right... perhaps I should lower my sights??!!!
For me I will want these new Mark 5 suit up only for the Headsculpt, it's amazing for this new Suit Up Mk5 scene, but yeah Personally, I would still want the Die Cast Mark 5 suit, but with the new Tony Stark Racing Suit Headsculpt
I just wanted to let you know that you did a fantastic job on this review i love it when you do comparison figures that are 2.0 new vs old figures and when you swap out new head sculpts and place them on old figures or vice versa keep doing that type of segments because I do wonder sometimes how certain ideas look once it all comes together because it does help with my decision making at times appreciate it.
I remember the third party MK 5 suitcase review you posted years ago, it was one of the first of your reviews I watched. I've got this figure on preorder and already have the MK 5 figure so I have to decide how I'm going to display them. It is too bad that Hot Toys didn't use magnets or velcro to attach all of the fiddly bits but Hot Toys is gonna Hot Toy. I do really like the looks of that head sculpt.
Hi may I know is this mms600? I’m really looking forward to buy my first hottoys!!!! Btw your videos are amazing, thank you so much for your brilliant work ❤
Looks like it would be difficult to pull up the sleeve to access the battery compartment in the forearms or do they recommend yank the arm out of the elbow joint and pull out through the sleeve?
Could you put the Armour on your 3rd party race suit figure? If it's possible you could have Race suit Tony holding the case, and make two figures out of one, does seem a shame to hide it especially with that brilliant headsculpt!

Everything is way better than Iron Man 3 and that movie no matter how horrible it was has a lot of 1/6 collectibles and variants.

@yug1980 I agree. Best hulk movie, worst of Phase 1. Still though, I think out of all the phases I'd rather watch Hulk than Iron Man 3
