Face/Off is a great movie. And I don't mean it's great in a so-bad-it's-good sense. I enjoy it unironically. People forget, good art doesn't have to take itself seriously. Face/Off is a movie that knows that people are drawn to a film with a crazy premise, it knows that people can't look away from over the top action, and it knows that people love seeing Nicholas Cage acting like a complete psycho. And the movie deliveres on all that, and more. It doesn't feel the need to try to give you some ironic pretense for you to enjoy the movie, there's no unnecessary attempts to try to make the movie seem "smart" so thay way any insecure audience members can still feel good about themselves. It's a movie that's so pure in what it is, and it's endlessly entertaining for it.
