    Thanks for the great video. There's an awesome pizza place in Salida my wife and I found called Moonlight Pizza and Brew Pup. We're originally from New England and between Boston and NY, we feel like we have some good comparisons for pizza quality LOL. Anyway, great place to spend an evening, have a few beers, and regroup to go back into the mountains.

    What an amazing adventure! I'd like to congratulate you on an absolutely terrific buck, an unbelievable hunt and somehow capturing it all on video. Truly awesome.
    Also, happy anniversary. I hope to have my wife join me on one of my back country hunts. Best of luck to you both this year. Take care. Bryce

    Congrats! I talked to you guys right before you dropped into the basin to retrieve him. I love that country and know really how hard you guys worked for that buck. A down year but you guys came out with a stud for sure!

      Skyler Finch I remember that. Hopefully it didn’t screw that day up for you diving into that basin. Hard country for sure. Thanks for watching! Good luck this season

    Thank you for turning that rack upside down on your pack. There are rifle deer seasons going on at high altitude during archery season. The rifle hunters have to wear orange, but you don't and that rack standing up on your pack could definitely lead to some unwanted attention from a rifle hunter. Even better would have been to carry some orange cloth/flagging to put on your pack for the hike out. Great buck, BTW. Do you regret not going after those deer so close to camp the first morning?

    • @6849231
      @6849231  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wish I had better opportunities at those deer. They never bedded in areas we found to be stalkable. I thought I could wait for a better opportunity but the deer was not very consistent on where it wanted to be. Also it got a lot of foot activity from sheep and rutting elk

    Well done on the hunt and video! Way to stick with it and spend time hunting hard with your wife. DIY is what separates the hunters from the wannabes. Would you mind sharing what you are filming with? I’ve made videos from my phone but I’d like to upgrade.

    • @6849231
      @6849231  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and for reaching out. This hunt was filmed on a Panasonic GH4 with a 28-300 lens. We are have since upgraded but generally using the same setup in the sony lineup.

      Jared Thomas always hard to back out. But it’s always smart to do if you aren’t positive about the shot. Thanks for watching!

    3:25 - "So much country and we're just going to let them be..." and your panning to a 200" deer. I think I would be planning my stock at that point.

    • @6849231
      @6849231  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. He might be close to 200”. He was a smart buck though. Never in the same spot twice. We came out to glass him up from the same spot the next day and he was 100 yds from us and we spooked him. I wanted him bad but he was hard to figure out and those sheep moved through and messed it all up a couple days later

    Can you please tell me what broadheads you use.

    • @6849231
      @6849231  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe I was suing the Kudu points when I did that hunt. It’s a two blade single bevel. I have recently moved on to a two blade with bleeder setup from iron will broadheads

    What Camera Adapter are you using?

    • @6849231
      @6849231  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Chet Eliason we used the vortex camera adapter system attached to a 50mm lens on our GH4. I don’t believe the adapter system by vortex is made anymore but we got some use out of it. We are going to all phoneskope now. A lot easier and lighter

    You should definitely invest in basic tools to keep in your pickup. Nothing worse than being stranded out in the middle of nowhere for something silly

    • @6849231
      @6849231  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh for sure. I had one. Just not on that trip. I make sure to check now every time. I’ll make some other dumb mistake again I’m sure. Lucky it didn’t keep us stranded too long

      ryenthal sorry if this was your area. Very popular trailhead and never wanted to go back so personally wasn’t worried about. Understand you being frustrated if this is one of your spots. Too busy and popular for us to want to go back
