I can say the second best thing about being able to perfectly understand the Scottish accent for me so far has been being able to follow Kevin Bridge's comedy 😂😂😂😂

I grew up in New Mexico, so my ''Spanish'' is limited to comidas y cuss words, and I have ''grocery store Russian'' at my command as well. it's good to be multi-lingual. I still struggle with English, Emurikan and Island, my native tongue is Blithering Gibberish.
"You speak good Spanish, coming from Spain" - actually said (in Spanish) by a Honduran to a Spanish friend of mine in Honduras.
They even copied the name of the language. Smh.
Its pretty different in pronunciation and even some of the pronouns are different. I speak Spanish but Castillian can be a bit hard to understand sometimes.

My brother lived in Chicago for a few years around the turn of century and was asked, on three separate occasions, where he learnt to speak English!

I had friends visit Bristol from Fife and I had to translate both ways.
As a spaniard who played videogames with two scotish folks... It was though... Specially when Jingerjesus was high, that was like selecting "NotASingleThing" mode.
Come to Appalachia, my friend. The Tennessee valley is widely mocked for its accent- which is watered down Scottish. Everyone here understands you perfectly!
West Virginians don't have much trouble with understanding it, either. So as long as he stays in the Appalachians, he ought to be understood fairly well, lol.

Once, I said I feel like I speak 3 languages: American, Scots, & English. Intern said, "When did you learn English?"
I grew up in Glasgow but my accent is nowhere near as strong as Kevin's from moving around a lot... when I go home, people ask me where I'm from too (in the specific, I can't guess your postcode kind of way).

He's right about crumbling when they bring the menu. I'm one of those unfortunates who ordered criadillas after asking the waiter, in English, what they were. He made little cupping movements and said, anxiously, what sounded like "iggs". Ladies and gentlemen, it was not eggs that the butcher had cut off that bull, though I didn't find that out until I had chewed my way with difficulty through one and a half.

"Huevos" (literally "eggs") is a more polite term for testicles than "cojones", which you might have have recognised.
