"kman 4443," Wow; way to put a damper on a message board for all those Dodge Charger dreamers and Joan Parker fans; or simply those legions of men and women, nostalgic for their youth in the late 1960s -- by bringing up body bags of the unfortunates that were in American positions in South Vietnam.
For the GIs and Marines in the thick of it back then "dreaming of getting home to buy one of those cars," is surely trumped by three out of four males "dreaming of getting home to reunite or meet up with a girl like Joan Parker." As our host "OsbornTramain" makes abundantly clear with this ad, Ms. Parker (or 'Joanie,' as Stu Gilliam addresses her in other Dodge commercials of the era) is blessed with a face, smile and ultra-feminine voice MADE for being a pitch woman and lady friend / spouse plus equally gifted with a figure MADE for fashionable mini-skirts and knee-high, white leather boots -- for the unattached only of course.
"OsbornTramain," thanks much for posting. P.us, congratulations on nearly 300,000 views and your 3k 'thumbs up' votes.

I was seven years old, and getting ready for school, when mom said she had a surprise for us outside. It was my dad's brand new 69 Charger SE with a 383 4bbl automatic. I still remember climbing around the inside and sitting behind the wheel. I love this commercial because the first car she shows in the light green metallic is the same color as my dad's. He had the black vinyl roof. Between watching Bullitt in the drive-in, and my dad's car, I have been hooked since. I now own a 66 Charger.

69 Chargers are the most in demand classic cars of all time. Rust buckets are going for 10K. I was in high-school when muscle cars were just 3 year old used cars. I am a Chevy guy, like my father before me, but unless you spent cubic dollars upgrading a Chevy, or a Ford, all you saw was Mopar tail-lights. No tinkering required. Just mash the "go pedal" and hang on.
Chrysler never built a "grocery getter 340. Every 340 was a fire-breathing monster. Small block Chevy's were like belly-buttons; everybody had one.
The build quality of the Mopars was laughable. If you closed the door, the whole car would rattle for a week. Basically, a piece of tin with a motor, but oh what a drive-train. Mopar's were Cheap and Un-beatable in stock form at a stop light.
High performance Big Block GM's and Fords were expensive, so they were rare. Mopar's were cheap, and they ruled the streets in 1973 when I was in high school. I know, I was there.

Teresa67 Factoid...they already had the perfect combination, 2 door mid size coupe (coronet or satellite) that had a nice look, and they were already punching out 383's and 440's for newports and new yorkers, so no development was necessary...Don't agree with your assessment of the build quality...I live in eastern ontario, lots of road salt, the fords, especially, had holes in them you could throw a cat through in 4-5 yrs, that and mushy coil springs made them death traps in no time...got sued over the crappy steel they used and lost...Mopars held together the best of all of them, especially the C bodies...

Or how about every car manufacturer there is . It’s all computer system controlled garbage . And you can shovel it .

@@TheOzthewiz Actually, no. I had the same model (or very similar) factory sunroof in my ‘69 Mercury Cougar. ALL of the big 3’s sunroof conversions were specially done by ASC (American Sunroof Corp). The cars would be shipped from the Detroit area factory to ASC’s shop in Warren, MI for the work and then sent back. The way they work is by using a cable system with a worm gear motor that draws and pulls the metal roof panel back and forth. The system is actually designed to sort of “leak”. It’s meant to be naturally tight to repel the water, but if it gets through, there is a tray with ‘nipples’ at the front corners with plastic tubes attached. The overflow water drains down the tubes which go down inside the A-pillars and dump out underneath directly below the car in line with the A-pillars. The trick was, you did /do have to blow dirt/gunk out of the tubes with compressed air or water maybe once a year to keep them clean or they eventually would leak. But as long as the tubes were clear, no leaks!

Plus, only A SINGLE MINUTE of advertising (one 60 sec.commercial or two 30's) aired at each of the act breaks on sitcoms, two or three, or dramas, four acts plus a teaser pre main titles or 'tag' / epilogue post the last act. Instead, today viewers are bombarded with a dozen commercials of varying lengths in four-minute to six-minute 'pods.'
Watching this was fun, in more ways than one. 1) Nostalgic, 2) appealing to car aficionados and 3) admirers of Joan Parker or females like Joan Parker.

I guess “grandma” showed up at the Dodge dealer after the White Hat Special Chargers were all gone and had to settle for a Mustang. 😄😄😄.

Dodge had some interesting spokesmodels in the 1960s. There was Kathryn Minner , "The Little Old Lady from

The little Old Lady from Pasedina advertising wasn't the national campaign and wasn't created by Dodge or Chrysler Corporation. It was only seen locally in Southern California. It did influence the song and music, but it wasn't a national thing in the way the Dodge Spokespersons were, Pam Austin or Joan Parker.
