They used the whole season to establish there are quiet, sweet, and considerate introvert love that doesn’t have to involve something drastic or scandalous. And at the last moment they had to ruin it by completely overthrowing everything they established before.
It was so upsetting how they did it!!! @@heie28 exactly. @catwell88 yes exactly and I honestly enjoy a mix of Daphne and her sister. I love a true and earnest gesture, but i also love a passionate pursuit. Im actually not that excited about next season really
This take has always baffled me. The existence of one kind of attraction doesn't negate the existence of another. One person making you feel passion doesn't negate another making you feel safe and known. It's genuinely confusing to me.
What they did to this relationship was horrendous. It was such a beautiful representation of quiet love and they just retconned it. They couldve still had the same storyline for francesca they wanted, it didnt need francesca looking disappointed after their wedding kiss or her stuttering over Michaela right after marriage to her cousin!
Yall need to stop acting at if his death isn't in the books, because it is! It's not like they purposely said LET'S MAKE THEIR LIVE PEACEFUL AND QUIET ONLY TO KILL HIM OFF FOR THE PLOT! IT'S IN THE FREAKING BOOKS!
No one said that he isn't going to die. Just that at the end they made it look like she's not even that much in love with John like she was supposed to be based on the book. Also Michaela was supposed to be the first to fall in love, not Francesca.
The sudden crush on his cousin ruined it for me. I know he died by I would have loved to see a beautiful and sweet relationship until then. I wish the Michael/Michaela development happened after the death.
I’ve not read the books, but I agree in that there is a big difference between love after loss, and finding out you’re a lesbian on your wedding day. I too feel it’s a shame they appear to want to undermine the beauty of this relationship. But perhaps they will salvage it yet 🤞🏻
@@sersastark it's not about the death. It's about ruining the relationship by making Francesca look disappointed by the wedding kiss and fall head over heels for Michaela right after. Yes, I suppose they did ... The last documented cases of Plague were in 1905 somewhere at the coast of England ... it was devastating. Something like 60 people (two villages) died within 2 weeks ... fortunately there were some women with medical knowledge affected who cared for the afflicted and sacrificed their lives ...
I think it's more that she's bi and confused after meeting his cousin. I do think they should have just kept the character male and created a separate lady relationship, I think Cressida and the seamstress would make a good sassy pair lol
I thought the same about her being annoyed she wouldn't quite have the peace and quiet she hoped for, between Michaela and Eloise I'm sure it won't be peaceful! However I am keen to see how the queer relationship develops. I do believe their marital affection is legitimate though, with so little experience we as humans have affections every which way while our hormones and brains are still in flux.
They make a big deal of it in the special queen Charlotte season explaining it but mostly, it's because they admit this isn't supposed to be historically accurate. It is lovely to see diversity included though 🤝
@@alorarhodes1568Thing is nothing about this show is historically accurate. The costumes, hair, set design, all are ridiculous inappropriate for the time period. If this were a historically accurate documentary it would be different. But it’s more like a fantasy drama.
@ there it is! It’s literally historical fantasy! Even the wedding scenes the fans are so obsessed with are completely inaccurate. They had nice fancy dresses for weddings if you were rich, but otherwise like no
SPOILER!!!! I hate what they did by changing a Michael to Michaela. I read the books and this romance was so lovely. I am not against a gay character, but changing Michael's gender to female takes away certain key points: specifically Francesca having her baby.
I was really not interested in this pairs love story. Yes the quirky-ness and attention to details he has for her are adorable, but I didn’t “fall in love” with this couple the way I have all the other love matches in the series. Their subplot was uninteresting.
I think this was very much intentional by the writers. John and Francesca's story is nothing more than a necessary plotline to get to Francesca's "passionate love". They made it so that John and Francesca have this peaceful love and then at the end boom! She met someone that made her heart race. You're not supposed to be that invested in John. Sure, he is intended to be pleasant, but I don't think you're supposed to be super attached to him. Not like how you're supposed to be attached to the other couples. Which honestly is a bummer, because in real life a love like Francesa and John is what a lot of us dream of having. And it's the type of relationship that lasts. Passion burns quickly. But of course, this is Bridgerton, realistic love is not what viewers are here for.
Changing Lord kilmartin's cousin brings up continuity errors further down in the story. If Lord killmartin dies before getting Francesca pregnant, she loses all rights to his estate and she has to move back in with her own family. She can't just run off with his female cousin. Females can't hold titles in this world so Francesca is shit out of luck if she doesn't marry any other man. The cousin used to be called Michael and that's how Francesca was able to keep the killmartin name.
